lol, so MG1 was right on all fronts.

I called still creek Costco at 6:30am, they said they got 8 in but there were already more people in line than units and she said to not bother coming down.

Called Brighton, they got 44 units, so I went with the MIL, got there at 7:15am. There were probably 25 people ahead of us. Then 7:30ish, guy from Costco comes out and starts handing tickets, we get ticket #16. I looked ahead and there were a couple of younger people who didn't get a ticket. One guy admitted he was 58 and also didn't get one.

That said, kudos to Costco, of the 44 units they received they kept aside a portion for people who couldn't get in at 8am, so not everyone wasted their time.

That said, I saw 2 different people go to the ACs when we were waiting to collect, demanding they also get one. They were yelling at employees who were trying to explain people lined up much earlier than them, but they would not listen. I felt terrible for the employees. Entitlement has no age restriction, SMH.

Is the SACC for $500 the best for that price range? My research leads me back to the costco double house Danby one, which I'm planning to pick up before the smoke arrives to Vancouver. Since I'll probably need an air purifier too.

I think so, the Danby one is a rebranded Midea unit, which retails for $629. There's a couple single hose units that do outperform double hose ones, so don't get toooo hung up on the single/double thing.

This particular 'double hose' is two hoses in one so there may be a drop in efficiency.

Having a couple big mofos, whatever they may be, in Kelowna is probably a good idea though.

I was under the assumption these 747 tankers were more widely used after watching a few YouTube videos on them but that wiki article seems to lend itself to there not being very many.

I’d probably think of these were to be used they would have to be filled on the ground as opposed to picking up water from lakes. Edit* yeap, on the ground:

But one of them can hold 6 times as much as a regular bomber..

Probably just wishful thinking but if there was ever a time to consider somthing like this, now is the time

Conair is one of my clients, sitting on the beach at Skaha we watched an endless stream of their little fire planes coming and going from the Penticton airport.

Business is booming.

Yes,I made sure I let the guy handing out the tickets know they did a damn good job, as one really obnoxious lady kept giving the guy a hard time.

“I didn’t know, I didn’t know,” she kept screeching, gulolol. I felt like telling her, “You need to join Revscene.”

Got a quick question. Can you connect the exhaust hose from a portable AC unit to the dryer duct? I know it’s not just exhaust, but if the duct is pretty much straight out the side of the house, is it doable? It’s too hot to think about it, but HVAC people have answer?

Totally, yes you can!

Edit: I'll add, your typical dryer vent is 4", and AC vent hose is usually around 6" so you're going to have to MacGyver up an adaptor (or use lots of duct tape) but it should be fine.

Mon Dieu, I can make adapter to fit those magnetic connectors. That way I can quickly change over to dryer. Not that I would use a dryer this time of year. Sun dried boxers, ftmfw!

Actually, take that back, natural gas dryer, ftmfw!

This sounds like the same lady. She was yelling at the guy "Well I waited here since 7:40 too!"

Like bitch, seriously.

StylinRed 07-06-2021 02:41 PM

I read that connecting into your dryer vent could cause whatever you're connecting to it to clog up with dust, or help grow mould

I've no idea tho, I was reading on HVAC forums when I was thinking up ideas on how/where to exhaust my mining rigs

These are the assholes in society that need to be recorded and shared online. So that their employers/family/friends see what kind of bitch she is. Always treat others the way you would like to be treated.

Where at and when?

Costco’s depot got 500 and they were distributed not evenly to the locations.

Last night around 6pm on Costco.ca, caught a random restock

Danby 14K unit

Hakkaboy 07-07-2021 06:05 PM

The Danby 14K BTU/12K SACC is back in stock now.

https://www.costco.ca/danby-14%2C000...100715465.html

298 units and going down. I bought this in store, and will easily pay the extra $20 for shipping as the box weighs ~90 lbs.

donk. 07-07-2021 06:29 PM

Someone was saying a single hose unit outperforms a 2 hose unit
The ONLY time this is true, is if the single hose unit has larger actual BTU. Just because it says 12k, does not mean its actually 12k.
Not only are single hose massively less efficient, they also cost you more to cool the same amount a 2 hose would.

Two hose units > single hose unit

Why? Welp, go down the rabbit hole of hvac theory

CRS 07-07-2021 06:57 PM

I have the Costco Danby 14k and would recommend it.

Vansterdam 07-07-2021 07:46 PM

sucks you need a costco membership now to buy shit from their website

So, maybe MG1 not so old after all……….. unloaded the AC all by myself.

With help from a rolling platform. No lifting needed, lol.

Not worth the risk of injuring yourself! Age is nothing but a number. But don’t worry, everybody on RS knows that you’re young at heart and that’s the important thing. :p

Agreed! Bought it before the heatwave happened. You just have to be careful with the included window panel adapters. They are a bit too short for a full sized patio door and very flimsy.

I ended up attaching two pieces of aluminum track to lock all three pieces together and custom cut a piece of plexiglass to fully seal the patio door.

The app is a bit hokey and you need stable WIFI signal for it to work well. But man once it work, you can't go back to a timer based AC unit. Control temp from your phone ftw!

Curious why you're using it with a patio door? Do you not use that door?

inv4zn 07-07-2021 10:39 PM

For guys with this year's Danby 14K unit, is your temperature display and various mode lights illegibly dim?

Mine's like a suuper dim orange, can't read shit if more than a foot away.

Did I get a dud?
