I learned my lesson and didn't bother waking up for Monaco. |
After digesting it some more, Hamilton needs a new race engineer. Adami isn't doing it for him, after watching the last few races it almost feels like he's there to sabotage his race. |
I wanted Tsunoda to do well in the RB, but it looks like he is choking worse than Perez :( |
Monaco was a write off. He did ok to recover into points from a 20th place finish in Imola. I wouldn't write him off so quickly. If anything I feel like Lawson is doing poorer. |
I am entertained.... to be honest... I will also be mad af.... Max probably would have secured 3rd and the team screwed him.....I am NOT saying he is right ofc... he is a "professional"... and should conduct himself so... but man.... the old MAX is back... I thought he was getting soft.... |
For anyone that watched the full race, how come on the last stint Red Bull bolted a set of hards? Couldn't they use a set of mediums? I heard they had no more softs. |

He should have been black flagged for what he did to George - it's ridiculous that last week George gets a drive through for cutting a corner while all Max gets is a 10 second time penalty for using his car as a weapon. His sportsmanship taints his legacy the same way Senna's and Schumacher's do. Fangio, Clark, Hamilton never drove like they did. |
I avoided this thread until I just finished watching the race just now. Hamilton disappoints me again, especially as a Hammy fan. I can't believe he got taken by a Sauber at the end. If there was another lap or two Hadjar would have taken him too. With Max. I don't know what to say. I think I expected him, as Max Verstappen, to know there's only HARDs left in the pits and refused to pit. He was clearly taken back by the choice to put on HARDs, then shaken by LeClerc on the front straight, then bumped by Russell T1. He was still arguing with the team when the hit happened and I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt that he was just distracted as it was quite heated between him and the pitwall. I'm not a fan of MV33, but I would like think he did not deliberately hit another car. Driving dirty is one thing, deliberately driving into another that's you aren't racing is another. |
I watched these supposed dramatic hits from many angles, talk about soccer players vs hockey players, barely the slightest of bumps… these guys need to check their vaginas for sand. Hamilton is cooked, I knew Ferrari was making a mistake signing him… at least from a driving perspective. He’s been wonderful for their promotions and brand but that’s short lived when the results aren’t there. |

He's since come out on issued an "apology" (for him at least) basically admitting he did it on purpose. |
That was such a boring race until that safety car lol. |
I know ppl are saying it was deliberate, but his wheel was turned at the beginning of the sequence, then it was turned a similar amount after the hit. Knowing Max, it likely WAS racing shenanigans, but not of trying to hit Russell. He was trying to make Russell's life harder so he was have a poor exit and Max would have a better speed differential. But Russell didn't expect Max to do that and was trying to take a late apex for the corner, and then the hit. Since Max really shouldn't have been there, that was on him. This reeks of the straight line let the spot back shenanigans between Max and Hamilton back in 2021. Max knows it's his fault, and the media and world has made up his mind so also very much Max, he's not going to bother explaining it. He's always been like that with the media. |
Given how much better Charles is performing over Lewis, think it’s pretty safe to say his time as a top tier driver is coming to a close. |

He's also a modern era GOAT in the sport..... |

And they need to find him a new engineer. Adami isn't working out. And also Ferrari being Ferrari. The swap orders need to be way more decisive, and that's just one very visible aspect of the pitwall that we see. I'm sure there's plenty of indecisiveness that' plagues their race time strategy. |
I was curious about his pace drop-off during the 2nd stint of the race and apparently his front wing settings were changed during the pitstop which cause more issues. |

Is he as fast as Max, Charles or George in qualifying pace anymore? I doubt it but he's not falling off like Alonso has whose car and teammate are so shitty that no one has noticed how unremarkable he's been the last couple years. |
I disagree with Alonso falling off the cliff. I think he's still kicking ass but this year, the car is terrible and just unbelievable bad luck. Stroll isn't THAT terrible but I think he also suffers from the car not suiting his style and seemingly lack of interest. If anything I think Alonso has been more adaptable. At Barcelona Alonso provided lots of entertainment with his wild but safe passes. But he has also had a few more mistakes than usual this year. Overall I think the AMR team has failed more than the drivers have. What I've been surprised with is how unreliable the MB powerplant has been this year, despite being the same specification as previous. Kimi has had 2 retirements, Alonso has had one I think. Though Mclaren has been doing well |
Lewis can’t drive like Max when it comes to the under/oversteer. Max is a magician when it comes to getting the most out of a car that’s slipping around like the RB has been. So when you don’t have a car that’s completely dialed in like the McLarens are and just planted, it’s pretty hard to make up pace with an inferior car AMR, seems like they’ve basically thrown in the towel for this season and are focusing fully on the next generation. Will they bring back Stroll with the new cars? Honestly I’d probably rather keep Alonso of the 2 |
I don't see Papa Stroll dumping his son while on the precipice of a new regulation set and a Newey designed car. |

I think that Hamilton needs to have a serious talk with the Ferrari bosses about getting a new engineer for his F1 car. |
Adami seemed like a moron of a race engineer way back with Vettel. |
Funny enough, Vettel purposely brought Adami from TR over to Ferrari lol |

His race craft is still immense but the speed doesn't seem to be there anymore. Of course his car can hide a lot of this but I'm not sure he's any faster than guys like Gasly, Ocon or Albon - he's just smarter. OTOH, I figure Hamilton is still as quick as the 2nd tier guys like Sainz or Norris (I can't prove it though). |
Unfortunately there's just no way to objectively quantify it, except maybe running everyone on 2020 machinery in a race, which will never happen I can't tell if it's Ferrari letting him down, or he's slowed down a bit, or his competitive edge just isn't as strong. And it's not like he's doing poorly after 3 seasons with the team ala Checo. Ferrari's objectively got the 4th car this year behind McLaren, RB, and Mercedes. I hope he's challenging LeClerc every race, but it is ultimately LeClerc's team. I'm hopeful that next year will bring more as he has more say into the car's development. |
