I have a single hose Danby we bought from Costco like 4 years ago and i usually tried to drain it at the end of each summer and there would be barely anything. This year after a few weeks of running it i moved it and could hear the water in it so I drained it and there was probably a couple cups of water in it not sure what changed we always keep it on cool mode.

I wonder if mine is on the wrong mode.. I don’t have the manual and the symbols are super cryptic

On some Haier Portable Air Conditioners have an operating mode indicator.

Indicator color of operating mode and LED:

When Cooling mode is selected, the indicator light will be blue.
When Dehumidify mode is selected, the indicator light will be yellow.
When Fan mode is selected, indicator light will be green.
When Auto mode is selected, indicator light will be based on the operating mode

That's not true, lots of single hose units self evaporate their condensate. My LG is single hose and does this.

I stand corrected. I just googled.

GLOW 07-28-2022 07:17 PM

It sounds like we might have some refrig technicians here so I’ll ask this :

Is there anyway to recharge the free-on or whatever the juice is inside the portable ac units ? It’s easy enough to do in a car but for these portable units I can’t seem to find any way to service them.

No, they are cheap for a reason
Even the high end models are non serviceable (no ports)

Technically you could re charge it, but would require re brazing after puncture. And at that point, you have entered 2022, where we throw everything out that does not work, since it's cheaper to buy a new one :drunk:

Same as repairing a fridge / freezer

68style 07-28-2022 09:16 PM

I repaired my own fridge recently, kitchen aid with a faulty computer board… took it out figured out which capacitors were bad and then put it back in… ordered capacitors… pulled it out again and soldered 2 new capacitors in… good as new! Kitchen aid wanted $700 for a new computer board lol

I don't think so. My in laws one (same black one on sale) requires dumping or attaching that drain hose into a bucket

It has a self evaporating feature, but as stated, it's not a "does it 100% of the time".

I think the Danbys are self evaporating, but the tank is there just in case, like the dumb Asia like humidity we have right now.

Lol just got a call from my buddy, my heat pump gear was all just delivered at his warehouse... Just in time to miss the heat wave!

320icar 07-29-2022 02:04 PM

Decided to drain the AC’s. Both got maybe 2 cups. Not bad since they’ve been on full blast for weeks

Badhobz 08-01-2022 05:59 AM

heat's gone and my AC from costco still hasnt shipped yet. FML

whitev70r 08-01-2022 06:44 AM

Badhobz 08-02-2022 07:02 AM

I just got a shipping notice from Costco that says they'll ship it out this sunday (hopefully). what a long wait....

68style 08-02-2022 07:20 AM

I was in line to pay with my Mom at Costco on Saturday around lunchtime and actually heard some people come in and ask the guy organizing the lineup where they can find the AC machines hahahaha geezus

SkinnyPupp 08-02-2022 09:57 AM

Japan today, many places reaching 42 degrees in populated areas.

Badhobz 08-02-2022 10:28 AM

those poor hardworking JAV stars :QQ:

you guys also need to remember 35 degrees +45% humidity is much more comfortable than 35 and 70% humidity. North america is already quite comfortable because it's dry heat. The humidity is the nasties.

SkinnyPupp 08-04-2022 02:05 AM

Now they have flooding throughout the country, 250K people have been evacuated

Over here the weather is back to normal. After the July we had, 26-30 celsius feels nice and cool now lol. Don't even need AC on for most of the day

Just need to survive the next 45-60 days and then it's back to nice weather for 8 months

We were hovering in the 60% humidity and 32-33C last week. It was nasty.

Badhobz 08-04-2022 09:02 AM

BlackV62K2 08-04-2022 09:23 AM

July 29 the dew point was 23°c at night. When I let the dog out to pee all the windows of the cars were wet/foggy. I think that’s an all time record high ever for canada? Or something
