Is a 06 Z4M with 115K for $22K a good deal? Can't tell but that S54
See this is WAY WAY WAY more car than a S2K or Miata or FRS... dont get me wrong, all those 3 will be WAY WAY WAY more reliable, and offer a more eager/dynamic experience in/near legal speeds... but goddamn that seems like a good deal seeing where everything else is at.
I have no idea if this is a good deal, but if this is my 4th car that I can have it parked if something does break, and tinker to have it addressed in... 2 years... this will be the one~

For you BMW and Z4 gurus, when / which model years did the Z4 come with a hard top?
2009-2016
I’m lowkey waiting for a friend to let go of her low-mileage 6MT. She bought it new and isn’t ready to part with it yet, but it’s been fully dealer-serviced and meticulously maintained.

Are there specific trims that offer the hard top in those model years? Or was it just standard.
I know this is ironic, but ever since getting the hard top for the Boxster, I appreciate them so much more. It's a pain in the ass to take off when I want to drop the top down, but from a convenience perspective, it's so much cooler inside and the noise reduction is awesome. Cars like the Z4 and the SC430 are awesome for this.
I'm getting old.

That generation came with the folding hardtop standard - the only one in its lineage.
The funny thing is my friend's had the top up for so long now that she's afraid of dropping the top in fear of rubber seals breaking. I'm sure the seals are fine (the car is parked in an underground apartment complex), but it's not my car and the potential repair bill scares her.
No but you'd still have S54 specific issues to deal with ie rod bearings and VANOS
Am partial to a M Coupe myself but not for 2x the price although a drop top means you can throw on a CSL intake and listen to that glorious induction all the better
I recognize these pics, this z4m been fs since I was looking at z3m.

Is Cayman and boxster pretty much the same thing but top doesn't go down? It seems like there's a premium on Caymans? Or are there just more boxsters for sale. Same beetle issues?
he changed new flywheel + clutch and decided to sell same month?
Did he screw up his break-in or something?

Yes, the weird thing was, or not weird was, Boxster used to be cheaper than Cayman brand new from Porsche, so this type of hierarchy just kinda stuck in everyone's heads for this generation.
Of course the Cayman is the more rigid of the two, but performance numbers/testing showed almost 0 difference unless you are chasing lap times
Now the new ones are other way around, Cayman is the entry sports car, and boxter is more expensive loool
Same beetle issues of IMS and bore scoring, but now more labor since almost everything is an engine out service, even less room in the MR configuration....
