reason i want to rake leaves is to be prepared for winter. i don't wnat to shovel snow and then die all of a sudden.. so fall leaves is a good prep.

I swear climate change has driven the trees crazy. It has been this way for at least a few years now, but I basically start raking leaves at home in mid August, and it continues all the way through until late Nov.

And I am not talking about just a few leaves here and there getting raked up. It's green bins' loads of leaves getting scooped up pretty much every week starting in Sept.

The only good thing about it is -- they aren't coming down crazy all in one go over a matter of days. But I do find it crazy that it lasts over 3 months in a given year...

maybe it's time for a battery power shovel. i don't think i can really justify having one with my relatively small driveway but always thought they were cool.

Just rake all the leaves onto the street. Your property tax pays for the sweepers.

it's been a few years since I used one but it wasn't great.

it was a snow joe electric shovel, like this:https://www.amazon.ca/Snow-Joe-323E-..._df_B008F4OXLK

It's heavy AF. Needs a good amount of effort to push it PLUS the snow, especially if snow is heavy and wet.

The cord is annoying.

Your driveway/sidewalk needs to be smooth. Any ruts, grooves, or rough surface like aggregate, and it's pointless because you can't push it easily.

Directionally, it blows the snow in front of you, which limits where you can pile the snow vs the direction you need to go.

Also loud AF.

1 star out of 5.

I have the cordless version. Just to add...

This thing is useless unless the snow is fresh powder. If people have walked on your sidewalk and it's compacted a bit, it won't work. If the bottom layer is slushy or icy, it won't work.

Because it's blows forward, there's a limit to where you can use it unless you're a POS. Following down the sidewalk? Shoots into the neighbors sidewalk. Going down the driveway? Shoots onto the road. Use it horizontally? Shoots into neighbors' windows/cars/driveway.

I have an 18V Ryobi snow shovel and it's total trash for anything but light snow on a sidewalk. For the typical Vancouver big dump of 6-8 inches in a day it's totally useless. I'm faster with my Yardworks snow shovel (https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/y...rq=snow+shovel) than I am with the Ryobi.

If you don't believe me though I'll sell it to you and you can find out for yourself.

I’m always worried those snow blower will chip or damage the driveway. Seems shovelling is the safe course of action.

Ballers dig up their driveway and add radiant heat to it. If I lived in the 416/905 area, for sure, I'd do that at the expense of eating less burgers. Or, just live in a damn box in the sky, condo, and let the mgmt take care of that.

Yeah I’ve seen those radiant heat driveways, but the problem is what about the sidewalks. You still gotta shovel.

Since you guys are rich and the "snow" turns into ice, I feel it's more important you guys spring for heated driveways. For the 416/905, there is no return on the investment.

Only about $200 for a corded electric snow blower - that's almost as cheap as a battery snow shovel and probably WAY better. I could easily blow snow into my asshole neighbour's yard or at least joyfully gloat in front of them when I clear my driveway in minutes while he takes an hour or more.

For $200 I probably wouldn't give a shit if it dies in 3 years and I'd just leave it outside.

The trick is to return it to Costco

If I recall, Mikoyan had a neat snow blower but I don't recall if it was corded or battery-powered.

+1 on skipping those electric snow shovels. I tried one and it vomited snow everywhere instead of neatly clearing it. A sturdy manual shovel with a curved scoop does a much cleaner job.

Snow blowers are a hit or miss as well - the 18V ones are practically useless for our kind of snow outside of fresh powder, and the more powerful battery ones become a bit too expensive to be a trivial purchase. I suppose you can get around these shortcomings with a corded blower, but then you're tethered to a wall plug.

I’ve taken my leaf blower out last year and just blew the fresh powder. Works about the same and ultimately crap

Battery. I got the entry-level ego 56v cordless snowblower and leaf blower. 1.5 car length driveway + parking pad and minimal walkways. COV never put in sidewalks on my side of the street so no sidewalk shoveling for me lol.

If you can get out there while the snows's fresh, you can use a leaf blower too. I use the leaf blower mainly on the cars. Works pretty well.

I do clear a couple neighbors walkways while I'm out there too.

Not sure if this is a Black Friday thing but that’s when I noticed it. Roger’s will give you an interest free “loan” if you buy a phone and put it on their credit card. You can choose 2,3, or 4 years to pay it off.

Rogers MC has offered this for a while now but you need to go into a store to set this up. The reps there might not be familiar with the process and/or want you to get the phone on a plan instead. On top of this, I think Rogers marks up their phones over MSRP - or at least that's what I found with iPhones.

If you're planning on getting an iPhone through financing, the 24-month 0% financing through the Apple store is likely a much simpler process.

I did pay $100 more than the Apple Store , but it was was the only way to keep my $30 Fido plan.

I'm thinking of replacing my phone (Nokia 6300).

Are there any major differences between a regular iPhone 15 and a regular iPhone 16?

There's no major difference between the iPhone 15 and 16, but I would get the 16 if the price is close. The biggest benefit I see going for the 16 is the additional ram and spatial recording feature (3D video).

I also have an unused orange Nokia E7 to sell you - it'd still be a nice upgrade over the 6300 and you'll fit right in with the orange iPhone crowd
