But she's sooooooooo nice when she doesn't have to be

Bonus. My Disney+ subscription.................. subscribed to watch Marvel movies and such.

Okay, maybe I'm a Swiftie, after all............ Eras Tour streaming on Disney+

I can see why she is so popular. Songs and lyrics are straight forward and from her experiences. Not sure how much of the production is her, but it works.

Her voice has changed so much that when she sings her earlier songs they just sound a little off. It's like Shania singing her earlier songs. Anyway............ still good stuff.

Man, this girl is like the Energizer Bunny. No breaks. I'm tired just watching it.

All the eras are good, but my favourite is 1989. Shake it off............. damn.

Ok......... take it back. Just listening to the acoustic part of the concert. Acoustic upright piano, then jumps into an opening in the stage what looks like a river........... swims over (not really) and comes up in a wall of water to Midnights era.

Dancing on high heels the whole time. Costume change, mic change, everything is seamless. Tech crew only messed up once and it was a timing issue. Split second late with the CO2 jet machines. Maybe it was on purpose. In any case, lots of prep and planning went into this production. I think fans are definitely getting their money's worth.

Concert ends with Karma. So appropriate. Gotta love that wood block (clave) sound. Is it acoustic or digitized? Anyway...............

MG1 03-15-2024 10:13 PM

Damn, Disney+ has "Taylor Swift Folklore - the long pond studio sessions" 1 hour and 46 minute concert.

"An intimate musical concert featuring Taylor Swift performing every song from Folklore." Looks like it all takes place in a recording studio - can it still be called a concert? Too tired. Will watch later...................

Hey old man, you sure you’re just not watching this blonde bitch sing and dance in tight little outfits while you’re stroking your dragonballz ?

MG1 03-16-2024 07:47 AM

Her music is really good. She's very talented and down to earth. C'mon, she grew up on a tree farm.

It's a success story she put together on her own. And, as far as I know, she's not a crackhead or into drugs. Good role model for young girls. I hope fame and fortune doesn't change her all too much.

Something positive in a sea of hate and hopelessness............ I believe that's her overall message.

As for me being old and enjoying her music and success............ btw, I don't find her attractive at all. Sorry to disappoint, badboy. god bless

I watched a few minutes of it this morning with my daughter and noticed that the concert movie is 3.5 hours long. Damn, she works her ass off to give her fans a great time. She's in the Bruce Springsteen and Prince category of performer for sure.

Even if I didn't like her music (I like it), if I didn't find her attractive (She's a 9) or I didn't like her Liberal politics (I like it) I would still admire her for the work ethic.

Errr... her dad is/was the vice president of the entirety of Merrill Lynch and bought the farm she grew up on, he also spent tonnes of money getting her training and a record deal, even moved the whole family to Nashville etc.

She did not by any means do any of this herself...

MG1 03-16-2024 11:52 PM

I'm relieved. I'm not a Swiftie.................. did not know any of that.

No one makes it on there own. You don't think Connor Bedard had a ton of help from his parents. They spent an easy 6 figures on him.

No one? So every black athlete that made it to the NBA, NFL or MLB had parents who were rich?

Comparing sports to music or film doesn't make sense. One is objective and one is subjective.
You can make money at something objective by being good at it.
You can make money at something subjective by being marketed correctly.

Tons of money is being spent on poor kids to become pro athletes.

The US has a very strong high school sports system. here is a list of the top 25 high school basketball teams. From the looks of it they all seem to be private schools/academy's. I can guarantee you most of the top players are on scholarship.

IMG academy in Miami is ranked #17.

Quote:

IMG Academy president discusses school's future after $1.25B sale
IMG Academy, known for producing elite athletes, is now under new ownership. While announced this spring, the school's sale was made official earlier this month.

The company IMG changed it's name to Endevor. Endevor owns the UFC and WWE also reps a bunch of pro athletes. Kobe went to IMG for high school.

Here is a high school basketball league paying some kids 6 figures
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/04/09/over...asketball.html

Some goes for other sports like football. Here is a public high school in Texas that cost 200 mill to build and has a 72 million dollar stadium. My understanding is local tax dollars pay for it. So the richer areas get the better schools because they pay more in taxes. How much you want to get some poor black kids family is not going to end up moving into the neighbourhood. There instate rival has a 60 million dollar stadium.

I am willing to bet there are some kids who could have played on a 3rd or 4th line in the NHL but did not because there parents did not have the money.

Manic! 03-17-2024 04:19 PM

They are also ranking elementary school kids now.

This video is hilarious

You get the scholarship because you're good, you don't get good because of the scholarship. At the end of the day in pro sports you have to perform. Daddy can throw all the money he wants for private trainers and whatnot, but if you're not good enough that's a wrap.

This is Nani aka Anjali World aka Anjali Ranadive. Her dad is a billionaire who owns the Sacramento Kings NBA team. Her dad spent big bucks on her music carrier that went nowhere. She did tracks with artists like French Montana and Tyga. One of the songs I like she butchered with a remake.

Here she is performing at a Kings game.

She was also made GM of the team in 2023. She quit after a year and now runs a wold dog sanctuary.

You can't get as big as Taylor without talent.

MarkyMark 03-17-2024 06:42 PM

My point is there are many cases of people making it without 6 figure help from their parents. Money will always give you a leg up in anything but it guarantees nothing. Being a pop star is a different animal entirely, Britney Spears didn't possess any true talents. She didn't write her own music, make up her own choreography, shit she usually sang over her recorded songs at her fucking concerts and she was still huge in her day.

Absolutely, but money doesn't make a medium hockey player good.
Money spent on marketing can make a medium artist popular.
