I wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese did it. They are known for making people disappear. If this Meng person was arrested in secret, that would have surprised me though.

There is a lot I vehemently dislike about Trump -- but his China policy isn't one of them. On one hand, he just dined with Emperor Xi at the G20, and signed a "truce" with China on their trade wars -- never mind the fact that it was really far more of a Chinese surrender than a real truce. And then today, news of the Huawei CFO, the daughter of the Huawei founder, gets her a$$ arrested in Canada, with plans for extradition to the US.

Well played, Donald. Well played. | To put it into perspective, she was arrested last Saturday, basically when the dinner was taking place. 
It's almost funny that China is getting a taste of its own medicine. Just a few weeks back, China arrested families (who are US citizens) of ex Chinese officials who were fled while being alleged of corruption in an effort to force him to return to China. Even further back, China arrested (more like kidnap because reports suggested he was brought back to China from HK) the owner of a HK publisher (who's dual Swedish/HK citizen IIRC) because they were about to publish a book about Xi's affairs.
China has always been ruthless when it comes to this and couldn't care less about complains from other countries. It's comical seeing that Chinese Embassy in Ottawa issuing a statement.  Quote:
