^wow. EPS beats estimates and stock still down 27%, brutal

highfive 10-24-2011 01:46 PM

^Bad guidance. They jacked up prices for their subscriptions. They're losing customers.

I forgot his names, that fund manager who shorted NFLX is making a lotttt of money right now.

4444 10-24-2011 02:29 PM

losing subscribers q over q is NOT good for a company with such a high PE... nasty stuff for them, way too risky of a stock for me to ever have owned... great idea, but so fraught (sp?) with risk (content, subscribers, etc)

what an astronomical downfall, RIM, NFLX - ouch! biggest losers of 2011? maybe

Jermyzy 10-24-2011 02:42 PM

^I got burned on RIM. I bought a couple years ago when it was ~$100/share right before it peaked, and didn't get out until $70. :okay: I promised myself not to buy any more tech stocks, but then I bought AAPL at $335 :fullofwin:

like i say. eps and rev aint everything

but in nflx case it was apparent

theres always a 'whisper number' that every company has to beat thats not mentioned in consesus
so for any company if u want to play earnings, u gotta do research outside what 'so called analysts' project

when in doubt. use charts for TA

What do you mean EPS and revs aint everything, in what context?

if you want to do an earnings play, its a crap shoot...

even beats can tank a stock
its more what the marketmakers want to pinpoint the stock price to be

another stock to watch if you want this play out is BIDU

i believe it reports this week (thurs?)
i've seen it beat and surge upwards
i've seen it beat marginally and surge upwards
i've seen it beat and get crushed

BIDU, RIMM, NFLX

hell look at the financials.. GS as of late.. you think earnings had price affect?:suspicious:

lime56 10-24-2011 06:42 PM

wait a minute....

i just read the first couple of lines....

so they offering something like CDS on this bailout itself?

isnt this what the crooks at GS and Paulson were betting on against on subprime mortgages and AIG?

:heckno:

shawnly1000 10-24-2011 06:43 PM

Pegging/price pinning affects stocks with weekly options much more than stocks with monthly options.

NFLX, their guidance was what tanked them IMO.

Wow, so... even with beating BBV, NFLX is doing like crap.

It's scary the movement around nflx... over 35% down and people are still selling.

And just to think it cracked the $300 mark back in July. Wow... just wow

Jermyzy 10-25-2011 06:45 AM

Not as big as limes56, but finally got one right in Goldcorp!

i'm still in awe when i look at that chart - what a drop!

unit 10-25-2011 08:17 AM

holy fuck.. what a plummet.

you could kind of see hints that it was going to drop but not jump off a cliff.
they constantly made their service a lesser value for their customers.

Which strike did you get? I know a guy that got a put at 105 as a lotto before the close yesterday, very jelly.
