I mean if we lived in AB or ON, or anywhere else in Canada, it'd be what ... $1.65/litre.

Gas prices in Metro Vancouver rose to more than $2 per litre Sunday as the U.S.-Israel war against Iran continues to impact fuel supply.

Prices in Vancouver hovered around 202.9 cents per litre Sunday, with some variation depending on location.

Online gas price prediction site gaswizard.ca anticipates no change in prices on Monday.

The war has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, a passageway through which nearly one fifth of the world’s oil supply normally travels, sending global prices soaring.

In Vancouver, average prices have been steadily rising over the past several days—jumping nearly 20 cents per litre since Thursday.

The last time prices were above $2 per litre was in May of 2024, according to gasbuddy.com.

Iran should let tankers through by their destination ... China, pass and collect $200. USA ... shoot it down! European countries ... free pass. Russia ... pass. That will win international support for Iran and stick it to diaperprez.

My conclusion after watching a few of Andrew Chang's About That videos on the subject is -- it is exceedingly difficult for the US (or anyone for that matter) to fully secure the Hormuz Strait. There are basically only 2 fixed sea lanes -- 1 in each direction -- along the narrowest part of the strait, and Iran can pretty much send drones or other attack from anywhere within the country.

Spoiler!

On top of that, the mine laying has added an extra level of significant risks that makes it very difficult to overcome.

Spoiler!

IMO unless the Gulf countries are able to divert their oil to other ports that can bypass the Hormuz Strait, we'll be stuck with high gas prices until then. Saudi Arabia apparently has apparently shifted some oil volumes via an east-west pipeline that achieves just that, but there is another pinch point at the exit of Red Sea where Yemen is, and that isn't exactly secure either. UAE has also shift some oil delivery to a port that is just outside of the Hormuz Strait, but on the map alone, it still looks very close to the Strait, so I am not sure how safe that is either.

Badhobz' Subie EV is looking like an ever smarter purchase by the day.

I'm driving like once per week and usually just locally for groceries lol. Gas is not high on my list of regular purchases either. Hoping it'll come down for summer but extremely doubtful of course. The EK takes 94 octane

Has anyone bought oil and natural gas stocks before or during the U.S., Israel, and Iran war?

-getting decent gains from Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ).

Recent poll indicates that if Peter Milobar won the BC Cons leadership race, he would be in position to form a majority government. Looks like BC residents are pretty tired of Eby and NDP, bye bye 6'7" giant.

What a surprise... who would have thought that a moderate / centralist Conservative candidate like Milobar would be a front runner over some anti-vaxxing, climate change and residential school denying nutjob?

Given how hobz was flexing his cheapness, I was surprised it took him this long to get an EV, especially considering his work can charge for free.

Gas price really is the ultimate EV seller. The last few days I've gotten a lot of inquiries from those cheap aunties and uncles calling me about Tesla and how to get them cheaper.

yeah but the value proposition wasn't there before. We did a comparison on RS a few years back where i compared a corolla to a model 3 and the corolla was wayyy cheaper per month to operate than the model 3. If i recall the corolla was at 300 clams a month vs the model 3 was at 600

Now that the corolla has increased to 500 bucks a month on a base model, its a no brainer when this EV is 530 and loaded to the tits. The Model Y/3 is still way more expensive at 700 dollars and having worse residuals than my lezbaru.

To note: There are very few (if any) entry-level vehicles by any manufacturer that fit a ~$500/month budget. Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Nissan Micra, Mazda 2, Chevy Aveo - all gone.

Given the political and economic climate, the price of gas is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ so the shift to EV for the short/near term makes financial sense.
