First time playing with my camera after 8 months.. still have very little knowledge.

C&C Please =)

should have waited about 3-8 minutes for the sun to just pass the horizon that way, you can get a better image.

also straighten your horizon.

other than that I think the compisition is good. But I think the image needs to be a tad brighter.

I actually did, but the tide was coming up fast.. so I wasn't able to get the same perspective =(

I like it the way it is, personally. It's really hard to tell whether it needs straightening - it doesn't have a "horizon" as such, just the far shoreline and hills, which "slope" in different directions. I like the position of the sun and the high contrast between that and the piles in the foreground.

Actually, the only thing that bugs me about it is the noise in the dark areas (and making things brighter would just bring that out more). A little PS work to darken that and make them nearly-full-black silhouettes would do wonders.

lundyt i think your 1st pic its over saturated. on the top left the black just isn't black and the centre of the img is over exposed

but thats my 2 cents

The K20D resolves a lot of detail and the lenses are wonderfully sharp and produces excellent color and out of focus bokeh. The K20D even does AF micro adjust calibration to make the most of each lens. Built in image stabilizer allows me to take shots with lower ISO etc. I've also used it in pouring rain without cover because camera body is fully sealed as are many of the lenses.

At it's price point it cannot be beat as you can buy top dollar lenses for much less than of the cost of Nikon or Canon. Just my opinion, but I think its pretty accurate.

Where I have found limits of the system has been with Sports photography and birds in flight photos; Pentax AF is very accurate but it is slower than competing cameras such as a D300 or 40D. Its not a deal breaker as it just means I have to do more anticipation and manual / catch in focus at certain times.

Theres a new Pentax coming out on May 21st, I hope it will improve the AF then I will be really happy.

Nice to hear. I really enjoy my K10D and how easy it is to get to all of the features.

Playing with my P-DA50mm F1.4:

I like the shot, like everyone else I think I'd like it better if it was brighter, I don't think you need to adjust your horizon though, the closer rocks and bottom edge of the mountains looks level to me (but maybe I'm crazy). rotating to level off the top edge of the hills would throw the rest out of wack.

Be careful with the ring...one little wrong flick of the height lever, and it hits the floor.

Yeah I know. I read your post on the Catus triggers thread about the crappy mounting system for the AB flash ring, but figured I'd take my chances.

Armind 04-29-2009 06:01 PM

Thanks for the C&C guys. The nearest horizon you see is actually a bunch of logs being left there to soak up, not rocks. =P
