nice composition but I think it looks overprocessed

Senna4ever 03-06-2011 08:34 PM

Yeah, way overprocessed - you can see a halo around the lighthouse too.

european 03-06-2011 08:44 PM

Yea I know... out of eight different edits. I liked this one the best but I guess I still failed :(

Went for a drive up to Queen Elizabeth Park.

How'd you take the car shot? You got an transmitter? Or did you do timer? Both shots awesome :D

european 03-06-2011 09:05 PM

Timer and shutter release cable I got for Christmas two years ago! Camera mounted on tripod. I tried it with suction cups, magic arms and super clamps but nothing worked better then the tripod. I jammed it between everything I could so its sturdy as possible. Plus strapped the seat belt around it hah.

A wide angle lens would really help. 5 second exposure and a AVOID all pot holes, dips, cracks, etc etc. Try to find a smooth road with lots of light.

I originally wanted to take this downtown as I assume theres lots of street lights there but I live deep in South Surrey close to the commercial border crossing so driving all the way there just to see if this would work or not was kind of not worth it. So I just drove up and down 152nd in Surrey :p It was actually the smoothest road I could find.

^gotta try that someday haha
love the multicolored lights

*EDIT* Shit, looks like Photobucket's degrading the jpegs quite a bit...

Mananetwork 03-07-2011 02:18 AM

It's not night and day difference but it's significant enough...

Mananetwork 03-07-2011 02:20 AM

Not as significant as with the 50MP Hasselblad, as it's only 37.5MP, but the difference is in the noise (there is none) and ultimate resolution (look at the aluminum siding of the boathouses). Unfortunately, there are too many JPEG artifacts to show you what it's really like. :( I can show you the RAW files next time.

Your right though, i'm looking in the darker orange areas of the left building and Leica as nice even tones with NO NOISE! :)

Senna, doesn't it make a difference that one is at 55mm and the other at 70mm?

european 03-07-2011 04:21 AM

I've seen those light orbs before. How is that done?
Sweet photo!

No, remember the Leica is a medium format sensor, so a 70mm lens has about the same field of view as a 55mm lens on a full frame 35mm SLR.
