Clutch saves from Canada’s goalkeeper in the penalty shootout!

Another gold medal for Canada!

Adding to Canada’s soccer legacy in the Olympics! These women bring the gold home!

Crazy comeback with the goal and save

hud 91gt 08-06-2021 07:07 AM

That’s an accomplishment. A game taken seriously around the entire world.

MG1 08-06-2021 08:06 AM

Sinclair gets the gold, finally...............

That team has some good players, but I bet a lot of them were inspired by Sinclair. After Fortius folded up tent, naming the facility Christine Sinclair Community Centre was a damn good choice.

Jessie Flemming is amazing when it comes to penalty kicks and the choice by the coach to replace Quinn with Julia Grosso in the second half was gold, literally. The goalkeeper for Canada. Can't say enough about her contribution to the team in these games. Simply outstanding. Without her, there would be no gold medal match.

And, East Van, at that.

Was listening to interview of proud papa and older sister. Every sentence ended with, right?

The sister does the same thing, right?

So good to hear an ordinary kid from East Van does our nation proud, right?

Anyway, we are definitely going to win more medals than ever before, right?

Okay, I'll stop.................. right?

yup she graded from Van Tech and I hear her dad owns the Portuguese Club on the drive.

whitev70r 08-07-2021 07:47 AM

^ Portugese club has really good food !!!!

whitev70r 08-07-2021 03:12 PM

Nice choice for Canada flag bearer for the closing ceremonies. Well deserved.

SkinnyPupp 08-07-2021 08:30 PM

Like Canada's goalie, Sarah Lee's mind games were on point before each heat in bicycle sprints. She's as intense an athlete as I've ever seen. She just won her second bronze, first was in 2012. That's 6 medals for HK, double their entire Olympic history POGGERS

Matsuda 08-07-2021 09:25 PM

^and we got gold in that!

SkinnyPupp 08-07-2021 09:36 PM

Oh shit you're right! I unfortunately missed the finals today but I've been watching the qualis for the last 2 days and Kelsey Mitchell has been GREAT to watch as well. So powerful

Funny when I google the event, the only finish it tells me about is the bronze because of geolocation FailFish

Teriyaki 08-07-2021 10:25 PM

Closing ceremony at 4am tonight, anyone gonna wake up for that :ahwow:

MG1 08-08-2021 01:40 AM

That's usually when I go to sleep.

I haven't been watching a lot of it (events).

Just switched to some coverage of cute little tarts dancing and prancing around throwing around red balls. Meh.........

Winter Olympics more interesting. At least for me.

MG1 08-08-2021 03:06 AM

PVR set and I'm off to bed. This way, I can fast forward to the good parts when I decide, or have time, to watch it.

SkinnyPupp 08-08-2021 04:53 AM

I watched part of it and it's just creepy and weird with an empty arena. I liked watching the athletes celebrate, but when the performances started, I bailed.

Too bad too, because from what I saw, it was a nice celebration of culture and performance, rather than the ostentatious displays some other countries do.

Hondaracer 08-08-2021 10:22 AM

The cycling last night was excellent. Loved the group part where they get eliminated lap by lap

Even more empty because only a portion of the athletes got to stay for the ceremony. If your sport was scheduled to end early, you were sent home already. If you were eliminated earlier on, you were sent home. It was a kind of weird seeing so little people there.

Such a shame the state of hosting these games. All the venues looked amazing some of the road cycling races alone made me want to go to Japan and experience some of the more rural areas etc. Unfortunately I doubt they will even see much of a tourism boost because of the games due to the outside perception of them being a country full of unvaccinated people.

Japan in general seems to have a way of sorting things out but these games could very well be as much as a boon to Japan as Montreal was for Quebec

whitev70r 08-12-2021 01:08 PM

Recent development, if it holds true, the Canadian boys can change their bronze for a silver!
