I'm not an expert either, but here's the way I understand it in simplest terms: You know those little spikes you see on the virus

https://i.imgur.com/AnkNWVT.png

Those spikes dig into receptor binding domains (RBD) of the enzymes that coat our lungs, arteries, heart, intestines (ACE2) to infect us

In this study, they identified two types of antibodies in patients who have recovered from C19. One, much more common, targets the spike on the virus, the other targets the RBD of the ACE2 enzyme. The latter appears to be much more effective in preventing attachment.

So in simplest terms, they are looking at cloning the rare type of antibodies that effectively block the virus from attaching to the ACE2 enzyme itself.

So they've isolated the effective antibody, can clone it and prevent the virus from spreading with it.

The question now is can they develop this into a drug, and if so, what's the potential for a prophylactic vaccine, or a treatment for those who already have it.

Because as we know, the other major mRNA based vaccines try to get your body to create the same antibodies we already do, but this study shows that the majority of these antibodies (the ones that target the spike proteins) are relatively ineffective compared to the ones that target the receptor binding domains. And that's IF the vaccine doesn't cause a cytokine storm, killing the patient (which is what previous mRNA SARS vaccines did in animal testing before being abandoned)

I think it's more like putting up a shield of armor, which is what some antibodies do, rather than trying to chop off the spears themselves, which is what most antibodies do

the parking issue wasn't a problem for VGH or Richmond... the ONLY one affected was New West; douchbag parked in the lot and takes sky trains....
bad move on CoV but hindsight 20/20

China has refused repeated requests by the World Health Organisation to take part in investigations into the origins of COVID-19, a WHO representative in China has told Sky News

This is the same government that imprisons citizens for the crime of religious expression.
Then enters the prisoners blood type in a database, where, if a suitable match is found, their organs can be harvested (removed while alive).
The government. Not some crime syndicate. Not a terrorist organization. The freaking Chinese government.
And countries still carry water for them. As if this, and other human rights and trade violations, aren't well documented.
I hope to hell people pay close attention to how government's respond to this country's lies and the damage they've caused. The actions some take, and the ones some don't.

Like cover up the onset of a disease that would bring the global economy to its knees.

Countries all have skeletons. I understand that. But China is on a whole other level.
Everything their government does is a measure to maintain complete control over their people.
And left unchecked, they're spreading that policy as far as other countries let them.

Is it worse than North Korea, is it worse than Saudi Arabia. Is it worse than a country that provides wmd's to dictator's? China is a super power get use to it.

SkinnyPupp 04-30-2020 09:35 PM

We were just starting to "get used to it" and look at where we are now

China has been a "super power" for like 10 years, and they already almost destroyed humankind as we know it.

Get used to it... Yeah get used to the apocalypse LUL

Is this going to be the next thing welfare insists is 100% true?

MarkyMark 05-01-2020 08:36 PM

Why do you guys continue to debate lol, agree to disagree. You've gotten to the point where even if you agree on something you'll change your stance just to spite them.

The US also said Iraq had WMD's. If trump said the sky was blue I would not believe him. How is that hydroxychloroquine testing going?

So if us intelligence is investigating that it might have leaked from the bio lab that was minutes away from the market, and was performing gain of function research on bat coronavirus at the time, does that still make it a conspiracy theory?
Just wAndering.

So sick of you two's shit, you bring your juvenile spat to every thread that we can't even get away from it. You are the friggin reason why RS sinks to a shithole. Why don't you two just go and start your own forum and tickle each other's balls!
