I'm on HoFo a lot, but don't look at the iPhone stuff there much. Editing contacts is fine, and you can get media on to it a variety of ways, although syncing it to a computer is the best way.

can you just copy your sim contacts onto your iphone?

I'm not sure, maybe Google that up for yourself? Personally I have my contacts synced to Mac Address Book, which is synced to Outlook 2007 and Plaxo. I keep no contacts on my SIM.
