I got 30+ runs yesterday, didn’t even stay the whole day. 40 sec laps ish. The hired instructors do all the chores - there is no work detail. It’s half pad, so the runs are short. The whole course is coned - no worries about getting lost or course maps etc.

Again, I think this is the ideal event for first timers - no egos, no competition, run any car (basically no tech) and have fun. It’s a bit more money (160ish) but that pays for 4 instructors that will help out all day and run the course, and a catered lunch is included

It would also be perfect for test and tuning a suspension setup etc. You can pull out of grid anytime to mess with a setup

loose - there was a mustang out there yesterday that I'm sure was louder. I've never seen anybody get checked. But it's in writing for a reason I guess.

That's the limit for all pad events I think.

Buy a helmet condom LOL. UBCSCC is significantly cheaper tho, $50 for non-ubc students (not sure about alumni), $22.50 for current ubc students.

UBC auto-x events give you 20 runs tho, a lot more course work, and not catered lunch.

For comparison in Victoria we normally get 8 runs (approx 40-60 seconds each). It runs $35 for member or $50 for non member. Annual membership fee is $35. Racers each work a corner.

Pulled the E34 540i off the road to either fix or sell, as it needs coilovers or custom strut mounts as they keep punching through. So done with this car. I want to replace it with a Acura TSX or a Manual Swapped GS300. Something four doors + manual and much more reliable than an old BMW.

In the mean time, I picked up an 01' Odyssey off of a family friend for cheap. Has 80,000 km, and they were the original owners ! It's so boring and is probably the quietest ride I've experienced LOL. Might install a transmission cooler, as these are notorious for having transmission issues. This will be the summer road-trip mobile / comfortable daily / winter beater, but since it's summer the EM1 is also on the road.

I've looked at probably every M5 that's come into the market for the past 6 months. Each of them looked really nice on the outside, but once my mechanic jacked it up and started looking underneath it, 90% of them were a heap of shit with issues everywhere (including one guy who claimed to have "changed everything", but actually just painted the parts so they look new... or the guy who's "small oil leak" was like the Niagara falls):badpokerface::badpokerface:

i'm running OEM tire sizes, w 10mm spacers i had laying around to clear the coils up front

westos' car is pretty slammed - i think that's the biggest difference. I like this ride height for no fear street driving, and the PSS9's are co compliant that i'm hesitant to mess with the setup.

Did my second autox on Sunday. Last time I was running WRG3 front (235/35/19 on 8.5) and PSS rear (265/30/19 on 9.5). This time I'm 245/35/19 square (ish, aside from wheel width) with the Indy 500s.

I'm pretty pissed off with the times I got. The first time I did auto-x, I shaved off about 5 seconds from first good run to last good run. This time was only a 2 second variance.

Saw lowside there, his 128 sounds insane!

320icar, I can't say much about the Indy 500s yet. Especially because the set up is totally different and I'm being limited by the lack of suspension. The turn in is a lot grippier, definitely, much gripper than my old PSS, but not very hoonable. Tho by, run 7 or 8 of 9 runs, it got pretty greasy at launch. So I don't think it's a good tire at the extreme ends of temps - too cold or too hot. I feel like there's not enough feedback with the tires, you don't really feel anything until you slip - squeel.

For the price, I'm pretty happy. I convinced my friend to get it, and I think he's pretty happy too, he placed 32/91 indexed, and was top of class (HS I think). I'll keep you guys posted.

I have a set sitting in storage. I wouldn’t use them as a dedicated track set of suspension, not enough adhustment. Also height is changed by spring preload, not a threaded insert in the shock body. Buy for daily use and s few events a year they’re great

We have same wheel sizes, tire sizes etc, but I think the goodyear F1s run wider than the PSS. The tread also seems a bit deeper.

I run 12mm and 5mm spacers and I'm maybe 1/2 inch lower. I think the sweet spot is directly in between us for ride height. I'm a bit low and it gets the asshole puckering often.

That's awesome man. It's really slim pick locally, most of them rusted away. I flew to Edmonton last summer to look at one that was supposed to be pretty nice, came home disappointed.

Same brake issue as the FoST?

Not quite. The foST/fiST have a tonne of brake controlled torque vectoring” which the foRS doesn’t do since it’s awd. But this track day I had Michelin PSS on instead of the no-name Chinese all seasons. Corner speed was much higher and all the extra energy just moved into the brakes. The session before I went off the brakes were pouring smoke. Should have just called it then :p

Minimizing maintenance hell is the main reason why I decided to buy new than buy used. I’m planning on keeping the car too so I got the extended warranty for it too.

Wheels are the ones that come with the competition package. They look exactly like the M4 GTS wheels except the M4 GTS wheels have orange coloured accents in them.

From the B.C. Motor Vehicle act (bold by me):

Wheel alignment

The caster, camber or toe-in of a vehicle shall not be out of adjustment to the extent that it is apparent visually.

Vehicles shall not be misaligned to the extent that the variation of the track exceeds 75 mm and the variation of axle centre exceeds 50 mm.

Motorcycles — The swing arm bushing of a motorcycle shall not be worn beyond the manufacturer's specification which would affect the safe operation of the vehicle.

The longitudinal wheel alignment of a 2-wheel motorcycle shall be such that the rear wheel centreline must pass within 12.5 mm of the front wheel centreline when measured at a point directly below the front axle.


Your ticket should list the section that your infraction is based on, which you can easily google.

219(1), which does not really provide any clarification, hence why I asked for some clarification on whether there are any specific values as I couldn't find any myself. I also forgot to mention that the cop said camber must be within +/-0.5 degrees of 0??? I don't believe that is true either.

He was perpendicular to me at a 4-way stop, and pulled me over while I passed through it. My mere -2 camber is definitely unapparent in that sense, thus he must have pulled me over because I was lowered. I cannot seem to find any information regarding ride height either.

Thanks! But not nearly as cool as most of you Honda OGs man!

The seat in the S is a Recaro Pole Position. I think it's best for the S because the bolster at the thigh/knee area curves downwards which helps getting in and out of the car. Shoulder area is narrow enough that the glove box between seats don't touch the door when being opened.

My friend has the other matching seat and we've been trying to convince each other to sell for about two years now lol

They call it Rallye Red now. Theres 4 red CTR locally right now. Three of them are still sitting at the dealerships as they have been bought by the sales manahers to be sold as a “used vehicle” over MSRP without getting in trouble.

The S2000 was just too cramped for me. I wanted something with more space that still was fun to drive and had that sports car feeling to it. I’ll miss the top down feeling but short of that, I don’t think it will leave a lasting memory like my ITR did.

The shifter in the CTR is very tight and feels precise with each gear not very far away. However the S2000 still has the better shifter imo. Its so direct that it almost feels like a short shifter from the factory and you never have to wonder if you fully engaged the next/previous gear properly.

I don’t think its fair to compare the ITR to the CTR given its age gap difference. The ITR was and still is one of the best cars I’ve driven but after you reach a certain age, you want more out of a car than just that raw racecar feeling. I think thats where the CTR comes in perfectly. I can switch it to R mode when I want to push it around some turns more aggressively and leave it in comfort mode to run all my errands. Sure you can easily do all the same things in a ITR that you can in a CTR but the ITR just feels like it wants you to drive it on a track instead taking it to costco or superstore. If I had the space and money, I’d absolutely love to have both but if I had to choose just one at this point in my life it would be the CTR.

Oh right I remember you had your NSX painted at Pagani. I met Tony a few times in hk lol. Don't know his brother though.

I rode in my friend's X with the links compared to my mom's X without the links and it's not too harsh. The shocks are valved pretty well to slam it.

I drove my S2000 on Monday after not driving it for about 2 weeks. I almost got rear ended merging onto the highway thinking that I had enough power in 6th gear to accelerate. The FK8 would do it without a sweat. S2000 you really got to rev the piss out of it. The FK8 just has that much low end I guess, changed my standards. I don't even remember how my K20A DC5 felt like anymore.

The ITR and S2000 can definitely be used like any other car on the street, theres no question about it. I just felt like the ITR could only really shine on the track. On the street the stiffer ride and lack of sound deadening just really got to me. My perspective might be different had I left that car stock.

Yes I miss the R33 for sure but I still own it and if stay in Van for more than a couple of years I will bring it over here. The FRS felt underpowered even compared to my ITR DC5. I never felt the ITR was 'slow' compared to the R33 as they feel so quick of the line etc.

After owning the FRS for over a month now it doesn't feel slow anymore as I know when to downshift now. I think the power-band is just a little weird in the FRS compared to the consistent progression you get with an ITR. But in terms of overall experience I absolutely love the FRS the chassis is more confidence inspiring than the ITR and front engine, rear drive is just more fun even with less power :).

Yeah the urge to force induce an FRS is understandable but I don't think I will do it to mine. The car is a lot of fun as is and I don't feel like the increase is worth the power made is worth how much it costs. I would rather save up for a Spec R S15 and keep the FRS NA as a reliable daily so I think keeping yours stock is the move. What is your other car?

My buddy nearby just got N1 turbo installed in his RB26. A couple weeks after it blew the head gasket and a few other things. No R33 for this summer as he rebuilds the engine. That car is insane to drive especially when boost is happening. You feel like you’ve been put in a parallel universe where everything to your side is blurred. LOL

We drove both and the Alltrack had much better handling. A few interior differences, paddle shifters I think, and the overall look we felt was better. I dig the plastic cladding too. The wife is happy and that's what counts.

Quick last photo before I sold it (concrete accessories woot). The sleeper project never came into fruition due to lack of time and, therefore, commitment. Also, rust was starting to form on a fender after last winter. Car was still good enough out of the box. The upside is I saved this car from premature detonation which gives me good feels. Thanks to Drivehard Performance for their time and help.

I would say that most people convert to wheel studs because it's annoying AF swapping wheels with bolts... especially if you have spacers or a strong desire to maintain the paint on your callipers etc.
