There always seems to be one team favourite for the FIA

Or maybe as fans we just notice it more often when the winning team gets leeway (ferrari, red bull, brawn, Mercedes, red bull)

Yeah first it was Ferrari during the Schumacher years (Ecclestone has said as much), then Mercedes, now it's Red Bull LUL

But I am talking more about luck and circumstances rather than a conspiracy.. Just that most breaks go their way. When something bad happens, like the pit stop, it's their own fault. But things that aren't their fault, the breaks seem to only go their way.

Hondaracer 10-26-2022 01:52 AM

We’ll look how far behind merc was with their car design this year. They obviously came into it thinking they could compete given the results of last year and they weren’t even close

Judgement on Red Bull cost cap breach:

Amount of breach was ~£1.8Mil (1.6%). Apparently £1.4Mil of that was a mis-application of a tax credit, so had that been properly applied the total amount over the cap would have been ~£400k (0.37%).

Penalty:
- $7million fine
- 10% reduction in allocated wind tunnel testing and CFD limits
- Co-efficient used to calculate allocations drops from 70% to 63%
- Red Bull pays all the costs incurred as a result of this investigation and ruling

As I said earlier in this thread, I would reserve my judgement until I saw the details. Now knowing the details, this is hardly outrage worthy to me and the penalties seem reasonable but those who feel it should be harsher, you do you.

In other news, Fernando's P7 has been reinstated

Now this one is more whack!

Haas protests late - stewards accept even though it was outside the time limit after the race (1hr instead of 30 min)
Alpine protests - disallowed
Alpine protests the disallowed protest - allowed to proceed
Fernando gets his P7 back. WTF?

FIA is a clown fiesta

StylinRed 10-30-2022 12:10 AM

Anyone know where I can stream the race later today?

I'm on a plane, and even with the ultimate WiFi package, I can't connect to the TSN app (even tried GPS spoofing) but I'll still be on this flight during the race :okay:

Danny Ric flashes of his old self when he got on the softs. And #dotd. Great to see from a boring race.

I think that the punishment against Red Bull is fair.

Judging from the actual overage, I'm ok with the RB punishment as well.

Eff-1 11-01-2022 12:55 PM

This was the first race I watched the 30-min condensed version and tbh I really enjoyed it. I may never watch a full race again until next season.

I'm a big fan, been watching since I was 12 years old. I can't help but think these seasons are getting a bit too long now.

While this year's car allows for closer racing, I think F1 still has a lot of work to do to bring more parity across the teams to make it more exciting, especially if you're going to keep adding races to the calendar and extending the season. We can only rely on Netflix's fabricated drama so much before the racing needs to speak for itself to keep the new fans interested.

The Producer 11-01-2022 01:08 PM

my wife just said yesterday "can you believe there's only 2 races left?"

my reaction:

I'm tired of the season. TBH it's been kind of boring. I miss the last gen cars.

Don't get me wrong - I'll be stoked for Bahrain in the spring, but I'm pretty done w 2022

nismodrifter 11-01-2022 01:10 PM

boring. hamilton 2023

Eff-1 11-01-2022 02:11 PM

I think I prefer the close racing the current gen cars bring over the last gen. We still however need more parity between the teams because right now RB and Max are running away with it, the same way Lewis and Mercedes did for so many years until last season.

Hopefully next year Mercedes brings a better car and puts more of a fight to Red Bull. I could still use about 5 less races though.

POLE POSITION KMAG!

StylinRed 11-12-2022 12:48 AM

Didn't know there was a sprint race this weekend so I was preparing to watch quali tomorrow morning, then I get kmag on pole notifications! lol wtf

SkinnyPupp 11-12-2022 07:48 AM

I've never seen anyone so happy

So is he P1 for both the sprint and the race?

Which btw is weird to do

sprint only. sprint determines the race order

StylinRed 11-12-2022 11:26 AM

Poor perez, asked for verstappen to switch position so he could get an extra point, and RB were just like

Hondaracer 11-12-2022 12:46 PM

Imo I prefer this racing to last seasons as well, while Verstappen kinda ran away with it I think the racing as a whole has been more exciting

You gotta give it to Mercedes, they basically pulled their car out of the gutter and refined it back in a way to he seemingly more competitive than Ferrari down the stretch. What makes it even more impressive is that the car basically looks very much the same as it did when they started, and it’s still one of the more unique looking designs of the pack

you know what's really weird?

kmag isn't just the pole winner for the sprint, he's the pole winner (and the point getter for it) for the entire weekend

George will start on pole tomorrow, but doesn't get the point for it.

I like the sprint - it's a cool change of pace, but the point system doesn't make any sense.

EDIT: forgot to shit on Lance Stroll again. what an absolute POS and embarrassment to the sport. quit running people off the track asshole. Somebody is going to get killed by this absolute fool.
