I think it could the the track. The brembo's on the front are beefy, and it's light.
It might heat soak some, but that's not a big deal on small sessions.

It's definitely fun on the track. I took my R56 S to Buttonwillow and even kept up with a [poorly driven] Corvette! :D

You don't even care that it's so underpowered. It's so sharp, flat, and planted through the corners. You don't have to think about a damn thing, you just point where you want it, and it goes!

Guess the Civic Type R (on stock wheels and suspension) is the same thing.. but with POWAAA

I can’t wait to throw on some stickier tires, it’s on winters right now.
Just picked up a new set of hankook evo3 for $500.
Waiting on price and availability for some wheels I picked out. Options sucks, not much clear the brakes.
Researching coilovers, looking for a comfortable street setup. If u guys have any recommendations throw them at me.

bcrdukes 06-05-2025 11:28 AM

Comfortable coilovers = Ohlins Road and Track. They happen to make a kit for your chassis. :hotbaby:

BIC_BAWS 06-05-2025 12:40 PM

Buddy has KW V1s on his R56 JCW. Rides pretty decently for a daily driven track car.

What's wrong with your stock suspension? Too soft or too stiff?

Badhobz 06-05-2025 01:51 PM

You know what, I have the same problem with every new car I acquire.

I always wanna mod the shit out of it. Eventually, after a few months, that huge list shrinks to 1-2 items that i absolutely obsess over, and those are the ones you should probably do.

Like for the hilterbox, i wanted to do chip tune, mufflers, short throw kit, intake, and a blow off vagina. Plus full bodykit from aliexpress and some gold wheels to match ratrolla.

only ended up getting a wing, and short throw kit. It didnt need more power after a while.

It’s stiff but not M car stiff. It would look a lot better if it was lowered that’s all.

The first thing I do to every car I get is coilovers and wheels. Those are non negotiable haha. The only reason the x5 gets a pass on is because it’s a SUV.
The wheels I do once I need tires.
Since the mini NEEDS new wheels and tires, may as well do suspension too. But who knows. I may just skip it all if the prices are too crazy with the tariffs.

JDMDreams 06-05-2025 02:30 PM

Yea we can't even get cheap parts anymore, besides AliExpress and Japan auction.

I'm the opposite, I can find mods I want to do a lot faster than I can actually do them so the list just grows and grows. Sometimes I get lucky and a mod is on there long enough it goes out of style before I even get around to doing it so at least I get to save on the uninstall time lol.

I'm done with modding cars

Have you seen the list of cars you have in your signature? How many cars do you have now? 4? :suspicious::moderatorban::ilied:

Even Ali is getting a little pricey. I just ordered a set of chrome deletes (2 headlight rings, 2 taillights rings, 1 grill surrounds) for $100.

I wish I didn’t watch F&F back in high school, would have saved myself a whole lot of money.

There must be something wrong with me. I have zero urge to do a full catalogue of mods.

68style 06-06-2025 05:21 AM

You too busy son, Hobz got many timeslots to fill between meals

trollface 06-06-2025 05:45 AM

I have never gotten a item off Ali that wasn't made of literal trash.

Dinan should be ok. I didn't know they still existed!

Pssshhh my 60 dollar ottinger color matched wing would like a word with you. And literally all my interior bits that address the problems of the mk8 like no door grab pockets. Aliexpress is an angel from China you dumb kid!

Is that the same shade of nardo grey as the Kicks? Is your gf getting a kick out of the fact that now you have matching cars? :D

Is Dinan coils? I thought they were just springs/sleeves.

Do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again, go KW/Ohlins. Or if available, ST

red now needs to wrap his X5 in Nardo Gray to complete his fleet's aesthetic. Or buy one an Individual unit with the same color:

It’s the exact shade! She loves it, thinks I’m copying her.
It’s bad enough we have matching bikes but now we have matching cars too!

Their full coils. They’re on sale right now, literally more than half the price of the ohlins and kw.
What’s wrong with the dinan? The reviews all seem to be ok for a street car.

The only color I would do that is black haha but it will drive me insane trying to keep them clean.
