Putin about to speak now; it will take about 5-10 mins to get a reliable translation.. Standby! |
Putin: This is equivalent to armed mutiny. Russia will defend itself. We are fighting for the life and security of our citizens, and our territorial integrity. Everything must be done to put this to rest. It is an attempt of subversion. It is treason. This is a stab in the back of our troops in Russia. Will wait for a full translation for the rest; He is going on and on talking about how mad he is, and how Prigozhin will be brought to justice.. If there was any hope Prigozhin would have Putin's support, forget it. |
So it's officially a coup attempt I guess. Not possible with 25K troops, but with reports of MoD soldiers switching sides, if that is legit and continues, the entire military might turn on Putin. Or at the very least, they become so consumed with fighting on their own land, Ukraine can make significant advancements in taking back their territory. |
UK MOD recap |
They're halfway to Moscow already... It won't take long to find out which way this will go - will the Russian military fight them, or switch sides? |
^ When RS gives better summaries than CNN |

Anyway, fight footage is starting to come out, so it looks like the Russian air force at least is fighting them. Wagner shot down a plane in the Voronezh region, waiting for someone to tweet it. There's a video of a plane going down taken from a Russian's back yard. Insane Edit here it is, holy SHIT |
Unbelievable |
Apparently Telegram is down in Russia, so news has stopped... I guess I can go on with my life for now LUL |
Unconfirmed |
:ahwow: |
It's a game of chess ... reports saying that Wagner group will stop the march to Moscow to avoid bloodshed. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-europe-66006142 |
Rebel militia group cares more about civilians than the sitting government. What a world. |

Prigozhin probably won't live to see the end of the year, I think he would have been better off going through with the whole thing and going out with a bang. Putin is not known to hold true his word and he's way too paranoid to let Prigozhin live. Nor does Prigozhin have anywhere to hide at this point as he'd be crucified in a western country. |
i read his name and pronounce it like perogies He's got a potato head to match too. |
That's too bad, was hoping to watch Putin shit his pants with the uprising. But then if Prigozhin did succeed, wonder if there'd be a worst monster in control of Russian nukes. What a friggin warped world we live in! |
Just woke up and the fucker is giving up, and not being charged? wtf LUL Even experts don't know what to say He's moving to Belarus, and Russia says anyone in Wagner can join their military to avoid being charged with treason |
Lol |
What kinda weak ass shit is this. He’s gonna get a bullet in Belarus anyways. |

Reading the latest updates, that was a huge dud.... I was just getting popcorn ready too. |
Prigozhin guy have been a hero ... even if he died on the sword. Would have went down in history for standing up to Putin. I sense that a lot of the avg Russian citizens doesn't agree with the Ukraine invasion. Would have shaken things up, I think. |
From CNN: One video, geolocated and verified by CNN, showed crowds cheering as Prigozhin’s vehicle departed Rostov-on-Don. The vehicle stopped when one individual approached and shook Prigozhin’s hand. “Why are average Russians on the street cheering people who just tried to carry out a coup?” Dougherty said. “That means that maybe they support them or they like them. Whatever it is, it’s really bad news for Putin.” I agree with Jill Dougherty, CNN’s former Moscow bureau chief. The average Russian has a different view of Putin now. He looks weak. If Mr. Potato Head Prigozhin can challenge Putin with his own Wagner mercenaries, some Russians will think a coup is possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
