Seems Abbotsford can possibly berak the highest ever recorded temperature in Canada tomorrow

https://www.reddit.com/r/vancouver/c...he_record_for/

Current record high in Canada is 45C in Saskatchewan 1937
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ures_in_Canada

Edit: Lytton BC has set the new highest ever recorded temperature in Canada today with 46.1 degrees

GS8 06-27-2021 02:51 PM

I was in Chilliwack yesterday and got to experience a record breaking 41 degree weather. I was working too!

Basically felt like endless hair dryers at max hot setting surrounding you. I sweat from places I didn't think I could before.

Today, I'm just staying at home. I'm glad I bought a Dyson fan years ago. $$$ but worth it. The low frequency oscillation & buffeting of bladed fans get under my brain, especially when trying to sleep.

Abbotsford School District just called to say my son's school will be closed Monday and Tuesday, the final 2 days of the school year, due to the heat.

His daycare operates out of his school, so that's out too.

MG1 06-27-2021 03:45 PM

I was supposed to be in Abbotsford today. Good thing the event was canceled.

37 degrees in the living room right now............. went outside to water the plants and burned myself from the water. Forgot to let it run till the water from the long hose cleared.

MG1 06-27-2021 03:48 PM

Bill Good said a few days ago in as many words that we should not complain about a little heat. Yeah, Bill, what you gonna say now? If you think this is normal, you might be suffering from heat stroke.

Just received message from Vancouver school board; Vancouver schools will be closed on Monday. Thank god wife is a stay-at-home.

Are portable air conditioners basically sold out everywhere?

stewie 06-27-2021 05:26 PM

At my parents house right now and I washed my truck a few hours ago. My mom asked me to leave the hose out because she was going to water the plants. Left the hose on the ground in the grass and she got side tracked and forgot about it. Using the tap a few moments ago and the pressure was low... Heard water outside.. The metal coupling on the hose melted the rubber and the hose popped open and the back yard was just soaked like a swamp

Seems like it, spent the majority of the day hunting them down.

London Drugs on 41st and Victoria had a shipment today at around 2pm and when I heard about it at 430PM they had just sold out just before I got there at around 5... was pretty sad after lol

The search continues

Glad I spent last summer fixing up my patio, I basically spent all day on my north facing shaded patio like it was my living room.

Pro tip, a bucket with cold water to soak your feet in is surprisingly refreshing.

MG1 06-27-2021 06:51 PM

Can you imagine if, for some god forsaken reason, this became the norm? Nevermind covid, this would become the number one killer of the elderly.

I'm hanging out at the malls starting tomorrow........... until the casinos open on July 1st. I'll just tell guest services I'm making up for lost time, gulolol.

68style 06-27-2021 07:00 PM

I have 3 big fans pointed at my dog and 1 small one at me… #sacrificeforfurryfriends

StylinRed 06-27-2021 07:01 PM

T&T coquitlam had those budget ACs Friday, its those big fans that you fill with cold water

You guys could try HMarts too they had some similar units on Friday as well

is that the equivalent as putting bowl of ice in front of a fan, or does it operate/function differently?

metrotown was useless today for cooling down, felt like 30 degrees in there, their AC couldnt keep up

MG1 06-27-2021 08:19 PM

I was in Save-On-Foods at Northgate Village yesterday and it was like being in a walk-in freezer. Not many reasons to be there, though.

I’m actually glad I’ve been going to work the last few days because at least there’s AC

MG1 06-27-2021 11:40 PM

My Lindt Truffles are now, not so round and my Dark Chocolate Ginger Slab from Charlie's Chocolate Factory are liquified mush. Too late now, but I shoved them in the fridge. I'm searching the pantry for other things that wouldn't survive this heat.

At least I won't need a butter knife to spread Nutella onto my crepes.......... just pour it from the jar, gulolol.

Durrann 06-28-2021 07:04 AM

Only time looking forward to going in the office for ac

nismodrifter 06-28-2021 07:18 AM

Best of luck to all today, stay hydrated.

Euro7r 06-28-2021 08:21 AM

I was browsing facebook marketplace, the amount of dumbasses out there is unreal. There is a big demand, low supply for AC units. When that happens, obviously ppl will jack up their price. Kept seeing people comment "scammer" for those selling at higher than msrp. It's like fuck, how are they scamming anyone. Scamming would be lying about the condition of the item or taking someone money and not delivering the goods. Do these idiots expect people to sell it to you at discount? Simple supply/demand.
