I think I literally angered everyone at the Toyota dealership before my Supra arrived... ANY person who contacted me about my vehicle either by email or phone I told them "Don't you dare drill a front plate holder into the front bumper" and when I showed up to get the car, they had tags attached to both sets of keys with a note not to drill the front bumpr and someone even stuck tape on the front bumper with that written in sharpie lolol

JDMDreams 03-20-2024 11:35 AM

Cars ruined, man they really want you to put in that front plate if they designed that whole bump

Badhobz 03-20-2024 12:37 PM

I ran for about 6 years on the maserati with no front plates till in 2016 or something when some RCMP bitch gave me a warning. Then afterwards the tickets started to roll in.

bcuzracecarz 03-20-2024 01:03 PM

I’m gambling right now with no plate but luckily the mount isn’t drilled so if I need to put it on it’s not the end of the world

Hail

As in,

Hail Mary nigga, run quick see!

But I've gotten enough windshield hits on HWY 1 in the Fraser Valley, HWY 91 East / West Connector & HWY 17, basically anywhere, to relegate the comparison moot.

bcuzracecarz 03-21-2024 05:55 AM

I just remember how much I hated living in Edmonton and all the brown, and dirt, and brown, and gravel…….and brown

Badhobz 03-21-2024 06:34 AM

What ?! You don’t like brown people ?!? That’s wacist !!!!

bcuzracecarz 03-21-2024 09:20 AM

JDMDreams 03-21-2024 09:24 AM

It's insane that people are so incompetent that you have to repeat yourself every single instance to get what you want, how you want it. I've been seeing this across the people I deal with vendors/couriers/etc at work too.

On my new bumper, I'm not planning on running a front plate or I'll magnet mod it.

I should have a no-drill front plate mount for the FK8 you can have - PM me if you're interested.

Every time I run into that kind of situation, I just remind myself that if they were more competent, they wouldn't be in that job.

Gotta cut them some slack. I think they are doing the best they can!

I generally agree. But on the flip side the manager at BMW told me it'd be cooler if I ran with no front plate, and that he'd make sure they don't touch the front bumper.

:toot:

I've had the tow hook mount on all my Lambos, it looks ridiculous but it's better than drilling holes into the bumper.

Probably shouldn't continue the topic here, but it's not front-line staff that I'm talking about. Upper and middle management are guilty of this too. I understand minor mistakes but when someone has confirmed that they would do x, I would think that x would actually get done.

In the case of plate mounts, I would assume that the first person 68 talked to would put a note on file or the sales person would make it a priority that this doesn't get missed. Unfortunately, this isn't the case and it becomes an "oops" because not everyone checks notes on file or some kind of miscommunication.

68style 03-21-2024 03:04 PM

Yah I had ZERO confidence from all my experience in the car world that it would be remembered, so I made myself annoying af to make sure it got remembered.

I didn't enjoy being a Ken like that but gotta do what you gotta do lol

RabidRat 03-21-2024 07:31 PM

Just saying, when I did the actual purchase on my R1T, the entire process was online. And on one page, there was a checkbox "do you want Rivian to install the front license plate mount, or will you install it yourself?" And they followed through: no drilling, just left the parts in the frunk.

Every car purchase should be like this. Not some crazy game of error-prone telephone.

JDMDreams 03-21-2024 09:46 PM

What about putting that apple wood sticker on your trunk + plate frame, or do you prefer sucky bath motor stickers:joy:

68style 03-22-2024 07:08 AM

That was something I asked about too, I told them not to put a Destination sticker on it and at that particular request they acted like I was the crazy one... they said of course we don't do that anymore... just license plate frames.
