I know the wrap isn't finished but it reminds me of Nintendo Switch KEKW

Amazing shots. Where’s the bridge shot?

twitchyzero 07-01-2022 01:03 PM

The Dalles, OR

track is 45 min away from it, has mini faux half pipes! thanks tss & rs
luckily there’s breeze there unlike feeling like the oven pit that is a27

Badhobz 07-01-2022 03:08 PM

i wish we had a half decent track close to vancouver, not 5h+ away. I would totally buy a more sporty car instead of all the GT cars i enjoy.

68style 07-01-2022 05:07 PM

VIMC is pretty good

twitchyzero 07-01-2022 07:43 PM

as exhausting as it is, I’m not convinced ferry and 4am wake-ups are really ideal either

vimc ferry/reso got cancelled once

the feel of the track is so very different too..we did a sim night and watched videos but the real thing is quite different due to elevation

^ totally. For those of us on the Mainland, the cost of the ferry trip sucks. But the drive + ferry ride actually makes the trip super relaxing.

I love the drive along Hwy 3 to Oliver too. Yeah, it's a 4 - 5 hour trip. But once you're beyond Hope, it is a super enjoyable drive.

For those of you who go to VIMC, do you take the Nanaimo or Swartz Bay ferries? I see its almost smack in the middle between the two.

I could imagine cancelled ferries being a crappy experience. Miss the ferry, traffic jams, miss tech inspection. GG.

hud 91gt 07-02-2022 08:29 AM

My family has a place right close to VIMC, I make the trip often.. Tsawwassen to Duke Point is definitely closest, but the ferry is 30 minutes longer. Works great if you have a reso. If no reso, Victoria is much better as they are consistently more often, and I seem to find they have more no reso space
On each ferry. BUT if your going through Victoria during any traffic period on a Friday-Sunday, avoid like the plague. There is a science hah.

Coles notes:
Duke point if times line up and you have a reso.
Departure Bay to avoid Victoria traffic with reso
No reso, Victoria (avoid Friday afternoon for sure)

+1 for VIMC (Day trip ferry is great because no need for hotels)

By distance, Nanaimo terminals are closer to the track but I've taken the Swartz Bay ferries more often because it really depends on what your plans are for the trip (if any) and where you're staying

To all of you guys who can do a VIMC day trip from the Mainland:

It’s pretty chill actually. Nap in your car on the way there, nap while waiting/on the ferry for the way home. Hotel is nice but totally not necessary

Badhobz 07-04-2022 07:44 AM

before this thread, i didnt even know about VIMC. The track looks quite good (compared to boring ass mission). Not as good as Area 27, but close enough and much more reasonable transit time.

BC ferries should do a promotion w/ VIMC and give us free ferry rides if we buy a package deal for the season. :ilied:

I had more fun at VIMC than I did a27. VIMC is tight and almost gave me motion sickness, but it’s fun for all power levels and flows quite nicely. After probably 1 session you’re comfortable on most corners and can start dialing the nuances.

A27 on the other hand even after 2 days I was struggling. One of the biggest issues is the track design and setup (braking zones etc) are clearly set up for high power high speed cars (well above the FBO RS) and the flow just didn’t feel intuitive. Still fun, but once you factor in cost, distance, hotel etc I’d rather do 3 VIMC days for 1 a27 day

What time do track sessions start at VIMC? Or does this vary by club to club?

Food for thought (I am being selfish here) PCA UCR and BMW CCA track sessions at CTMP open at 7am and you need to be in the tech inspection line no later than 8am. Miss the tech line? Come back tomorrow. They make exceptions but for all intents and purposes, they tell you to GTFO.

CTMP can be far as hell for a lot of people, or even those in the GTA have to leave their homes by 6am latest to be there on time. Hotels in surrounding areas get booked up super fast or you camp on site. Some clubs, you don't show up at the gate by 7:30am, they tell you to GTFO and that's it for your track weekend.

Versus on the street?

Great68 07-06-2022 12:54 PM

It's such a shame that they're having such a battle against north cowichan residents to expand the VIMC track. From what I hear, they're supposed to add a kart track too.

bcrdukes 07-06-2022 01:51 PM

What's the battle about?

Coles notes: VIMC was approved for an xxx sized race track. So they spent $50m building the current track that’s only xx size. Then cowichan gets pushback from a tiny <but loud> minority who don’t want it there. And now say VIMC isn’t really allowed and not authorized to expand. VIMC sues cowichan because they wouldn’t have spent 50m building a tiny track unless they could also build the larger track (that they were previously authorized yes for).

It’s like 12 people who complain. Everyone else there loves the track. Those 12 ppl complain about the noise of the track which you can barely hear, yet the road outside is a 100kmh zone so trucks passing by are significantly louder. Fucking boomer karens
