I have a sienna as a family car. It's nice but having more smaller vans as options would be nice (I didn't like the mazda 5 as much).

The JDM vans that are worth driving: Alphard, Vellfire, Estima, Elgrand.

Middle class 2.0L JDM vans: Stepwgn, Serena, Noah...these are only okay to drive around town, picking up kids at school etc. They are generally slow and noisy. Like Dodge Caravan vs Chrysler Pacifica.

Lots of good units out there now, even China $250 ones with the newest android, wireless OBD, tire pressure monitor, and fantastic screen + great specs for ram, processor and memory. The new Avin also looks promising, but costs much more.

to be honest with you - when i was shopping for my NSX i was sticking strictly to 91-92 NA1 in either white, red, or black mainly for manual rack, potential ability of changing gearing (95 they changed it a bit so its more of a pain in the ass to change up the gearing)

i was never too fond of the NA2 front - i didnt like it nor do i hate it but it doesnt look nearly as good when modified (while retaining stock body)

the white na1 w/ na2 conversion popped up for sale for a good deal and i decided to give it a try and jump on it - seeing how i could always do na1 conversion down the road since its cheaper than na2 conversion

after driving it and tracking it - i knew immediately that i wouldn't want to put too much more money into this car as i wanted shorter gearing (for track) and a coupe

i've looked into bracing the targa but after talking to other targa owners who have owned a coupe + targa w/ bracing - it just isnt better

thus i decided to sell my white na1/2-r after my friend told me this na1 coupe in red was for sale

this na1 already has everything i wanted - shorter jdm type-r gearing + fd, coupe - and bonuses like C32 rather than C30, ITB + other suspension related goodies

i've enjoyed driving my na1/2 for the short time i had it but after test driving this red na1 - i cant go back to it

Thanks for the feedback. I knew the stiffer coupe would be a deciding factor since you'll track it and I forgot all about the manual rack on first few model years. I've never driven a non-P/S version but can I assume that the steering is still fairly light considering the weight bias? Hit and run, from my forensic skill it looks like someone’s tire marks from cranking the wheel too close to me. Hopefully didn’t damage the paint. Makes me just wanna wrap the whole car

That'll buff out. I've removed tire marks from paint before, tho with a clay bar and wet wipes. Probably the wrong procedure, but top that up with a compound + polish + wax with a DA, and you'll be set.

That said, I don't know if you can polish plastidip. Maybe peel it, and respray?

Is that pleasure use only or something? I've only ever insured vehicles as DD's, and I know they lump all Celicas into one group and value them at $500 but I've always paid much more than that.

A buddy of mine told me if you insure in the region of Mitchell island in Richmond , the price is like a few hundred dollars cheaper. Exactly how is still questionable as he doesn't have a local address so he uses his work employment address which is on Mitchell island.

I've seen those kind of red-on-white dealer/demonstrator plates before. Aren't you allowed to drive an LHD vehicle in HK (at least, temporarily) if it has one of those plates? Something to do with cars that are for sale/export outside of HK. The only other way I think you can drive an LHD car in HK is if it's registered in PRC, and has those crossborder Guangdong/HK plate (http://ww4.sinaimg.cn/large/6ba7ecc9gw1f77ce7zaxuj20hs0dc0v8.jpg) combos.

Finally got out to get a pic. Car has been running for a week now, it was out of commission for 1 month and a week (felt like forever). New tailights look great, I'm still not completely sold on the trunk lights, but overall I'm pretty satisfied. I did end up getting new kidney grilles, so it doesn't look as ghetto anymore.

2018 plans: short shift kit / shifter refresh kit, Bilstein B14s + suspension refresh, new bumper + splitter (?)

I've seen those kind of red-on-white dealer/demonstrator plates before. Aren't you allowed to drive an LHD vehicle in HK (at least, temporarily) if it has one of those plates? Something to do with cars that are for sale/export outside of HK. The only other way I think you can drive an LHD car in HK is if it's registered in PRC, and has those crossborder Guangdong/HK plate (http://ww4.sinaimg.cn/large/6ba7ecc9gw1f77ce7zaxuj20hs0dc0v8.jpg) combos.

The car was deregistered, the middle person has to drive the car to his lot, so the temporary plate allows repair shop mechanics to drive it on the road.

One year for sure, but not yet. From friends I’ve known who’ve gone, they say it can be pretty rough on a car. The RS is pretty low from factory with shit undertray protection. So I will definitely compete* one day but probably not until the RS is a bit more used and abused.

I was about to say it's been pretty good the 2 years I've done it, but last year I had a low speed spin in my Jeep and ripped half of the front bumper off as it went into the snow bank. I've seen a few fairly low cars but I know I haven't got the cahones to risk something like an RS lol. We've done calculator in the past but we're doing paper class now so it's more for the fun of it than actual competition.

Thanks! Haha the wife says car parts/ new car things will have to slow right down since we got the truck. Good thing I have a bunch I still have yet to install. Haha have my eye on a s54 trans in van. As well. Hopefully I can get that the next time I’m back down.

Tons of room in the center console. Actually around the entire truck , there’s storage everywhere. Loving it so far!

It has all the same qualities I loved in my MKV GTI plus some added refinement. The standard Golf R brakes and the VAQ differential won me over. I wanted the Golf R as well but the extra 12k over 4 years was a bit much for now as I want to go travelling and whatnot.

I really like them. I thought they'd be crap as they're super wide, and quite luggy- (305 width DuraTracs)

They're great in deep snow and quite good on hardpack and ice. Not quite as good as KO2's, but much better in deep snow than the Falken AT3W's. About the same on ice.

I'm really enjoying the car. The only car I had to compare it to was a friends stage 2 mk6 GTI. I test drove a 2017 at a dealership before I bought this one. Its got plenty of power and I can take my daughter around in it. Back is a bit tight with the baby seat in and trunk space is a little smaller than my wife's Mazda 3 hatchback.

Champ White looks dirty next to Grand Prix White(I think that is what it's called). I parked next to another owner years ago at A&J right after he painted his ITR GP White and mine looked like dog shit beside it. Haha!

I took 176th southbound to get to my destination this morning. But to get back to Coquitlam at lunch hour after running an errand in Blaine, 176th northbound became impassable from a semi jackknifing up the hill after 16th Ave. I diverted to 188th to get back to 176 from 32 Ave which was perfectly fine until Cloverdale. I hit up 64 Ave and took 168th which was beautiful until the uphill before Fraser highway. People were just being plain stupid and getting stuck. I pulled a traction control off U turn and waiting my line back on 64th to 152 St which was clear all until the Port Mann where it became a full on gong show. Happy Chinese New Year to all of us there! What a daaawwwgg. [emoji15]

Very happy with my nokian hakkapeliittas again this year. Even pushing my car a little while driving solo I’ve felt safe.

Pulled the E-brake a couple times around corners at safe speeds with my daughters in the back seat today and they loved it. Not quite the same as standing in the backseat of my dad’s 72 Chevelle SS doing donuts when I was 6 but times have changed lol

Was out at 04:00 to bring a friend from Westwood Plateau to Abbotsford airport. The roads and highway were a complete mess at that time. Half way there we got the notification that the airport has cancelled all flights today. lol

I ran at 26 lbs of tire pressure to move around this morning. Once I got home I had to dump a few more lbs of pressure as the snow was starting to get thick and heavy.

My friend and I did have a great time at Coquitlam Centre being sideways the whole time at 05:30. What a fun time when everyone is still asleep. LOL
