Mario Strikers scared me the first time i put on my wii and ask for an update from Nintendo....

it took me a good 2 days and research on the wii mod chip forums to see if everyone else's game and console was fine after the update

wait until ur friend gets back and find out what modchip you have

then google the site of your chip to find the official website for it and see if they provide firmware installations and such...

dont do anything to "brick" your console considering how its still hard to find one nowadays.... so just wait it out

as far as i know, one potential to brick your console is if you put a japanese game on ur NA console and asked for an update, the foreign update coming from japan will cause incompatibilit on your console causing it to go brick.. thats one thing i know so far..

how did you get rid of region lock? i tried with mine on the latest US fw (with wiikey) and nothing :S my wii is one of the 1st gen ones.

well i actually didnt do the overriding, the guy that did the mod chip installation overrided the region coding.....


i tested a jap version of Ghost Squat and PAL version of Manhunt 2 and works flawlessly...

If I install a Wiikey will I still be able to play online? If I can't play online I'm just going to sell my wii

you can still play online, but then there arent many good online games anyways.....

i tried Mario Striker charge online and it works flawlessly

however, i cant get into MoH Heroes online, EA servers keep booting me off


like i said, u just gotta be careful with the game updates, dont update a jap or pal game with ur ntsc console or you will brick it..

so far, the 2 games that did a game update from nintendo are Mario Strikers and Mario Galaxy and it work fine after..

but yes, its safe, all your wii channels like weather, news and browser works fine after installing the wiikey..

I modded my wii with a wiikey and it gives me an "unable to read disk error"......but I can still play games I bought from stores. Anyone know what the problem is?

so everyone that has a chip and updated with mario galaxy had no problems at all? i did the strikers update and it was smooth sailing, im just worried about the galaxy update. anyone that did the galaxy update, was it with a retail version or backup?

So the notorious japanese mag Famitsu, which is notorious for giving blunt and anal reviews of games have scored Super Smash Bros Brawl a perfect 40/40

in its 20 year history, only 7 games so far have scored a perfect score...

Famitsu gives SSBB a perfect score

IMO, i never got into SSB series, i tried playing the one for the 'cube, and i dont see what the big deal was..


but with soo much hype on this game, i thnk ill join the hype bandwagon...

there will be map editor, co op play for adventure, online battle and huge cast of characters...

so far the only none nintendo maacot that is comfirmed in the game is Sonic, Snake, Grey Fox, Knuckles... and some characters from Sonic and MGS universe..

rumour going around that other third party mascots are hidden in the game like Crash Bandicoot (former Sony mascot).. but i highly doubt that...

Actually Famitsu is pretty much notorious for only giving good reviews to their largest sponsors nowadays. Although a 40/40 is still rare, their reviews are essentially meaningless to gamers. Still very important to fanboys, as you can imagine.

and come to think of it, out of those 7 perfect games, most of them are Nintendo franchises...

I have a question, I don't know if you guys can help me out,

1. I just purchesed and modded my nintendo wii with the D2CKey,

and basically, I just cannot update games when i put game prompts me to. is that right?


2. Later on the month i'm thinkin about modding my wii pretty bad. change case, LED light, wiimote, nunchuck... gotta buy the parts first.. what is a good website that is fast and have reliable products on these wii mods?

3. Also, how do you guys download and burn wii games? Let me know! Is there a website/ program?

the wii is safe to be hooked back online after it is modded..

the games are safe to be updated when u are prompted to, as long as the game u have is the same region as ur wii..

potential brick are:

if u update a jap or a pal wii game on an ntsc console, and vice versa....

u cannot ask that question here and get a simple answer.... read the piracy rules thread.....

torrents are your best friend for finding that stuff...... and google..

to give you some answer to the question

u need to burn ur files into an IMG onto the dvd........... google it up if u need more explanation...

but yeah, as long as i don't update a jap / pal game on an ntsc (i'm pretty sure it's ntsc because i bought it here in canada last week)

So its confirmed that Smash Bros Brawl jap edition does not work on wiikey..

and the wiikey website and the team is MIA, so its currently uncertain if and when they will release an update, just like how they released an update for SM Galaxy

so has anyone tried to get SSBB to work on their modded wiis?

and i just find out that the ntsc version of SSBB has been dumped on torrents, currently dling it in the process to see if it will work.. which i highly doubt it..

at this moment, people who own jap wii consoles with wiikey said that even a real copy of SSBB doesnt work on theirs either


well i find some more info

SSBB disc is dual layer, so the total file is 8 gigs..

there is no real ntsc version dumped, its labeled as "ntsc with japanese language" so this is still the jp release

however, majority of the torrents uploaded are on a normal game capacity averaging at 4.11 gigs to 4.21 gigs

this are the ripped back ups where the movies and some cut scenes were taken out......and the adventure mode doesnt work, however, the full VS battle (single and 2 player and 4 players) work flawlessly with all characters

and this game works on majority of wiikeys, so im dling it now and see if it will work on mine..

for those who has a Cyclowiz installed on ur wii, the game works flawlessly..
