Any cars with a V8 and poor fuel economy to recommend? Thanks.

Seems like that's still sky high compared to ICE cars.

depreciation only matters if you buy out the car or finance it. If you lease it, who gives a shit. Give it back at the end of the lease and let them deal with it.
With these EV's i wouldnt own it outright just in case the battery blows up after the warranty is done. Replacement battery costs are so sky high that all your savings goes out the door the minute you have to do anything battery related.
Logic:
ICE corolla LE : 500 a month + 200 a month for gas + 158 for insurance (assume 1900 a year for insurance) = 858
EV Lezbaru Luxury: 530 a month + maybe 50 dollars for electricity if youre not like me and can get free charging + 183 for insurance (my lezbaru is 2200 a year). = 763
You're saving about 95-145 dollars a month driving the EV.
You save more the more KMs you drive.

i think it makes sense if you actually need to buy a new car, but replacing a perfectly good car with an EV still doesnt make sense unless that car is having tons of problems all the time.
my wifes car is about 13yo, still runs with no major issues, and when issues do arise it's never more than a $500 fix once or twice a year...
as much as i'd love to replace that car with something more modern and stop paying for gas, the numbers are still not in our favour.

Out of curiousity, I checked and I've only filled my tank once from Jan 1st until now. That was $47. My insurance is about $1100/year so that's $91.67.
$275/3 months insurance
$47/3 months gas (this is obviously more expensive now)
lol
granted, I am occasionally filling gf's tank and that's now just above $100 with current prices.

I mean, we saw first-hand how Teslas took a nose dive because of their pricing model and the day of the week Elon Musk feels. Not to rub salt on the wound, but their cars are also easily written off due to lack of parts, so there is also a supply chain factor into the equation as well.
With entry of your traditional ICE manufacturers (Toyota/Subaru for example) into the market and with extended warranties (I think 10 years?) will be the litmus test of the buy vs. lease model, including financial feasibility. Not to mention, these manufacturing companies likely have ESG targets to meet/exceed and the evolution of circular economies is trending, which may impact forecasted depreciation curves over say a five year period.

If you drive as much as Badhobz and his wife, you are probably hitting 600km a week.

If you got a perfectly good ICE car, just drive it into the ground. Doesnt make a lick of sense to get rid of it unless you need some features of a modern car that the old one doesnt have.
or you got work perks like me.

BTW I forgot: If (when?) cheap Chinese EVs hit the Canadian market, I speculate the EV market will take a swift kick to the balls, even with higher deprecation.
In the end, if you only lease, lowest payment and features will always win hands down. It's a huge wild card if you own/finance.

I remember seeing in the news that federal gov says none of the 49k China-built EVs imported into Canada during the first year need to meet the <$35k requirement. So EV prices probably won't be collasping any time soon.

i thought about an ebike for my 9km commute, if i get one that does like 40kph i could probably make it to work just as quick as i do in my car.. the only thing is it doesn't really save me money... 18km round trip probably costs me like what, $4 in gas? do i really want to expose myself to the elements every day to save $4.... no.
if you're doing it for the sake of exercise that's different
