Speaking of Cuban, any of you old timers remember Cuban Lunch?

Apparently it's back again when the trademark expired.

Yes, the bread used is the what they sell in their bakery section and doesn't compliment the smoke meat. You also have to add your own mustard.

Had the absolute worst sandwich of my life in Cuba. The bread literally tasted like chalk.
Cuban sandwiches in the US though are great.

Cuba seems like just a budget destination for east coasters. Seems like it has zero redeeming qualities as a vacation destination.

Yes, they were pretty bad. I think we got lucky at our resort where the bread is kind of like the HK-style bread which was soft and nice. But as a sandwich, literally a slice of ham and some random cheese. It truly highlighted their economic situation. Ironic that the better Cuban sandwich in Miami is just across the water from Cuba.

Ditto. Lots of Toronto/Montreal-based people we met come regularly for a cheap vacation. Some people have been coming back to the resort we stayed at for years, and I'm like, WTF? They don't want to go to any other destination because they know what to expect and they got to know the staff on a personal basis. One couple we met at a dinner come back four times a year!

Upon boarding my flight on the way home, the flight attendant asked if I would come back. I was like, "I'd have to think about it" to be polite, and she jumped in and said, "So that's a no, hahahaha!"

^ of course, cause all cubans who can swim landed at Miami.
Cuba is not a place for those who wants high rolling fine dining experiences.

Actually Varadero is a very nice beach. Dunno how it is now with the Sargassum seaweed though. It was pretty sweet when we visited in 2016.

Havana is pretty cool too, it's like stepping back in time with all the 50s era Chevys around.

Yea outside of the resorts is a history lesson you won’t get anywhere else

Other than that though food and the general resorts etc. unless you’re paying out the ass seems like you’re getting very little (never been but the general sentiment of people I know who’ve gone)

Everything in Cuba is a history lesson because you are stuck in time. The check-in process at the airport in India was far better!

except delhi airport where you have to present your itinerary before you even enter the building. if you don't have a printed copy or an internet connection to pull it up you are screwed for your flight.

Oh, it was like this for me in Pune and Bangalore as well. They do this to make sure family and riff raff don't hang around.

When I went through security, they gave me a table tennis paddle and asked me to flip it over when I went through the metal detector.

I tried this smoke meat sandwich today. it was disgusting. I ended up throwing away this giant lun of a pickle and the nasty triangle bread

Only proper way to eat this is to throw it on their amazing poutine.

Since when is Cuba expensive? It's one of the cheapest places to get an all-inclusive is it not? Maybe I'm out of date.

Cuba has so much potential if that orange fuckhead didn't re-establish embargos and restrictions, an absolutely stupid move for modest political appeasement to Florida Cubans.

Combining a Costco poutine with their smoked meats is one of those times when 1+1=3.
