I don't know if there are any Targaryens who don't have silver blonde hair, even if they're not inbred. If it's Jon Snow, he'd be the first AFAIK.

Firstly I do believe Jon Snow is the son of Ned's sister, but the whole hair color thing got me thinking. Based off the Stark family as an example, the eldest child of each sex will don the hair color of the mother. Catelyn Stark has red hair, and so does Robb and Sansa; if you look at Bran and Arya, they have brown hair. So regarding Jon Snow being a Targaryen and not having blonde hair is because Lyanna is the mother and he is the first/only born child, thus he has brown hair. This is all my own speculation and I only have limited resources to the show because I don't read the books. Maybe someone that has more information from the books can chime in on this.

I don't think Stannis is dead. I'm hoping next season will show that Brienne swung and hit the tree and then grouped up with Pod. I was REALLY disappointed at what happened with Stannis and the whole battle. They've been building up this battle for so long and they didn't even show them fighting!

The Jaime and Myrcella scene was so hard to watch because it goes from him being so relieved and happy to seeing her daughter dying from the poison.

The night's watch portion at the end with Jon getting shanked was ok. He's too much of an integral part of the show that he won't be killed. Melisandre will probably cast some voodoo spell to resurrect him.

honestly, a lot of people were getting put off this show this season. . . until episode 8 happened!

The whole killing off main characters were cool when they first started doing it, but now it's just getting annoying. It takes a bit of boring episodes to build character development, don't want to go through that stuff again.

Now that Jon Snow's character is off, I might hold off on next season until people tell me if it's worth continuing to watch or not.

what book should I start reading

1st book.
Read that whole thing.
There is sooooo much the show only fan services, but when you read the book, it's like "OOOOHHHHH so THAT'S what is happening behind the scenes".
Things just "click".

I think the show is only about 1/4 of the content of the books.
It's the main plot points, condensed.

The show in its current format has some weaknesses.
1. 10 Ep season. Not enough time for stuff.

2. Budget. It can't go big. That's why there are so few fights, so few battles and so few dragons.

3. You can't get into the character's heads. Yeah, we know Ned Stark is pretty loyal. But just how loyal was he? How much was he loved? And how disrespected were the Boltons before the Red Wedding?
Things like this really help the overall story flow together much better.


Be warned.
There are some slow and more dry parts.
The strength of the show is that it trims the fat.
But I really like having more. The bigger picture is nice.
But it might not be for everybody.

Losing bit of patience with this show. I was no where as hyped going into this season as I was for previous ones. I found the conclusion to this season to be unsatisfactory. But like most ppl I'm fairly certain Jon snow ain't dead. GRRM is smarter than to pull this same stunt on us again...right?

That said no I won't stop watching this show but I really do hope it ramps things up a bit more and have more resolution to major plots.

Yup, most of the story lines have either passed the last book or strayed from the original timeline, save for a couple (namely Arya, who still seems to be staying relatively true to the novels thus far.) If that's representative of what Stark fighters wear in battle, I wonder why they just rely on leather and chainmail? They don't seem like the types to use agility and speed like the Dornish seem to exhude (or maybe that was just Oberyn).

On that topic, the show does a really good job at making full-armoured knights very nimble. I can't remember what show it was, but there were 2 dudes dressed to the brim with medieval armour and longswords, and it was painful to watch them go at it lol.

Yet another example of Cersei not thinking ahead of potential consequences of her actions.

It's got to at this point no? Why even spend time on the TOJ flashback and introducing Lyanna as something other than RB's infatuation back from S1. I suppose most show-only viewers are kept in the dark regarding the theory, but for those of us aware of it the show's direction seems to be advertising it like a big neon sign.

That said, I'm mostly dying to know how Howland and Ned came back alive/seeing Dawn in action, and what the actual "promise" was.

He mentioned how they all thought they were poor and worth nothing, but formed together they became powerful.

Faith Militant appeals to all the commoners in King's Landing. IRC, religion is a pretty big thing there, so by going back on your word or killing them off, you'd end up turning the entire city against you. Yeah, you have guards, but it'll be like the Sons of Harpys all over again.
