I think the writing has been on the wall for a loooooooong time with him... at the all-star games when he was participating in things he made comments that sounded like he preferred to be around his family and Keith has meddled in both Brady's and his careers quite a bit... then you think back to when he got in a few scrums and his teammates hung him out to dry / probably tired of his antics like everyone else is and he had a hissy fit at his own bench, slammed the door on Gaudreau before storming to the dressing room... he didn't even show up for the playoffs after the first round this past season, just coasting around out there I think he had 1 assist the last 4 games against Edmonton.

I'd like to laugh at Calgary, but there's a serious problem for all Canadian teams stemming from this. The league is not balanced and is stacked against teams in Canada.

Yes, when I started a family with the wife eons ago, I was pretty excited. Then as the years went on, I was like, "What the hell did I just do?" Bringing children into this truly fucked up world. There's a difference between acquittal and something not happening. Do you think that would set a reasonable precedent for people who have been sexually assaulted to come forward if there was a risk of penalty if someone was found not guilty?

no it doesn't affect the cap differently at all. Normally they front load contracts so towards the end of the contract it's easer to move that player since they don't get paid as much since that amount has already been paid out even tho the cap hit is the same.

Signing bonus gets paid at the beginning of the year, base is salary paid throughout the year.

Once you pay him the SB in the summer for that year, he becomes more attractive for teams that don't want to spend because they only need to pay his salary. So you could have a player that has $8mil cap hit, which helps you reach the cap floor, but only have to pay him $4mil or something.

If there's a lockout, players won't be getting salary. So if they get a SB that year, they guaranteed some money. (although in JT's case, it actually favors the team cause he doesn't have a SB in that year)

Players want money up front. If you made $100k/yr and you had the power to get $50k of it up front at the start of every year, why not?

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Even in those final days in hospice care, when Duke Boeser couldn’t eat, couldn’t walk, couldn’t talk, could barely breathe and was in so much pain he took a swing at his son when he tried to help sit him up, Brock Boeser figured this would be the latest adversity his strong, courageous father would overcome.

After all, since Brock was 13, anything and everything was launched in his dad’s direction, and Duke always, always, always triumphed in the end.

In 2010, Duke was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. In 2012, his car was T-boned when another car ran a red light a half mile from his Burnsville, Minn., home. Duke’s seatbelt snapped, and he was thrown into the passenger-side door, suffering a traumatic brain injury, several broken bones and a lacerated spleen. In 2017, Duke was diagnosed with lung cancer, something he’d beat before cancer returned and he’d have to fight some more. In 2019, Duke had a pulmonary embolism that caused his heart to stop and turned him blue.

Yet, after 15 minutes of chest compressions, Duke was brought back to life. They’d lose Duke’s pulse again in the ICU, but once more he was revived. He ended up hospitalized for months, spending parts of it with a feeding tube directly into his stomach and a breathing tube directly into his windpipe.

“I remember when he got cancer for the second time, I was with him in the car,” Brock Boeser, 25, says as he sips his iced coffee and plays with a yellow band around his right wrist that reads “Never Stop Fighting” on one side and “Dukey Strong” on the other. “He cried and said, ‘Why does this keep happening to me?’ He could never catch a break. That’s something that’s hard not to think about. Why did he have to go through so much? No one knows, and that’s in God’s hands.”

Yet, after that second cancer diagnosis, after being deemed clinically dead after that blood clot traveled to his heart, Duke always lived on.

For three more seasons Duke got to watch his son score goals for the Vancouver Canucks, so Brock wondered why this time, as dementia and Parkinson’s overtook his dad’s mind and body, would be any different.

That was until Thursday, May 26, the day before his dad died at the age of 61.

Brock was alone in his parents’ bedroom with his dad. Duke was sleeping, his breathing strained.

Brock put on some music. Tim McGraw’s “My Old Friend” came out of the speakers. It was a song he always listened to with his dad while growing up.

Brock turned up the volume, then sat on the chair next to his dad’s bed.

“Yeah,” he continues, his voice shaking, “he knew it was time to go. You wanted to just stop time because I knew that he knew it was time to say goodbye.

“During the tough days and nights over the last few months, my dad squeezing my hand is something special I keep thinking about.”

The next morning, when Brock’s mom, Laurie, went into the bedroom to change the clothes of her husband of just shy of 28 years, she heard his final breath.

Brock woke up the morning of May 27 to his mom’s call that his father had passed away.

“I went over there right away,” Brock says. “I know a lot of people get this feeling when they see people go through so much pain and suffering and then they die and they look so at peace, but while I was sad, I had the weirdest feeling through my body.

“I looked at my dad, and he’s finally not in pain anymore.”

Four estranged adult children of Vancouver Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini have all alleged that he physically and psychologically abused them when they were young, a B.C. Supreme Court judge heard Tuesday.

The disturbing allegations came to light during a hearing over whether Aquilini is obliged to continue paying child support and covering university expenses for three of his children. They include claims he beat a sleeping child and threw a five-year-old across a bedroom.

Aquilini has denied the allegations of abuse, the court heard.

Tuesday's hearing concerned an application from his ex-wife, psychotherapist Tali'ah Aquilini, seeking an order saying the three youngest remain "children of the marriage," according to the settlement agreement.

That would compel Francesco Aquilini to continue supporting his children, even though his ex-wife has been redacting the names of the universities they attend and other personal information in receipts submitted for reimbursement. She says she has made those redactions at the request of the children.

Tali'ah Aquilini's lawyer Claire Hunter read out portions of a letter the eldest Aquilini sister allegedly sent her father in March 2020 on behalf of the three younger siblings, outlining why they want their personal details withheld.

"Your relationship with us is a direct consequence of your treatment toward us, whether you'd like to acknowledge it or not. We all hold many individual accounts of your abuse towards us," she wrote.

"I would like to formally state that myself and my siblings … wish to have no contact with you, nor would we like you to have access to any of our contact, medical information or other information regarding our lives."

Affidavits from children describe alleged abuse

The three younger children are now 20, 22 and 24, the court heard. One is attending a graduate program overseas. One is studying mechanical engineering, and the third is in medical school.

Hunter said each of the children has disclosed physical and psychological abuse to their mother, though many of the specifics weren't revealed until after the separation.

Each of the children has submitted an affidavit to the court outlining their allegations of abuse. As is common in family law, the court file has been sealed from public access, but Hunter read out excerpts for the court.


One child recalled an incident in which they say their father began beating them while they were sleeping and continued to beat them until they woke up. Another remembered being punched in the stomach by Francesco Aquilini.

In the most lengthy passage Hunter read for the court, one child described their father becoming angry with the children because they were being too loud in the family rec room.

"The respondent [Francesco Aquilini] then forced all of us upstairs into our individual rooms, went to each room to physically abuse each child. I saw the respondent throw another child — at that time five years old — across the room," the affidavit says.

"I locked myself in my bathroom. The respondent broke the lock and was throwing his body at the door to come in and beat me. I called the claimant [Tali'ah Aquilini] and asked her to hurry home, stating I was scared the respondent would kill me, and I was worried that he had already killed my younger siblings."

A staff let me choose the eight packs of cards from a box. I picked packs of cards in the middle of the box.

Ovechkin, McDavid, Draisaitl, Nathan MacKinnon, Sebastian Aho, Barzal, Pastrnak, Erik Karlsson, Kyle Connor, William Nylander, Subban, and Tyson Barrie. Other players cards include Darnell Nurse, Alex DeBrincat, Tim Stutzle, Phil Kessel, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Cam Talbot.
