SUV drives through Lapu Lapu Day Festival - Multiple Casualties Just heard from friends that a man drove through bystanders at a street festival in Vancouver. Multiple dead, many injured. Apparently man is in custody. I can't find any news about it. https://vancouversun.com/news/police...y-in-vancouver Quote:
There's a bunch of video on twitter if you search Vancouver. |

Apparently at least 15 casualties from what I heard. My condolences if you know any of the victims. |
Seen the videos fuckin awful at least 10 visibly dead / disfigured in them. Wish I could unsee. |
Fucking awful. A friend of mine has family that was there when it happened. |
Interesting timing as the Toronto Van attack was 23 April 2018 |
More likely a coincidence since it aligns with the beginning of large outdoor events but maybe some sort of correlation with the person kind of copycatting. Code orange at the hospitals now. This is very bad. |
Holy shit, my phone was blowing up. RIP. The kid looks Philippino. How much do you have to hit to completely smash a q7 |

My GF and I talked about going here but it didn't work out. Who expects this? The global Filipino community will come together. They are the most empathetic people I know. |
Insane |
I don’t get it, flips are the nicest, friendliest, most family oriented asians in the world. It’s unthinkable that anyone would hold a grudge against them. This guy needs to die. Right fucking now. No trial, no jury, execution right now. |
I heard the street wasn’t blocked off by police or closed off. I thought they usually block the streets off with police cars for these kind of events. |
Witnesses called into CBC and said the vehicle was let in. It was driving slowly initially but it sideswiped a pedestrian and then it went full throttle into the crowd. Looks like the kid had a senior moment, panicked and hit the wrong pedal? They said they were letting cars in all day to pack/unpack their booths. |
Square profile picture Vancouver Police @VancouverPD · 6m #VPDNews: Vancouver Police investigates mass casualty incident at neighbourhood block party A suspect has been arrested by Vancouver Police after several people were killed and multiple others injured at a neighbourhood street party in South Vancouver earlier tonight. At approximately 8:14 p.m. on April 26, a man drove into a large crowd of people attending the Lapu Lapu Day Festival near East 43rd Avenue and Fraser Street. A 30-year-old suspect, a Vancouver man, was arrested at the scene. The investigation is ongoing and is being led the Vancouver Police Department’s Major Crime Section. |
I remember since the Toronto Van attack, all the public street activities in Vancouver such as fireworks had huge dump trucks parked on the street to act as barriers. Didn't they have any at the event tonight? |
With the Sun Run tomorrow, perhaps resources were stretched thin? |

Also, the festival already had threats against the black performers. Was this a far-right, anti-woke Filipino guy? Before you get mad at me read the link: https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2025/0...-black-racism/ |
Fking horrific and so close to home. RIP to all the victims. According to the VPD, the suspect was known to them. They didn’t give details but did say it wasn’t a terrorist attack. I bet this guy will claim to be mentally ill, get bail, and roam the streets again. |
