Been getting away from the meat and potatoes of this thread...........

Safeway, until Wednesday, have 1L Sun Rype Blue Label Apple Juice for 69¢ each. No limit.

That's an awesome price for not-from-concentrate, apple juice. Local BC apple juice. Pure and unsweetened.

If they are out of stock, just get a rain check. They're pretty good that way. The apple juice normally have a shelf life of 6 months (gotta love tetra pak).

I got Superstore to price match the flyer. Superstore has it for 0.68 but limit of 2. They said they could give me no limit at the more expensive price

I do that with 2Litre pop. No Frills has it for 97¢ and so does Superstore, but Superstore has a limit of 2. Always..........

I show cashier the No Frills ad and they give me price with no limit. Poor cashier has to scan each item one at a time then adjust price.

I loaded it up with all the free extras. Extra pickles, sliced onions, grilled onions, and lettuce. I ordered two, but didn't apply the extras to the second one. My son looks at the receipt and chuckles.......... also, the receipt shows $11.53 when I know I only paid $5.25 for the two burgers.

I got emailed receipt showing $5.25.

Anyway, night and day difference with the lettuce and the grilled onions. The pickles, not so much. Won't be doing that next time.

Mcdonalds BOGO glitch

There is a glitch with the BOGO coupons where you buy a sandwich and get a 2nd one free.
Can only do this on the Kiosk

For breakfast - Currently you can choose any mcmuffin or bagel and there is an option for Egg BLT Mcmuffin meal (egg blt mcmuffin, hasbrown and drink)

For lunch - Currently you can choose any sandwich and there is an option for spicy nugget meal (6 pc nugget, fries and drink) as an option

I was actually just gonna write that but closed my browser haha, it's probably the worst pizza I've ever had. Dry and flavourless. My brother brought home 6 slices, by the next day it was 5.8 slices still in the box. Usually a decent pizza left out in the open in our household would have disappeared within the hour.

Yea same thing happened to me, walking home one night we were bringing a few people back to our house and the only thing open around was FS, got a couple pizzas and by the time I got home was hammered and hungry and I still didn’t feel like eating it. Sometimes you’ve gotta have those food epiphanies to know to never eat there again lol..like Safeway Chinese food lol

Tried that today and I believe the glitch has been fixed, Richmond Ironwood location

I know of another glitch, works specifically for BOGO coupon breakfast

If you order a Egg McMuffin NO MEAT, you can pick the most expensive sandwich such as a breakfast bagel and the coupon will cancel it out, total cost is about 3 ish dollars

EDIT: for mobile order only

My dad has a different British made one of those ovens tried it last summer takes frickin forever to get to the proper heat but when it does holy you better have an assembly line you’re pumping pizzas out every 60 seconds. Things burn so fast if you’re not super quick turning them.

My problem with it is that it’s only good for large gatherings you’d never go through the trouble for yourself.

murd0c
03-01-2022, 10:07 PM
I have a Ooni Karu and it’s an awesome pizza oven. I got the propane kit for it as well so I can run dual fuel. For $400 that’s a great price since the pizza peel goes for $90 alone. Mine takes about 20mins to get up to 800deg.

Hondaracer

Made a lot of cast iron pizzas through Covid, the dough is always the hardest part.

I found that if you get a dough recipe that has a longer rise time, ie. 8+ hours or longer, once you are able to get that nice gluten window it’s wayyy easier to stretch and form

murd0c
03-07-2022, 08:06 AM
no question making your dough with a longer rise time is a better option, I did the same thing buy pizza dough from the local bakery and knew it would be easier if I made my own like I normally do.

First time we used the one my dad bought, he let the temperature go way too high like out of control and we didn't know about the fact it will cook in seconds... put a traditional pizza like murd0c's in with the basil leaves on and they just instantly vaporized, I was like "ahhhhh" frantically trying to get it out and laughing at the same time lol... literal depths of hell stuff

So, I couldn't wait for Dollar Drink Days to start............ went to Circle K at Production and purchased their 99¢ fountain drink. I was charged more than just the taxes. I was like WTF? Dude says it's a cup charge. I was like okay, so if I bring back the cup next time, I won't be charged again for the cup? In a thick accent he says, yes. Well fast forward a few days, I remembered to take the cup with me. I fill it up and go to pay for it. Dude, looks like the same guy.......... says, no charge. We only charge for the cup. Not arguing.

Also, food prices have gone up 10 to 30% due to gas pries and everything else. If you're planning on BBQing this weekend, Safeway has Prime Rib steaks and roast for $8.99/lb. Not the best cut, but for $8.99/lb, who cares? Superstore usually match prices. Costco has Grimms Bavarian Smokies on sale as well as potato salad. Anyway, this thread needs a bump once in a while..............

Addendum: Corn on the cob for 50¢ each (10 for $5.00) at Thrifty Foods. Price match at Superstore or No Frills. I can't believe Walmart doesn't price match anymore. Oh, Save-On-Foods price matches. Trader Joe's Carolina Gold sauce on cobs in BBQ, ftmfw!

I only buy the Red Potato Salad when they go on sale at Costco. I can't finish it by myself, but having family over for a BBQ, no problemo. Any leftover, I offer it to them. Just like the Azuma Seaweed Salad....... can't justify it unless it's on sale, gulolol, which they were not that long ago.

.

Was on my way to pick up some corn at Thrifty Foods in Port Moody. 10 for $5.00. I called them and was told they didn't get any in. I went to No Frills where they had some really nice ones. I picked out ten of the best and went to pay for them. I tell the girl, it's a price match. She sees the ad and pulls out a calculator. I ask her why? She goes, I need to find out how much they are each....................... WOW!!!!

I told her they would be 50¢ each. She goes, "You're right."

As for the steaks, I went to the Safeway in Burquitlam. None left. Only the roast. I was like when will you cut some more........ we won't get any until Sunday. I was going to get the roast and cut it into steaks. I thought better and just went to Superstore. Asked the lady at the meat department and she goes, "No can do." I phone the Safeway at Kensington Square and girl who answered the phone goes, "We have plenty. We'll be cutting them all day long." Burquitlam is a huge store. What the hell?

Can't wait for BBQ. Only time the whole family comes over for dinner. Now to get some large mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions........... Weather going to be good. When's the last time the weather cooperated on a long weekend?

Oh, got a side of wild sockeye I have to prep. Miso marinate or maybe maple/teriyaki.

FYI

Dollarama had these Meguiars Water Magnet towels for $4 each
They are usually $19 @ Canadian Tire.
Great towels, suck up a ton of water when drying.

Read good reviews about the Turtle Wax ones as well, will give them a try, they are massive. Also $4.

Found two Meguiar's Water Magnet at the Coquitlam location. They had a shitload of the Turtle Wax micro.

$4.00 is their regular price for the towels. Dollarama is very popular for a reason. Wonder Bread is cheaper than Superstore at $2.25. Starbucks double espresso and fraps are cheaper than most places. Just to name a couple of examples.

I just ordered an Apple 4K TV Second Gen from Shoppers via on-line. I have over 1K worth of points. I have a 4K smart TV with all the major apps, except Apple TV, ffs. And, it won’t allow download of the Apple app. My other TV’s have it. There’s a lot of features I kind of like on it like Siri. Said no one - ever, lol. Anyway, zero stock in stores from here to Kelowna. I’ve never ordered anything from them online before. I’m having it delivered to my Flex Delivery address in………… the Shoppers in Kensington Square of all places.

Shoppers carries a nice selection of electronics. I’ve purchased many game titles from them using points events and seniors days. I mean 20% off during seniors days, plus $10.00 vouchers every now and then. Beats Pill, AirPods, etc. as well. Every time a new Nintendo or PS game is released, I get it for my kids. They get the discounted price and I get the bonuses. Win-win. And no, I’m not going to buy shit for other people. Go find your own Grandpa, Aunt, or Uncle, hee hee.

Did I mention I want to fuck Siri? It must be my voice or something. Drive me nuts. It’s like the Wynonna Earp scene, where she says, “Hey Siri, call Doc Holliday.” Siri: Sorry, there’s no Holliday Inn nearby.”

I end up swearing at her at the top of my lungs in frustration. It’s hands free, so I can’t smack her up the side of here head. Siri: I won’t respond to that. I swear she’s out to get me.

McCrispy for $3.99 via app. That's about it.

Dollar Drink Days promo is on the way out. So sad.

I still use the survey coupons. It was great when they had the $4.99 pricing. The deal is medium fries and a medium drink for free, but I've been getting the large drink thrown in.

Just last week, I got the whole meal for free. Manager couldn't figure out the voucher, so I got all of it promo'd out. WIN! This was at the McDonald's Walmart at Lougheed Mall.

Anyway, thank god London Drugs still matches prices. Save-On-Foods, Superstore/No Frills, as well as, Home Depot. If I knew of their sudden policy change, I wouldn't have bothered going to Canadian Tire. Best Buy is pretty useless. Nobody answers the phones.

My son lives across the street from a Starbucks. He gets his morning cup o' Joe from McD's. Starbucks is a little too expensive for him, I guess. Anyway, I got an e-mail from Starbucks about this refillable cup that comes with free grandé size coffee every day in January. Perfect gift for him. Most places are out of stock, but I snagged me one at the Kensington Square location. Win!

Just checked prices of coffee at Starbucks. It isn't that expensive. Maybe he just plain doesn't like it. Damn............

EDIT: EDIT: EDIT: It's actually a pretty shitty deal. I went to pay for it this morning. When I called, they told me only two left. I told them to hold it for me. WTF? I was thinking 29 bucks, maybe 39 bucks. It's freaking $79.99!!!!!!

If you go every day, it might be worth it. I guess you can go multiple times every day in January. Frick, might as well give my son an $80.00 gift card. BTW, a grandé size coffee is $2.10. Nice dark green tumbler, though.

Enjoying a 50¢ meat pie. Safeway had these meat pies on sale for $1 each. Made in Canada. Three flavours. Chicken, Turkey, and Beef. The offer included with the meat pies was 50 Scene points. Essentially 50 cents each. I was skeptical about them, but they are really good. Maybe because they're so cheap, lol. Only drawback is they cannot be microwaved. Oven only. So, today, I threw some frozen battered cod fish, Kirkland Chicken Bakes, and the meat pies onto a cookie sheet and cooked them in the natural gas convection oven. Everything turned out well. I wrapped the Chicken Bakes in foil. Anyway, cooking for myself, so this makes for easy dinner. BTW, sale ended on Wednesday. I was looking for them at my local Safeway, but they didn't have any, so I went to the location on Kingsway near Joyce. They didn't have any, so I got a rain check including the scene point offer. I got the ones I cooked from my local Safeway a day later when they restocked (within sale dates). These pies aren't as good or as big as the Marie Callendar's Chicken Pot Pie, but at 50 cents, who cares? The plus for the Marie Calendar's is they are microwaveable. The rain check doesn't have a limit. Damn. Safeway's been getting more competitive with their prices as of late.

I've let RS frugal shoppers down. Did not report some awesomee deals. Been too busy, plus nobody seems to be posting much.

Saturday, Superstore on Grandview had breakfast sausage on sale for basically 88¢/lb. They were short dated. Two days left. They had a shitload. Someone must have made an error. too much stock or they found the product in the back of the cooler. $1.00 a package and the weight on each package was 500+ grams. I bought ten and froze them when I got home. Safeway had pork belly for $2.88/lb. Cryovac/frozen. Lots of decent prices because of CNY. People complain about high food prices, but keep your eyes out for deals and it pays off. Of course, if you ain't got no freezer, you're out of luck. Anyway............... this thread was dying a slow death..............

Last weekend I found BOGO frozen chicken at Ladner Save on Foods - it worked out to be $15.50 ish for 2 which I thought was a decent deal. Seasoned the chicken and it came out perfect by air frying it inside my Ninja Speed - better than Costco rotisserie chicken imo.

I also picked up some Cavendish breakfast hash browns for 88 cents by combining the No Frills sale at $2.88 and a $2 coupon I found on RedFlagDeals.

I also went to the location in New West (Columbia Street - my daughter lives in that area). There were a few fruit trays (Blueberries, Blackberries, and Raspberries) still left.

Those pot pies. Two of the locations only had the hot kind. Madison had cold ones that were shrink wrapped. The pound of ground beef for $1.49 I was sure they would run out. There were lots left at all three locations. Regular ground beef, so not something people would fight over.

BTW, I leave for Bellingham early to avoid traffic and long lines at the border. With the Nexus card, there's no need to get to the border early. If $1.49 Day is going to be a weekly thing, I'll just go at 7:00 am. I have a feeling it is going to be more than just today. They had so much advertising, t-shirts, and banners to be just a one day thing. The $1.49 jingle.............. damn.

Several items got cancelled off of my order, also at Semiahmoo. Did MG1 get my raspberries??

I got my berries at Madison location. I use them on my Edaleen Dairy ice cream doused (bukkake) with Bailey's. I grow the neighbourhood's most delicious (according to my Italian neighbours) blackberries and raspberries. Come to think of it, was there a limit on the berries? Maybe not. That's probably why they went so fast.

Limit of 6. Well, I give cookies to workers at the cemetery, municipal workers, technicians at the dealership, etc. I'm known as the Cookie Monster, gulolol. Anyway, I also saw After Eight's for $2.00 each. What the hell? I don't like them, but other people do. I get three of those. After paying for the stuff, I see that I received 10,000 points for the Turtles. That's $10.00 worth of points. Damn!!

Felco, ARS (best brand out there, if you can get it), Spear and Jackson, etc. Fiskars used to be a good brand, but since they started making their shit in asia, quality has gone downhill. If it is made in Europe, then it's good quality. Chinesium does not have a place in the garden. I guess I can get the broken stuff replaced, but like mechanics tools, the last thing you need is shit to break while you're counting on the tool to actually work.

Try to cut any bigger branches and then put a gouge in one side of the blade so now they don’t close.. could grind it out or somthing but dunno how a slightly bigger branch than it’s intended for bends and bites into the metal enough to make them unusable..

I was pleasantly surprised at their quality when I tried them a few years ago. They used to be $6.50 and on sale for $3.50 / $4 during covid, but those days are long gone now. Which flavor did you get?

Whoops missed that part of your replay a few posts up lol. All of their Signature flavors are worth a try - not sure what flavors you're into but all the ones I tried were pretty decent.

Shoppers Drug Mart is having their Super Weekend Sale.

100 Nestle Halloween Chocolates for $10.99. Anything close to 10¢ each is a good deal. Also, if you are an Optimum member, spend $75.00 or more and receive 20000 points. That's $20.00 back in points. This is on top of regular points.

They had all kinds of other pretty good deals. Everything from headphones and TV's to a Nespresso machine.

None of this is worth it if you're not an Optimum Card holder.
