There's lots of "gaslighting" going on (that's a new term for me) attempting to make the "movement" look bigger than it is. The question is, who stands to gain from it? If we can answer that, we may know where it's coming from.

Oddly, a lot of the campaign being pushed is done by a single entity in Florida, registering domains for every single state, and starting Facebook groups for all of them. Someone on Reddit figured this out after some of the domains were registered without anonymous enabled. Appears to be people related to a gun lobby group.

So who is behind this group? :considered:

If you want to get into conspiracy theories, here's a potentially legitimate one to look into. Instead of blaming Bill Gates and "the rockerfellers" for everything Kappa

I also don’t like how millennials are taking the hit for all this (like most of us, were in our 30’s now with families). It’s the gen-Z kids in the posts above me. Seems like all the media and boomers still choose to blame us though

Jmac 05-24-2020 02:50 PM

Half of millennials don’t even know what a millennial is, so I don’t really blame the boomers for using *buzzword* in place of young people as the generations before them did.

SkinnyPupp 05-24-2020 03:35 PM

I think it's funny how boomers and millennials are fighting. Meanwhile, we Gen-Xers are getting ignored, just like always LUL

Looks like if you've recovered from coronavirus, it won't be long before you are no longer infectious, even if you still test positive

Based on a study of 73 patients. I would probably wait for a larger study.

Yup, nobody is claiming otherwise by sharing preliminary information

I guess that doesn't always "go without saying" when it's on the internet... Otherwise we'd still have people saying chloroquinine is a cure Kappa

Or that border restrictions are ineffective and masks do more harm than good.

First dine out experience this morning at Yolks, fairly average time seats were staggered with every other table open not many people came and went while we were there

Still virtually impossible to maintain 6 feet as you go to and from the bathroom but I guess this is somthing you have to accept because many restaurants will not be able to open period if you had to maintain 6 feet everywhere throughout

CivicBlues 05-25-2020 10:29 AM

Went to Crescent Beach this Saturday and dined out on a patio in the cool cloudy weather. I think I'll be fine doing only this for a few more weeks. Too bad most Asian restaurants don't have patios. Can't wait for my Pho/Ramen/Beef Noodle fix. Takeout sucks for those, we need to open up the streets for some Al Fresco dining, Viet style:

Yea any noodle dish takeout is wack

welfare 05-25-2020 11:27 AM

Trick with pho takeout is You have to boil the broth when you get home and combine right after, covering the bowl for a few minutes. Otherwise the noodles won't soften and separate without breaking up.
It's definitely not as good as eating in though obviously.

The ramen take out I got from gojiro was pretty great still by the time I got it home and that was all the way to north van.

Now might be a good time to supplement Vitamin D. Research shows it can lower the risk of respiratory infection by as much as 50% in people who are deficient and 10% in people who had normal levels. Note that none of this specifically applies to C19

This is important coming out of winter, most Canadians will be deficient, especially those with darker skin.

Followup to this. If you haven't started taking vitamin D supplements yet, start now. The more people whose bodies are equipped to fight the virus, the better it will be overall.

And unlike some other theorized treatments, vitamin D won't make you sick unless you take WAY too much.

Consider it, especially if you have dark skin, or don't get much sunlight every day. If you have parents who insist on sunblock all the time, make sure they supplement.

The actual trick is when you order pho for to go, request for the noodles to be uncooked.

So when you arrive home, boil up the broth. Put the raw noodles into a bowl. Pour boiling soup on top of the noodles and in seconds it's ready to eat without the mushy texture.

hirevtuner 05-25-2020 09:13 PM

talking about food, is it true that restaurants tack on a covid tax on the bill when you dine in?

Jmac 05-25-2020 09:49 PM

Some businesses (not just restaurants) have been adding a COVID-19 surcharge/fee, a tactic that likely makes it easier to fend off accusations of price gouging than simply raising their prices.
