it's the first season, they had to make it really long so people don't change channels so i guess the advertisers didn't get a chance to cut in every 10 mins. but regardless, it kicked off to a good start, the comics are so so so good too. with 79 eposides (based from the comic), it'll be on a good run for 8 years?

For the black family, they seem to be hardened by the whole outbreak. They've been surviving and surviving well for quite sometime, so I think that can justify why they're so calm and unalarmed. Plus, they were supposedly able to experience first-hand the death and "zombification" of the wife/mother. If that doesn't harden a human being, I don't know what else will.

As for the protagonist, he's a cop. Most cops are supposed to be brave in general, I suppose. But I would also say that the main reason he's keeping his cool most of the time is his love and determination towards finding his wife and son. Anybody put in his situation would do pretty much anything no matter what to save his family (though I would realistically be shitting bricks on every zombie I encounter).


Either that, or just accept all of it with the suspension of disbelief. After all, it is just fictional, scripted television right? :p

there were a couple others can't recall their names its the movie industries attempt at catching the market for those who would rather stay@home (its actually a method that movie industries are considering more.) What they're also pushing now is on-demand theatrical rentals 30days after they've hit theatres; google it.

^ I've actually heard of all this before, but flawless isn't exactly an industry shifting event. Yes there are films released on PPV and DVD before they get their theatrical premiere, but there's a reason you're not able to remember their names, they're films with no promise of much return, and will rely on dvd sales overtime, so the studio goes ahead and skips the theatrical step(and if that works out, they re-release in theatre). Comparing your idea of paying $10 for one episode of a TV show to the $1.99/episode model that already exists is ludicrous, the pricing doesn't make sense.

What I've heard is, a $20 - for a month subscription to a theatrical movie channel(like a week after release), which makes sense as most of the film's earnings will occur in that first week, but again, these will not be A+ films.

As for releasing the film before or at the same time, it's a stupid idea, DVD/blu ray sales are not impressive and nothing to lead with. Netflix offers tv/film for $8 a month, HD and commercial free, that price is incredibly competitive. And when we talk about television, we're talking advertising, direct sales are gonna be icing on the cake, the real money is in giving advertisers that grade A program, like Walking Dead, and giving them the opportunity to advertise during first run airings.

tivo doesnt show you shows ahead of time, early, and even with tivo/dvrs/pvrs/reruns/watching on network websites/pirating there is still a market for it (hence why they rent them out @ 1.99$)

I think you're wrong, they aren't gonna follow the comic to the tee, and that disappoints me as much as it does you. But I don't think they're going to water down anything maybe the rape (which, I know this sounds fucked up, I really hope they don't remove, cause it was one probably the most hate I've felt for a fictional character in any film/book). But anyways, evidence: they axed a corpse and walked around in it's entrails, and if I'm not correct said nigger 3-4 times. This writers are taking the source material seriously I'm sure.

God knows they aren't going to top anything Robert Kirkman wrote in the comic book series, but they can at least not fuck it up. :(

personally i just explained it to myself that being a Hospital it was probably the last stronghold of the defense (hence all the bodies they've bagged and piled up) so the main character was probably being cared for long after the Zombies surfaced

I don't know about that, because at the beginning he found that upper torso of the zombie in the field next to the bike.

When he went back to kill it, it seemed much slower and almost dying, probably because it hadn't eaten (because it can't chase anyone)

Just so people know, once again, the content of this episode is not in the comic book. This all seems a bit...uh...dragged out but the emotion is great...and the acting is top notch so far.

I'm more excited about season 2. I think they're just going to build hype this season...season 2 is when the shit hits the fan.

Oh, and if you looked and listen closely, they're up near the top of a mountain with a quarry to their back. That's a pretty decent defensive position as you only have watch in one direction.

Awesome new series.. I just downloaded the action novel (comic) and noticed a few differences, but the show still follows the general story.

I never said it isn't good but it's still filler.

If something followed the source material exactly, it would probably be much, much better than some pandering garbage directed toward the mainstream. For example, the Hitman movie is NOTHING like the Hitman video games and as a result, the movie was terrible.

The Walking Dead looks like it WILL follow source material but not right now. It's still very good but what's going on right now is something else entirely from the actual story.

If you read the article, it says that of the six episodes, none were written by the writing staff in the first place. Two were by non-staff writers, two by Darabont, one by Robert Kirkman (creator of the comic) and one by some other guy so looks like the writing staff was redundant.

They might also be moving toward using more of the source material in S2 so there's less need for a writing staff.

It really isn't about the zombies. The zombies are just a backdrop. The comic is about what people are capable of after the zombie apocalypse.

I usually look at the previews in the issues. Some of those comics look pretty interesting. There's one called 27 about a guitarist who's 27 years old. As you know, lots of musicians die in some way or another when they're 27.

Season 1 sucked because they're trying to build up the characters so the viewers can relate to them. The problem with that is the fact that I barely know or care about any of them.

I'm starting to get annoyed with Rick (especially the part where they apparently jogged all the way back to camp in tact when they needed the van to get into the city)

Shane is annoying as hell (stupid dumb emo that can't keep his pants on)

Asian kid is just used as some pawn to run around the city

Yeah they're still making them. It's at #83 right now, #84 should come by next week.

URL is rather self explanitory. Very cool reveal of the CG effects which, apart from the exploding building, are damn near seamless. To be honest, I thought the legless zombie was animatronic! I remember thinking to myself "Wow, I didn't think anyone did animatronics anymore..."
