The guy I posted before nfkrz, the Russian vlogger he has some good videos explaining the situation many Russians who left Russia during this time are in.

People who aren’t substantially wealthy who left Russia to avoid conscription are basically fucked. Places like Georgia etc. where many Russians fled to are going to eventually cut off residency applications becsuse the influx is Russians is just fucking over the native population in terms of rent prices etc.

Also a Russian outside of Russia can’t apply for a European visa, so they can really only travel within these countries that have open tourist policies where you can stay for 6 months to a year without having a visa. Schengen zone is even stricter obviously with its 90 of 180 day rule.

People like him who have made a living highlighting the regime will almost certainly be arrested upon returning so he talks about looking to buy a citizenship in South America etc. because the options are so limited now

It's also very difficult to get money out of Russia. I've posted before about our friend who's lived in Moscow the last 10 years, left after the war started. His wife is still there waiting on Canadian Visa to get out, he still works remotely teaching english but he's paid by a Russian company to a Russian bank account, his wife can access the account he cannot use the funds here in Canada. He can't just change which account the funds are deposited to, they don't want that money leaving the Country.

Leaving the country Russian customs will also search you and take all paper Russian money as well so it doesn't leave the country.

This article is a good read. Ukraine's drone hunters. They use thermal sensors and their assault rifles to shoot down the Russian drones that Iran supplies. TLDR;

- it usually takes between 2-5 years to get Portuguese citizenship (ironically my wife just got hers and even being on top of everything from start to finish it was just over 2 years)

- Portugal passed a law in the last few years descendants of Jews who were exiled from Portugal under the dictatorship could apply for residency

- when Russia began to fall apart Roman Abramovich applied under this new law

- Roman Abramovich was granted a Portuguese passport in just over 2 weeks

I had some family members arrive from the Lviv Ukraine last week, a family of 5 no surprise they are going to Sask. which is heavily Ukrainian and where my family originally settled when they came here. It was a bit of an ordeal to get everything in place paperwork wise for my family members that took it on props to them.

They had a program where free flights were available however they were very difficult to get so my extended family put money together to get them here. They have found a house for them in a little town about an hour east of Regina. They will have some costs covered for the first three months by the Ukrainian Crisis Committee, I believe they have some jobs leads for the dad.

My aunt met them at the airport they speak very little english, the kids are 9, 14 and 17 and have had their life obviously disrupted, I remember moving how hard it was moving to another province at 14 I couldn't imagine how bad it would be going to another Country with nothing and not speaking the language.

Hopefully they can pickup english quickly and build a life here.
