How much was the delivery fee?
Something tells me it was cheaper to have this delivered from Austria(?) than my NAFTA built car.

This was my last weekend. The new tyres did well on the Coquihalla, though two nice rocks spat up at me by monster trucks chipped my windshield which then required replacing.

Also saw this on the way. Plate is 'No Tofu' so I can guess who's car it isn't. :)

I did get them to knock down the documentation fee though, they jacked it like $400 since I first ordered it so I said they should honour what it was when I ordered mine... and also I pointed out that 3 other Toyota dealerships in the lower mainland all had $595 fees so why is their fee nearly a grand?!

It's hard to say what the worth is to anyone, I only wanted a manual... but I have no qualms about admitting the automatic is both faster and probably a better choice for a lot of people. I just get so bored driving automatic and I feel like it brings the car to life in a way that the auto version I drove before doesn't.

Congrats! I waited a bit this time because I wasn't sure if you were trolling. You should've used a facelifted Model 3 - the pre-facelift photo you shared gave it away for me :lol

I like the new Supra, and that blue is my favorite color choice. Never driven one but the B58 is a wonderful engine - it's a perfect pairing IMO. Not sure what it is with Japanese enthusiast cars attracting unwanted attention - for me it was the most annoying part of owning something Japanese and performance-oriented.

Also, I have BimmerCode and an OBD adapter if you want to make some configuration changes down the road.

Yah when my MR2 was modified, I got it a lot too for a period of time... now people leave it alone because it's graduated into collector status. I think the ECU on these is super locked up post 2021... have to send it out to like Finland or something to get it swapped for a 2020 unit lol.... JB4 even discontinued providing their units for manual Supras as well I heard, some extraneous issues with them as well. Seems like in some ways the manuals are a bit of a red-headed stepchild mods wise, most tuners focus on the bigger market of the autos.

Not sure if notice it, but as you're driving the Supra I'm sure you get a lot of looks. I do in the Type R, I stopped noticing it. I lent my car to my friend as a courtesy car while his was in the shop for a week and that was the first thing he mentioned. He can feel and see everyone looking at the car/him as he's driving LOL.

There's something special about driving a car that looks like a sports car. My favorite moment was in Duncan with TouringTeg and a few others. We were at lunch and a little boy was like "Mom! Look! Racecars!!".

68style 03-07-2024 03:15 PM

Haha yah I was pulling out of my parkade the first day and a little kid from school with his mom was like "MOM LOOK A SUPRA! A SUPRA!!" and his Mom was like "It's nice honey let's go" hahaha... and younger guy working the counter at a fast food place jumped on me when I walked in the door asking about it too.

Richmond RCMP seem to like looking at it too, lots of stares and following head turns from cops :heckno:

Probably wondering a) why there's a white guy in Richmond and b) how he afforded that car... stolen?

Nice 68, I haven’t seen a blue on one the road yet but that looks like one of the better colors for sure

Your car is also bright red, there's not that many bright red cars around.

I gave my 2007 TSX to my in-laws (they sold their 2006) but I still drive it twice a year to do their winter tire swaps and it's still a really nice car to drive. Still looks nice, motor revs freely (VTEC still kicks in yo), the auto box is mostly always in the right gear, and it's plenty practical. Other than eating two alternators it's been a total rock as well. A perfect first car for someone. The manual version is bliss for a DD.

When I think "drives likes a real Honda" the 1G TSX and 3G TL both fall under that description.

fliptuner 03-11-2024 10:43 AM

Thanks. Yeah, they're pretty solid. Not much to them, outside of regular maintenance and the owners are generally on top of that.

I specifically part 06-08's and occasionally will do a rebuild, of it was just a fender bender.

Oh Flip. You got my style. I’m rocking A/Ts on my Rav and wanted a roof rack. But then I ran out of money. lol!

Since I sold the STi a few months ago, I’ve been daily driving the focus RS. Wasn’t so bad for a while but i feel like an asshole starting so many times in the morning for preschool etc. I got rid of the STi because a friend wanted it but also both of my cars were awd turbo manual that took 94 and sucked fuel down like a hoe.

Anyways looked at a lot of cars the last few months with no luck. Finally found my ‘guilty pleasure’ car that I’ve wanted for probably 15 years but never picked one up. ‘04 Echo RS 4 door. Previous owner has had it for 18 years, 99% highway commute. The price was appropriate versus the others on the market. Only thing is that it’s an automatic, but for a daily commuter car I’m totally fine with that.

Super solid car. Drives smooth, the auto trans is actually fantastic. Shifts smooth and quick, and kicks down quite sensitively in a good way. The echo cruises really well on the highway, I even had to download a little speedo app because when I was going 90, it only felt like 60 and I assumed the speedo was horrendously off (it wasn’t. GPS speed 96kmh at indicated 100kmh)

Already put her to work, could fit 8 wheels/tires in it to take to the tire shop. Only immediate things I need to do is upgrade the speakers as they’re the original Toyota cardboard ones and throw some $100 Amazon carplay double din at it.

Congratulations! Very happy to see a survivor in this condition since most on the market are fairly beat up. I was particularly drawn to these as a kid for some reason and have a soft spot for them.

Badhobz 03-11-2024 12:39 PM

didnt they make this Echo in a RS form that had a great little bodykit and a rear wing?

Great pickup I've always wanted one of those because of Gran Turismo 2. I thought the Vitz/Echo Hatch was a tidy looking little package. The JDM folks got a turbo version but we always had the big engine 1.5.

That looks like the RS, the Yaris has a bodykit but I don't think the Echo did. The Echo has an optional center exit sports exhaust that's almost always crooked cause I'm guessing ppl keep backing it into the parking curbs.

red kryptonite 03-11-2024 08:28 PM

damn that looks minty

320icar 03-11-2024 08:41 PM

RS was wheels, sport seats, wing and side skirts. Same bumpers

jpark 03-11-2024 08:58 PM

gran turismo 3 vibes <3

tofu1413 03-11-2024 09:20 PM

damn... echo RS.

still remember a few around town that had the centre twin exhausts smack in the middle.

that was pretty hot stuff..... still is actually.

Btw let me know if anyone finds some nice 15x7’s or 15x8’s lol. Wouldn’t mind a little wheel refinishing project.

I actually really like the stockers on the Echo RS, but I'm guessing they are something ridiculous like 15x5.5
