It takes 2 to dance. So Herdman didn't see the Croatia coach after the game. We literally have no idea why that was the case. Perhaps he was too busy talking to his team. Perhaps he had too much on his mind after the game. Perhaps he wasn't being professional. But we just don't know.

On the other hand, Mr. Croatia manager was the one that gave the thinly veiled jabs. I don't have a problem with him saying what he said, but it just made him look salty / vindictive to keep harping on Herdman. Usually, the Brits are really good at this sort of polite passive aggressiveness. I'd say he still needs some time to learn this sort of thing lol~

I am looking forward to the next World Cup. Some of our best performing players in this WC are really quite young:

Alphonso Davies is 22
Ismaël Koné is 20
Jonathan David is 22
Tajon Buchanan is 23

A number of other solid players are also in the 24 - 25 yrs old range right now. As a footballer's best years are usually in the 25 - 29 range, the next WC would put these guys right in the prime age zone, or just past it. The sportscaster was saying (without providing additional details) how a number of European clubs have taken interest in some of the Canadian players, so playing professionally in those environments will no doubt further develop them.

A superstar in Alphonso Davies and his team mates who play in their club teams in pro leagues will only get better.

Canada, U.S, and Mexico will be hosting the World Cup in 2026.

In hindsight, Herdman should have probably been more discrete to the media. On the other hand, this shouldn't take anything away from what Herdman accomplished this cycle.

As I predicted, Belgium was the game to take points. Croatia was always going to be the more difficult game and their class showed.

It'll be interesting to see who goes to Europe next and whether or not Jonathan David gets transferred.

Can these fans fuck off with all the whistling? Seriously why do fans want to make soccer so annoying to watch?

SkinnyPupp 12-01-2022 07:34 AM

Canada looks like a new team after subbing 3 players.... Within inches of tying it

Needs more vuvuzelas

Definitely some mixed emotions about the 3 games. Canada played really well in spurts, but made mistakes that cost the team points. The team also just doesn't have the quality (yet) to take points off the best in the world. This game was basically a microcosm of that - terrible gaffe from Borjan in the opening 5 minutes and a crossbar that was a bit too wide. Realistically, their ceiling was 4 points.

For context, Morocco has been to multiple world cups and this is their first advancement to the Round of 16 since 1986. The fact that Belgium scored only 1 goal hurts more, knowing that was the game Canada needed something from.

honestly I'd take that over the whistling

Constant whistling at opposing players is done in many parts of the world in soccer/football. North Americans "boo" players.

Canadian soccer players have had it much, much worse over the years considering they play in CONCACAF. Terrible fields, bags of urine thrown at them from the stands, fire alarms in the middle of the night in hotel rooms, and everything in between.

What a crazy group stage so far, though. Belgium, Germany, and Denmark - all eliminated.

whitev70r 12-01-2022 04:15 PM

Is there like a consolation match/game as in other sports tournaments where Canada play Qatar to see who is the worst?

Welp, at least we know Canada will be in the next World Cup ... regardless.

I get fans whistling or "boo"ing players when they do something dirty or bad.. But not these fans . They whistle non stop when the other team has the ball, it's just annoying. Especially because Canada had possession like 90% of the time after the 2 goals were scored. LUL

I'll keep watching games, but if fans annoy me I'm out. It's hard enough to watch soccer because it's really difficult to make exciting plays, so it's really rare to see them.

Senegal beats Egypt in PK.
Senegal qualifies for WC, Egypt knocked out.

EDIT: Apparently Egyptian fans did the same thing to Senegalese players during the first leg in Egypt. Score: Egypt 1 - Senegal 0.

Just watched highlights of the Japan game. I think this will be their new flag.

Yeah in that case the team should be disqualified

Also just want to say that I have nothing against fans trying to disrupt the opposing team with noise. I just don't like that it also disrupts my experience lol

IMO it should be limited to what sounds you can make with no aid - no instruments, whistles, etc. I know some people can whistle real loud, but a lot of them just use actual whistles FailFish

You mean Korea?

Korea is too yeah

AzNightmare 12-05-2022 10:59 AM

Brazil making it look too easy

pastarocket 12-05-2022 12:05 PM

As expected, Brazils' offensive talent is too much for South Korea.

South Korea was trailing in the game after only seven minutes.

Richarlison, Neymar, etc. scored goals.

FYI: Neymar 7th goal for the Brazil puts him only second behind Pele in the history of the Selecao.

Brazil vs. Croatia in the quarterfinals. I pick Brazil in that match on Friday. Croatia's older defence will be exposed when Brazil is on the attack.

pastarocket 12-06-2022 08:57 AM

Morocco beats Spain in penalty kicks!

Wow, the Moroccan goalkeeper made some big saves.

Morocco defended well against Spain despite the Spaniards carrying the play for most of the match.

StylinRed 12-06-2022 09:23 AM

Did not expect Morocco to do that before the game, wow!

Is Ronaldo benched for the game today?

Yes. The team manager dropped Ronaldo from the starting lineup before the Portugese play Switzerland today.

What a baby! Poor attitude from the team captain. -sulking like a kid.

He is past his prime. You would think this superstar athlete would learn how to be humble and recognize that the manager's decision to put in another player instead of him is what is best for the team.

CR7 is gonna get paid 200 million Euros per season with a two year contract with the Saudi team Al-Nassr. He got a big bag from Al-Nassr.

That bag of money should soften the blow to his ego. LUL

mikemhg 12-06-2022 04:01 PM

Imagine ending your career on a team like Al-Nassr :lol

Jeez.

Meanwhile Messi will likely end his career on PSG.
