Ottawa police said that one person is in custody but their operation is ongoing after warning the public to avoid the area of Dalhousie Street to the Rideau Canal and the Mackenzie King Bridge due to an ongoing police operation
Ottawa police said officers were responding to a “suspicious incident” but it remained an active call and no further details were immediately available.
OC Transpo said that O-Train Line 1 service was suspended between the uOttawa and Parliament stations due to police activity. Regular service was underway between Tunney’s Pasture and Parliament stations and uOttawa and Blair stations.
The transit provider also said Rideau station was closed.
Witnesses at the scene said police with guns told them to leave. Some also said they heard an announcement telling them to evacuate the mall.
Nick Fanning arrived at the Rideau Centre early Tuesday afternoon to conduct deliveries. He was heading towards the service elevator when police carrying rifles swarmed the area.
“As I went to get in there were 20 plus cops flooding out, guns up. Not pointed, but up,” he said in an interview outside the mall as police continued to direct traffic through the area.
Multiple Ontario police forces have officers in downtown Ottawa on nearby street corners as part of the response to the freedom convoy protests. The officers Fanning saw appeared to be Ontario Provincial Police. They wore no helmets but carried service rifles and told patrons and staff to evacuate the mall.
“They we’re aggressive, not pushing people but screaming,” he said.
He took out his phone outside the mall and captured footage of an officer carrying a rifle telling onlookers to vacate the area.
“It’s not safe,” the officer shouted.

I feel bad for all those mall workers. The mall was forced to close the last 3 weeks and they can't work and lose wages. And now this.

It was taken by his official photographer. trump only cleared the area long enough for the photo op. JT cleared it so residents could walk across the street wearing a mask without being harassed. Majority of Canadians wanted the occupation to end.

And now this. | The class action lawsuit that a 21 year old girl is leading is supposedly seeking damage for residents and businesses affected by the protest. Of course, even if they win, it'd be years before the dust settles from all the appeals and such.
Personally, I am really worried about this girl. She is already receiving threats and online harassments since coming forward to lead this, and it is only going to get worse as the case really proceeds.
