I also bought two boxes, for our G37 it’s like 4 oil changes for under $100, pretty crazy

And yea I read a bunch of reviews before buying, lots of positive feedback on the oil and even some people running tests on it independently etc.

Badhobz 10-14-2023 08:07 AM

i always go by the 5000 mile *7000km* rule. as long as you change your oil frequently, it really doesnt matter what brand you use.

If youre gonna run like 15,000kms between each oil change then yeah, you should probably invest in better oil. But why bother subjecting your engine to extremes when oil is so cheap

MG1 I think you may have mentioned this in the past but is it possible to phone a Costco office and see if they have a certain product available anywhere in the lower mainland?

A TV I’m looking for (LG G3) is available online for delivery back east, but not locally. It’s the type of thing I have a feeling MIGHT be in-store at a location or two but I’d rather not be driving around all day going to 5 different costcos

Yes, you can call any Costco with the Item Number and they will tell you what Costco has stock and how many are left.

I am considering a new TV if you don't mind me asking what made you hit on this one and at Costco in particular? I know you are a discerning gentleman with your purchases :D

Hondaracer 11-09-2023 12:57 PM

I’m YOLOing and buying a “flagship” TV for my next model

Costco just provides peace of mind as A) their extended warranty is dirt cheap, and B) I think even if you didn’t buy the extended warantee you could just return the TV anyways

The Sony TV I really want is last years model, A95K which is the new tech “quantum dot OLED” which will be the next thing, however, the only place that Carries it is Best Buy and I refuse to deal with them.

If you’re willing to spend $2500 or so, the 65” LG C3 is by far the best deal out there for one of the best TV’s ever made. If your price range is hovering around 1500 or so, I think it’s 100000% worth it to buck up and get the C3, which is plentiful in-store at Costco

I may end up buying it myself if I can’t find the G3 and save $1500 or so

Badhobz 11-09-2023 01:09 PM

I bought this samsung model and i really like it

https://www.costco.ca/samsung-85%22-...000174754.html

The mini LED's with anti reflective coating and a shit ton of nits so even though its right next to the big backyard windows, its bright and clear

Razor Ramon HG 11-09-2023 01:13 PM

Is the flush/slim mount of the G3 worth the $1500? It's the same panel.

I don't think Costco covers burn-in unless they changed it. Only Best Buy does.

Hondaracer 11-09-2023 01:29 PM

There are a few other things like the G3’s heat sink etc. but yea I’m asking myself that question as I’m going to use an older 360 deg mount I already have since I need to mount it in the corner of my room..

Do you know if that BB burn-in warantee is just standard or do I need to buy the stupid geek squad extended warranty in order to have a claim of burn in?

You need the extended warranty.

I had a bunch of dead pixels scattered along the top and bottom of my LG C9.

I sent in a request through Best Buy's Geek Squad portal then they dispatched some guys from Audio Video Electronics to pick up my screen.

I guess LG didn't want to fix it because they gave me cost of my TV back on a gift card.

The heatsink is probably because the G3 panel gets a little bit brighter. Still not worth the extra cost IMO..

Hondaracer 11-09-2023 01:47 PM

That fucking geek squad warantee is like 599+ for 5 years ffs..

No way I’m gonna add that, I’ll just buy the C3 and drag it back into Costco after it “stops working” if it’s full of dead pixels.

I can’t with good conscience give a cent more to that ducking geek squad after the hell I went through with my range

Badhobz 11-09-2023 01:49 PM

i didnt get the extended warranty. I figured either its good or its bad within the first year. Plus these mini leds apparently wont burn in so no risk of that anymore vs OLED.

Costco will always take it back if you bitch hard enough.

Hondaracer 11-09-2023 01:52 PM

Yea mini LED seems like a good balance for the price, albeit you’ll never get the vibrancy or Color accuracy, nor the blacks, you’ll get with OLED/QD OLED

Blacks are a big thing for me (heheh) because my current TV, which was a top of the line model in 2016, is sooo washed out in dark scenes now

Razor Ramon HG 11-09-2023 02:04 PM

I went from a LG C9 to a Samsung QN90A.

I prefer the QN90A more since it gets much brighter, the whites are actually white vs. grey (I watch a lot of hockey so it's important), and no need to worry about burn-in.

I haven't noticed much difference in picture quality other than some very minor blooming. The local dimming has been great.

I imagine the newer mini LED panels are even better.

the blacks are really black with these mini leds. I know its hard to tell from this photo but it really is quite good.

p.s. hooked up with a mac mini like mine and you got a really great productivity/desktop that integrates perfectly with all your Apple shit. In my case i can take calls / text / straight from the TV.

Mini LED, when done properly can display excellent black. I once ran an Apple Pro XDR display side by side with an LG OLED, and it's almost shocking to know that the Pro XDR is not OLED.

But that thing costs like 3 times the LG OLED though. :fuckthatshit:

Big baller over here, $8K TV? God damn.

Badhobz 11-09-2023 05:22 PM

nah i bought it significantly cheaper than that. It was on sale a while ago for 6k and i got an additional 10% off from buying 3 samsung products at the same time (2 TV's and 1 sound bar) so i basically got the soundbar for free.

punkwax 11-10-2023 06:21 AM

Honda, you should know better than to by LG. Get your Sony.

Hondaracer 11-10-2023 06:30 AM

Yes I’m def a Sony man, last 4 TV’s have all been Sony and they’ve all been flawless.

Got baked last night and watched more reviews on the A95K and I think I gotta go that route even though it means Best Buy.

My current TV, XBR55X850B has been perfect since day 1 and I didn’t realize it’s actually a 2014 model so it’s served me well, hard to go against Sony

68style 11-10-2023 08:04 AM

I like a man who makes his final purchase decisions while baked

Hondaracer 11-10-2023 08:36 AM

Those are the ones you never regret……

6793026 11-10-2023 08:59 AM

wow 499 for 75 in tv even if it's Hisense...
75 inch 1394 for samsung.. at costco ...
dang... *ontario costco. fyi
