I hope that’s rain I hear outside and not a swarm of ungodly insects. Stupid weather reports are so unreliable.

How do you guys seal the AC exhaust mount on the window, it's installed but now all the road car noise, kids playing is coming in. What's the best temp solution? I was thinking of adding some extra dynamat to the back facing out of the plastic panel. Maybe stuffing some cheap pillows on the in house side?

White noise machine. Fight noise with more noise. My kids seems to be ok with it.

I grew up on Powell Street in the DTES (the brick walled apartment that Deadpool was living in). Room was above a discotheque and the street below was always loud with people arguing and fighting. Police and amberlamps going by constantly. I slept through it all, as it was, literally music to my ears. Then we moved away to a house on Rupert Street. I couldn't sleep. Then moved to Walnut Grove. The frogs and fricken crickets drove me nuts. To this day, I miss the sounds of a busy street. I can't handle quiet. just not animals of the non human kind.

Anyway, keep on keeping on...................

Oh, and rain. Sweet, sweet rain. The best sound no matter where you live.

Not a heat wave but wtf is up with the weather today. Muggy af and had to bring out the portable AC. Done with the heat for this summer. Just keep it at a comfortable low 20s with minimal humidity

We're pretty much done for heat. Not enough daylight for land, sea, or air to heat up. We might experience an Indian Summer, but that's about it.

i really don't get how they measure the humidity, it's always way higher than what the 3 hygrometers I have in my apartment are. I have 3 diff branded ones in diff areas of the room/s.

they all show currently 44-46% relative humidity, but that website says it's 93. my phone app says 92... which is measured at the airport, which is ... where I am.

can someone clarify...

like wouldn't 92% basically almost be raining or have sweat dripping down the walls? or that feeling u get when you walk into an indoor swimming pool?

my windows are open as well, if I close them my relative humidity goes up about 8-10% to 55ish...

I know if I boil water on the stove/cook for a while, and the windows start to sweat, and the room feels warm and wet, the relative humidity goes up to 70-80.

how is it possible outside is 93% when it doesn't feel anywhere close to that...

If I move my hygrometers outside, they def wont read 93...

"relative humidity" is what weather reports use. It's measured outdoors and is a formula based on the temperature as well.. So if you're measuring humidity indoors it's going to be quite different

right... temp is a factor...

im going to move my hygrometer outside right now LOL...

edit: yeah so after about 25min... it stabilized at around 72%.

I'm maybe 1.5km from the airport and a bit higher up.

I guess naturally the brain is trying to anchor it down to absolute humidity.

Humidity is a relative number to the temperature. If you can put a number to it, it may be easier to understand.

Outside it’s 10 degrees. Relative humidity is 100%. So let’s say, at 10 degrees per parcel of air, it can hold 10 parcels of water. You take that same 10 degree air, and 10 parcels of water into your house and heat it up. You now have 20 degree air holding 10 parcels of water (more or less, let’s ignore anything evaporated within the household as your air is heated). So your relative humidity inside your house is much lower then outside.

When the outside air temperature is higher then the air inside your house, I suspect your RH is much closer to what the weather channel says. But saying that. Your furniture, and items in the house all have ability to soak in moisture so it’s not going to be completely the same. That would be my take on it at least.

As a stamp collector, I have to keep a really close eye on the humidity in the house. Anything over 50% and there's possibility of damage to the gum side of stamps. Especially to the older, more expensive ones with old school gum. Thank god, the houses I've lived in are/were dry. Cigar Aficionado's, same thing. Except different parameters.

Humidity and mold......... yikes! Ever been to a house where owners dry/hang their laundry in the house?
