Damn you guys have awesome pics. Mine isnt as awesome or nearly as scenic, but I'm still learning how to use my camera and the crappy weather we've been having isnt helping me much.... so I just took a shot of my car

I'm pretty impressed with it :) I've never taken pics of this clarity in such low light before
I used a tripod, I'm pretty sure 6 second shutter time (exposure?) and iso was set to 200

Try setting ISO to 100,
Use High aperture, so more of background is focused. Or if you want the blur effect in the background turn aperture to a lower number 3-5
For background clarity, have shutter to around 20-30s depending on daylight
For blurred effect same thing but 10-20 should do it.

ya that :) you guys all know where this is. Taken on a D90

LiquidTurbo 06-05-2010 01:21 AM

^ Not bad, not great. There's not any foreground (or rather its too dark to see), and the sky isn't particularly interesting. WB a tad warm too.

I assume you tripoded this? Did you turn off VR?

its unedited, i have the raw file :)

I tried out a couple time settings, and yea it was tripoded with manual focus. was using a non VR lens.

I think this picture would work well in black and white. I quite like it for some reason!

I posted this sorta same shot a while ago, but retook it in Nov 09. St. Paul's Cathedral, 12 shot HDR. Taken with 5D MKII + 17-40L @ F8 on a tripod of course.

All with the EF-50 f/1.8. Love this lens, it's so clean.

I have one, and honestly, I've used it all of once outside of the time I got it. :lol

Wah?! what's wrong with it?....doesn't suit what you are shooting?

Just doesn't suit my shooting. It's a great lens, but I just never find enough use for it. The f1.8 isn't much beyond what I get out of my 17-50 f2.8, for what I do.
