Bellingham Residents take out anger over Canadian shoppers online

So we're helping their struggling economy by heading down to their crappy little town and spending money and this is the thanks we get? That been said, I'll play devils adovate and I can understand why some people are pissed, here's a prime example;

The Facebook page "Bellingham Costco needs a special time just for Americans" alleges we Canadians are rude and take up parking spaces.

The site is getting tonnes of responses. Some Canadians are so incensed they vow never to shop in the US again. Others point out that Canadian shopping props up the economy.

Ken Oplinger with the Whatcom Chamber of Commerce laughs at the reference that "them Canadians can be rude."

"I think everyone in the world thinks as Canadians as polite, so I'm not sure where that comes from," he says.

He's not putting too much stock in what's being said on the site. "The wonder of the Internet is that we can make all sorts of fun comments anonymously, but as soon as someone wants to identify them, they say 'I can't do that.'"

He has some good news for Costco fans.

"What Costco is doing is that they've already identified the need for an expansion," he explains.

"They're working very closely with the city of Bellingham and what I'm hearing right now is that it will most likely be at Bakerview and I-5, which would put it right off the freeway." He expects an announcement in the coming months.

Ken Mann, who sits on Whatcom County Council, is reassuring us that most Americans appreciate the business Canadians bring into their country.

"Whatcom County has 200,000 people. If 2,000 people on Facebook have given it a thumbs up, that's still only one per cent of the population," he says.

99% of Canadians who shop at Bellingham Costco are either Indian or filipino.

I have an impression many 'rude' Canadian customers are the older asian uncles and aunties of lower mainland.

These people have forgotten the days of the dollar not at par, where Bellingham was *dead*.

Finally found that milk video after seeing it a long time ago. My god. And I thought I was pissed enough over the milk being raided at Superstore.

they should play this video on the tvs in costco

but I guess only Canadians would end up seeing it so no point ;) they should have a big screen outside of the store then i guess :D

Someone mentioned here once why EIs buy so much milk. Is it a key ingredient in a lot of their recipes? I can't quite remember.

But yes it's all the brown people that buy like a whole shopping cart of milk, I saw a brown lady with her son each with a shopping cart full of milk

Dairy and fridge sales must be at an all time high.

i think for safety reasons we should all stop going to bellingham. some of my friends cars were vandalized there. cops there always target canadian plates for speeding.
