is the S closer in graphical performance to the new X or the current-gen One X?
because that's a good price

Closer to the new one, because it has the super fast storage and raytracing, etc. It will run at 1440p upscaled to 4K

It's INSANE at $300 especially if you consider Gamepass

Xsx pricing out in Canada

MarkyMark 09-09-2020 08:51 AM

$600 bucks for the top model is actually pretty decent for Canadian pricing

twitchyzero 09-09-2020 11:35 AM

i remember 60gb ps3 was $700, that's like $900 today haha
you got a lot for it though as blu-ray players were at least $500

sonick 09-09-2020 12:02 PM

Too bad the xss does not have a disc drive. I dont need the extra horsepower (dont even have a 4k tv), but I do want backwards compatibility with older games. I'm a very occasional casual gamer and am a good two generations behind on games (just finished GTA 4 during pandemic, working my way thru halo 4 now, and then have GTA 5 ready to go. All on x360). Xss with disc drive and backwards compatibility would've been perfect for me.

SkinnyPupp 09-09-2020 03:50 PM

Gamepass will also include EA Play

Jmac 09-09-2020 05:11 PM

I mean I usually spend like $100/year on games, so $25 USD/month is pretty steep to me, especially when the games that I play aren’t included.

SkinnyPupp 09-09-2020 06:36 PM

$9.99 per month

But yeah if you don't play games there's not much point

Canadian prices.

MarkyMark 09-16-2020 03:33 PM

Looks like Canadians will be paying $30 more for the PS5 than XBox for the top model. Tsk, tsk Sony.

SkinnyPupp 09-16-2020 03:39 PM

At those prices, you're actually getting a discount on the exchange rate (currently $500 USD is $658 middle rate, and $400 USD is $527 CAD)

MS giving you an even better rate though SeemsGood

MarkyMark 09-16-2020 03:40 PM

Xbox is really doing Canada a solid at their price point lol

StylinRed 09-16-2020 04:54 PM

When do preorders go up? Or are they already lol

Razor Ramon HG 09-16-2020 05:13 PM

Best Buy, Walmart, and EB all have PS5 pre-orders up.

StylinRed 09-16-2020 06:32 PM

Oh damn I'm so slow these days lol bb/Eb seems to be sold out of preorders too

Got one in at Walmart but not estimated to get it until a week later ehhh

Walmart's out of the digital version too

Edit: had the ps5 in the cart too on Eb but the site was laggy and when I reloaded the checkout ended up being greyed out

SkinnyPupp 09-16-2020 07:06 PM

EleGiggle

Hehe 09-16-2020 08:20 PM

PS5 preorders are already sold out everywhere... dafaq?

SpeedStars 09-16-2020 08:55 PM

I don't think pre-orders were supposed to be live until tomorrow. You can lurk amazon and check to see when they open up pre-orders or signup at BestBuy for when they open up again

EDIT: AS OF 10:10PM AMAZON PRE ORDERS ARE LIVE!

SkinnyPupp 09-16-2020 09:26 PM

If Nvidia hadn't announced the 30 series, I 100% would be on Amazon preordering a PS5 right now. But I decided to skip that and go the Microsoft on PC route instead, and upgrade to a 3070 (or maybe see what AMD offers at $500). That platform has been improving so much. Might grab an NVM-E while I'm at it

I still think the PS has way better exclusives, but I am going around with Microsoft this time around.

I counted the number of exclusives I actually played, and was kind of surprised. Bloodborne, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, and Yakuza 6. Yeah, I couldn't get into Last of Us or Uncharted.

More of my friends play on XBOX, it has awesome integration with PC, and better bang for my buck spec-wise.

I also managed to snag 3 years of XBOX Game Pass Ultimate using a loophole I found on RFD. https://forums.redflagdeals.com/micr...ths-1-2290218/

Don't have an XBOX yet, but there's tons of games through the pass for PC. I'm currently playing through the FFXV DLCs that are included with the pass. Not to mention that xCloud and EA Play are being included with Game Pass Ultimate, it was a huge factor in my decision.

Might still grab a PS5 down the road. God of War II will be another exclusive I will want to play, but hopefully Demon Souls is just a timed exclusive.

SpeedStars 09-16-2020 09:58 PM

I ordered one pretty much just for exclusives and for couch/lounge play. Nothing beats the comfort of lying in bed or on the couch. The PS4 backwards compatibility is also a bonus and comes just in time for the cyberpunk release which gives whoever owns a current gen copy but a next gen console a free upgrade.

SkinnyPupp 09-16-2020 10:17 PM

Yeah I kind of hate to miss out on the exclusives, but there's plenty to enjoy on XBOX/PC. Plus they are starting to release them on PC now anyway.

Exclusives are going to be "time limited" more than ever, and true exclusives - games that can be played on PC but not console (at least not as enjoyable) - are probably more important to me anyway

StylinRed 09-16-2020 10:24 PM

Oh damnit I didn't think amazon was going to offer the playstation this time around, especially when I couldn't find a listing for them earlier, smh, they're already soldout now
