Ovie was in shock after hearing that his teammate Carlson for 17 years was traded to Anaheim for draft picks. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/article/ovech...with-capitals/
“It’s a sad day. Probably the toughest day in my career...We (grew) up together,” Ovechkin said, adding he was left “in shock” by the news.
The 40-year-old winger’s future also remains in question as he plays out the last of a five-year, $47.5 million contract this season.
“I don’t know,” Ovechkin said of how the Carlson trade affects his future. “I’m still here so we’ll see. We’ll see what’s going to happen. It’s a hard one.”

Canucks claimed the league's tallest player from Tampa off waivers.
Curtis Douglas is 6 foot 9, and weighs 242 pounds as a forward.
-not really a replacement for Myers haha: https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canu...s-deadline-day
Douglas is a 26-year-old forward who stands at 6-foot-9, 242 pounds. Only one other forward in the NHL this season stands at 6-foot-9, which is New York Rangers pugilist Matt Rempe. He has no goals and two assists in 29 NHL games this season. But of course, the Canucks didn’t acquire him for his scoring prowess.
Not only that, but Douglas has more fights this season than the entire Canucks roster. In 2025-26, the Canucks have had seven fighting majors. Here’s who’s dropped the mitts for Vancouver this season, according to HockeyFights.
Marcus Pettersson: 2
Evander Kane: 2
Conor Garland: 2
Victor Mancini: 1

Blueger I don't mind keeping. Kane, wtf. I would have retained $4M if it meant we could move him.

but that just tells you how there was no market for him. 100% we would have retained, as he's in the final year and we have tons of cap space.

Honestly, I think it's time for management to be let go of. Kane truly was and is one of the worst decisions they ever made. Not only that, they did the Oilers a huge favour and for what? Boggles my mind how we could possibly trust this group to turn things around after perhaps the most stunning and accelerated falls from (temporary) grace. For me, it goes back to trading Bo and keeping Miller despite the fact they knew there was a rift between him and Petey.
I think I'm quite certain in saying I have no confidence in management anymore.

The owner is also responsible for the demise of this franchise.
Aquilini made the decision to talk to Rutherford and hire him.
I don't have confidence in the owner, Allvin, or Rutherford haha. Can we please get more fans who buy tickets to watch this awful team during home games to chant "Sell the team! Sell the team!"???

Kadri is going back to Colorado. The Flames traded Kadri to the Avs. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...-to-avalanche/

2nd go at the Cup for Kadri with the Avs.
Oilers didn't get a goalie ... they will sink with Jarry, another year taken off the 'window'. And I think they're stuck with him for like 2 more yrs after this. What they hell was Bowman thinking? Had they kept Skinner, this is final year of his contract and they could have started with a clean slate in goal for 2026-7.
