Ready for Gymkhana!

Also, if you narrow your eyes in person… and then keep narrowing them some more… and then throw lemon juice in one eye and punch yourself in the other, 320icar even LOOKS like Ken Block

Oh no... Y'all see that nice snowy ride pic above? Snow also hides hazards. Ran over god knows what at about mach 12, huge bang, stopped, noticed oil leaking, so something, couldn't find what actually did it, but something pierced the 3/8" UHMW skid plate, 1/4" aluminum skid plate I added, and cracked the transmission housing. This is not gonna be cheap...

I wouldn't replace the housing, not sure I'd remove it and have it welded. I'd clean it good and see if you can talk somebody into tig welding it on the vehicle. But even before doing that, I've jb welded worse cracks in transmission housings without issue.

Hmm... You're not the first person to suggest that, however I don't think you could get it clean enough to weld without stripping the case and parts washing it could you? I am half tempted to flip the machine on its side, clean the fuck out of it and weld it...

I'm sure you can get it clean enough, it doesn't have to be pretty it just has to work. There is no pressure in there, it isn't structural. Bernzomatic and others make a low temp aluminum brazing rod. I'd clean, then try that. If still concerned JB weld over it. Then spend the rest of the day making a beefier skid plate.

Not a chance in hell I’d try tigging that in place. Cast aluminum is shit on its own, never mind something that is guaranteed to have oil in the crack.

Take it off, clean it up. Grind it out, clean it up. Weld.
