They go back to Tampa and lose another one ... then it's 3-3. Then it will be anyone's series!

AM34 definitely gonna be the scapegoat and make all the headlines

this team is so fucked on cap after this season lol

spoon.ek9 04-26-2023 08:37 AM

As much as I hate to admit it, I really think this is the year they don't fuck it up. It'll be the first time since 2004. It's been a good run :alone:

I had that feeling from the beginning of the playoff's which is why I picked all Leafs in a playoff pool I'm in. The big test will be against Boston, if they can some how win I can see them cruising straight to the finals.

whitev70r 04-26-2023 09:12 AM

^ their reward for getting past round 1 are the big bad Bruins ... their nemesis. I doubt they will get past Boston. Then the questions will come, is getting knocked out in round 2 enough to save the front office and not blow this team up.

Hondaracer 04-26-2023 09:34 AM

I like Edmonton getting to the final better than the Leafs

If Edmonton can find some depth scoring as they did last night they might be able to outscore any goaltending deficiencies

westopher 04-26-2023 10:14 AM

If skinner can play good, not even great, oil can do well.
I'm afraid leafs are gonna win this series. I love having that to hold over their heads.

spoon.ek9 04-26-2023 10:23 AM

I mean, if we're looking at the bright side, Leafs fans have been suffering for the last 56 years. I 100% agree though, it's been such a pleasure watching them toil in pain.

It is possible that they both get to the SCF ... I mean anything is possible.

It can't happen but those are the teams I put in my playoff pool, good thing the pool was free LOL

spoon.ek9 04-26-2023 03:07 PM

having an all Canadian SCF is Gary Bettman's nightmare

McKinnon tripped over a Kraken player's foot incidentally, and started spazzing out at the ref, costing them a goal

Not a good look for the leader

whitev70r 04-26-2023 07:20 PM

Don't know one thing or player from Seattle .. but pretty impressed with them, going toe to toe with Avs.

whitev70r 04-26-2023 10:03 PM

Are you kidding me? Seattle 3-2 over the reigning SC Champs? Do we have an upset in the making ??!!

AzNightmare 04-26-2023 10:55 PM

Fucking hell....

Please move Canucks to another city and let Vancouver start fresh as an expansion team.

Hondaracer 04-27-2023 06:56 AM

Watching teams like the Kings and Kraken I don’t know why the Canucks can’t be those teams. I’d say overall the Canucks have more skill than both. Just need to get their shit together

The team is not the same team as last year. They move some players around, and also had to make some room to sign MacKinnon to a nice big contract. Like it or not you still need the lower end guys, and the top guys that get paid can't carry the team to win the cup. Its not like basketball.

68style 04-27-2023 07:37 AM

There's some weird shit going on in Colorado too... I mean Makar was suspended for last night's game... and I don't know what the deal with Nichushkin is? All kinds of crazy stories online about what happened to him and I have no idea which one is true... but he was a major play driver for them last year almost to Conn Smythe levels.

whitev70r 04-27-2023 08:01 AM

^ just heard a familiar name associated with the Kraken ... Jared McCann ... a 40 goal scorer this season. It was Makar who put a big hit on him against the board and got suspended. McCann was out of game 5 with the injury.

McCann started out in VAN, went to FLA, then PIT, then SEA and now peaking there.

if you didn't hear his name until now you have been living under a rock :lol

whitev70r 04-27-2023 09:42 AM

Just kinda heard his name associated with the Kraken recently ... yes, of course heard of him from the days he was here and the Canucks gave up on his development. Having said that, I think it did take 7-9 years before McCann peaked at this moment.

AzNightmare 04-27-2023 11:36 AM

"It is what it is".

spoon.ek9 04-27-2023 12:00 PM

I wasn't a fan of the McCann trade back in the day. We got Gudbranson and a 5th rounder in return. Wasn't a good fit with Guddy and now McCann is a legit forward.

bobbinka 04-27-2023 12:34 PM

Mccann spent 3 years with florida, then 3 years with penguins and had a high of 14 goals and 35 points at that point. Virtanen had a high of 18 goals and 36 points at that same time. Both were busts for what they were supposed to be.

The leafs even paid to acquire Mccann from the penguins for the sole purpose of the expansion draft. I think that says enough.

I think Seattle was his last shot in the NHL and luckily for him, being on an expansion team meant he got more opportunities to play more minutes than he had ever before. He put up 27 goals and 50 points but was still a minus 26 on the season. It's only this year that he took off to put up 40 goals, 70 points, and a plus 18.

I don't think he would've been able to do the same on any other team, and he certainly wouldnt have made a difference for the Canucks in those 6 years.
