Geographically, Saskatchewan is in the Mountain time zone. Its switch to permanent Central Standard Time in effect gave it permanent Mountain daylight time. UTC -6
Yukon is permanent UTC -7 which is permanent pacific daylight time, or permanent mountain standard time which is what we're effectively switching to.

So what does shooting at the US consulate from the outside achieve? Is that supposed to scare the consulate staff?
I don't remember what the US consulate in Toronto is like, but the news reports that it is heavily fortified, and I very vividly remember the US embassy in Ottawa was exactly that like that -- big heavy concrete blocks around the front of the building. I seem to think there were retractable tire spikes on the road that leads into the embassy. Bollards were everywhere, as were security cameras.
In fact, the news reporting seems to suggest that the consulate has surveillance video of the incident taking place. It doesn't seem that hard for the police to be able to at least track the vehicle that was used in the incident.
You can guarantee that the RCMP will be treating this as a high profile, top priority case as well. So it definitely doesn't seem smart to be doing this.

Yes, US consulate in Toronto and Ottawa are both heavily fortified. They make it very obvious not to mess around with them.
The Italian embassy in Chinatown Toronto (of all placed lol) is like a gated Italian villa.

Sounds like the same type of guys who shoot up Indian Restaurants and Banquet Halls for extortion. Also someone shot up 2 synagogues around Toronto in the same manner last week.
Drive by shootings of blank walls and windows in the middle of the night. Buncha pussies.

I flew a charter around the artic with about 30 diplomats from all the embassies in Canada. The only one with a security guard was the US. Lol.

I guess since Canada is a low risk country there are no marines stationed at the consulates, only the embassy (maybe)

I recall no Marines or security at the embassy when I was in Ottawa a few times (unless that has changed since 2024.)

So it is looking pretty likely that Carney and the Liberals will have a slim majority after the April byelections...
Prior to this latest development, at least several analysts that I occasionally listen to were suggesting that Carney would likely want to call an early election to secure a stronger mandate, now that his (personal) support as PM is going strong. I personally don't really like that because that is just making the current term too short, and it makes for a huge waste of money -- holding elections are expensive.
I honestly hope Carney would at least hold off on calling an election until at least summer 2027.

NDP MP just announced that she's crossing to liberals. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/arti...y-of-majority/
There's 3 by-elections coming up, two in liberal strongholds, one in Quebec. With the latest crossing, Carney just needs those 2 seats for that 172 majority number (the Quebec seat would just be extra insurance if that happened)

Drive by shootings of blank walls and windows in the middle of the night. Buncha pussies. | This is why eggs are so much more effective. Way cheaper, but way more of a pain in the ass (especially once it dries out and is caked on).

PP might as well give up. He's going to face a Lib Majority after the byelection = full term for this Lib government. (2 Toronto riding are Liberal strongholds). PP's dream of a minority Lib government with some bargaining power has vapourized with 3 of his own crossing to Liberal caucas.
Honestly, even if Carney called a snap election tomorrow, PP has no chance in hell to win so he might as well take his lot in life and be a good career Opposition leader.
