Still, as much as I want to see Canada coming out on top, or even just holding Croatia off to a tie, I'm putting my $$$ on a Croatia win.

I watched the first 3/4 of that game and damn, that Polish goalie!

Lots of examples of absolutely pathetic diving by the KSA team. Glad they lost even though I usually root for the underdogs

I don't watch a lot of soccer but their passing is really inaccurate and pretty sloppy. I like the way they attack on the forecheck (or whatever the soccer equivalent of that is) and that's what led to that early goal and a few more chances

Canada has been outplayed just massively this game. Exciting for like 10 minutes then it was just a rout.

It is more like Croatia fucking Canada instead of what Herdman said to his team after they played Belgium. FeelsBadMan

Well, Croatia showed their quality and Herdman's tactical naivety with a weak midfield to start.

Still proud of the team though for making it this far - qualifying for this World Cup wasn't supposed to happen in this cycle.

We were outplayed no doubt, and the score suggested we were routed as well. But I'd have to disagree that we were massively outplayed in the game. Croatia got back into the groove and never lost its confidence after conceding the early goal. We cracked when they dialed up the pressure after equalizing, and it didn't look pretty for the remainder of the first half. But we regrouped (in the 2nd half) and kept fighting. It's true that Croatia defended well, and our boys were out of gas both mentally / creatively and physically to penetrate the penalty area. We lacked the experience and the strength to penetrate a tough defence. But we were a pest throughout the 2nd half, and we kept Croatia on their toes.

The 4th (Croatia) goal, in particular, didn't mean a heck of a lot at all. It was so late in the game that it really changed nothing for either team.

If Croatia was fucking Canada, at least we bitch slapped them good while we were getting fucked. We cracked under pressure in the latter part of the first half, but we kept fighting and made Croatia worked for the whole 90+6 min of the game.

It wasn't the outcome we had hoped for, but there was nothing to be ashamed of.

The narrative here and in social media (that Canada sucked and should have won) really doesn't do this team justice. But that's expected when the media hyped up the game for bandwagoners.

We aren’t saying they sucked. I’m saying Croatia played substantially better, which a 4-1 outcome in the worlds most low scoring sport would indicate. Croatia just had way more stamina and it showed in the offset in offensive zone pressure.

Or an analogy that RS can understand and appreciate...

Canada is participating in practically their first world Cup and it showed. We had spunk and came out fast and strong, not dissimilar to Jesse on his race in his VW. Everything on the line, do or die and it looks decent enough at the beginning. As the game went on though, Croatia being the experienced players took over the game and yelled a "too soon junior" and just ran away with game. At the end of the day, everyone else is now scrambling to understand what happened when this is basically the inevitable outcome.

Next game we come out and get put to death forever.

^ it's over for the tournament. Canada cannot advance, will get a nice participation ribbon and that's it. Hype over.

Croatia simply played better as the game wore on. Their strong midfielders and constant pressure in the offensive zone wore down Team Canada.

I am damn proud of Team Canada. I think this team earned the respect of many soccer/football fans and other teams in this tournament.

-will be interesting to see how the team can get better before the next World Cup.

A superstar in Alphonso Davies and his team mates who play in their club teams in pro leagues will only get better.

Canada, U.S, and Mexico will be hosting the World Cup in 2026.

-would love for a chance to buy tickets to a World Cup game to watch it with friends at BC Place in four years.

What happened here? ... Herdman needs to grow up. Canada didn't lose because of what he said, they lost it on the field, but c'mon Herdman ... this is your 1st World Cup, stay humble.
