i read they don't have rachel/momji/ayane gameplay like 2 had which is really disappointing. i really liked using the 3 of them. just read up on yaiba NG-Z. seems pretty cool from a zombie point of view. i also picked up dead or alive 5 which has ryu and ayane. i'm surprised that it's a pretty fun game to play. i like the fight mechanics, though getting juggled in mid air gets annoying |

Castlevania lord of shadows 2 comes out next month as well. I'm excited, it's been awhile since a hood hack n slash :fullofwin: |
anyone know how much ps3 are worth now? I got an old one thats 80 gig (fat ones) and also a slim one thats 250 gig? (brothers) |
my friend was looking on CL and he mentioned 120's were going for like $130-150 iirc |
A brand new extra-slim 4GB is $170 or something at Costco, but the storage is puny. |
Still got my 60gb from launch day. Operated on it twice, still works. I have to do another operation soon, blu ray drive is gone, i think its like 80 bucks. |

i had a backwards compatible PS3 but once I got the slim I never looked back..the fat PS3 run like jet turbines in the summer months and it's a bitch to clean the fan because you have to diassemble all the way to the logic board |

old school 60GB PS3 that can fully play PS2/PS1 games FTW totally regret selling mine now lol in case anyone is interested The 60GB (and 40GB) PlayStation3 can play PlayStation One and PlayStation 2 games, but it doesn't just play them, it upscales the image to look better on your shiny high definition screen. I have a few friends who also have the 60gb version and its still working to this day no problem... other versions however I have heard many stories about em breaking down does anyone know where/how I can recover data from a dead ps3? got a shit ton of photos and videos I need to recover from the harddrive but no idea where/how to. |
isn't the PS3 HD essentially a laptop HD? i recall my friend upgrading his ps3 with one. i imagine you'd take it out and pop it in to another PS3 or compatible laptop? @zilley I'll see if he's still interested. he mentioned ps4 the other day, but my other friend was thinking of a ps3 if he can get one on the cheap. |

^ Apparently it's possible to do it with a Linux PC, but it isn't easy. Best thing would be to revive the old PS3 and quickly copy everything. Quote:

I have a 80GB FAT PS3 but it has the YLOD, happened when I tried uninstalling Resistance 3. The uninstall ended up taking a couple hours, once it was done I reset the system and I got the YLOD. |
I miss my 60 gig launch, had it for 2 years before it YLOD. Bought a 120 gig slim and have never looked back |
I still have 2 60GB PS3 working great. I actually played some of the last games for the PS2 on my PS3. Really wished the PS4 had full backward compatibility, then I could retire the PS3 and only use the PS4. |
It's only a matter of time before ps3 games will be rereleased on the ps4 as digital downloads. Posted via RS Mobile |
Only a matter of time before they come out with a version 2 PS4 thats slimmer and backwards compatible and BLAH BLAH BLAH for like $700 Sony's playstation trend is horrible. |
PS3 noob here... I have a PS3 (fat) with no hard drive and YLOD. Where can I take it to get it fixed so I can play on it again? Is it worth fixing? I got the "shell" for free. |

Backwards compatibility is coming to PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Now is only part of the story. A well-placed source working with Sony's streaming service reveals that only PlayStation 3 titles are currently scheduled to use the "gameplay over IP" cloud service. PS1 and PS2 titles are set to follow the more conventional route of running locally under emulation on Sony's latest console - but with the possibility of HD visual enhancements. While Sony effectively phased out hardware emulation of previous platforms during the early stages of the PS3 era, it has worked consistently on opening up the PlayStation back catalogue to publishers via software emulation and PSN downloads. Internally, PlayStation 3's firmware contains emulators for PS1, PS2 and even the handheld PSP, while Vita is capable of running PS1 and Vita titles virtually flawlessly using the same technology. In short, there's a proven codebase that can only get better for the vastly more powerful PS4. Our information suggests that the same internal emulator strategy is planned for PlayStation 4, and we understand that Sony is actively pursuing the ability for older titles to run without the blurry upscaling seen on PS3, suggesting that native HD resolutions are being targeted. Assuming this intention carries through to final code, we'll be seeing an effect similar to the resolution scaling seen on unofficial PC emulation of Sony's consoles, as well as a great many of the "HD remasters" we saw on PS3 - where original assets were rendered at a higher resolution, often without any actual remastering at all. Sony's use of emulation as opposed to PlayStation Now streaming is an interesting decision - and the right one for enthusiast gamers. Running code locally provides a superior experience in terms of both input latency and image quality, and owing to the bandwidth requirements of continuous gameplay streaming, a single download could actually work out better economically for the platform holder. However, anything that can be run on PS3 can also operate on the PlayStation Now servers, so theoretically there is no technical reason why PS1, PS2 and PSP titles running on the existing, upscaling PS3 emulators couldn't be added to the streaming service should Sony see fit - though HD resolution scaling would most likely be off the table in those circumstances. PS4 will never get native backwards compatibility... As for a slimmer version, I'm sure that will happen in 2-3 years. But who knows, it may end up looking worse, like the current PS3 which looks like a cheap piece of shit. |
i like the glossy look of my 80gb...even though it looks fat. i hate the 'hard buttons' on the newer ps3's |
i hate the george forman grill design of the fat ps3 the matte black on the slim looks cheap but it's nicer overall i just slap on a cover and call it a day |
I like that the fat PS3 was easier to keep clean, my slim always looks slightly dusty. Oh and the hard buttons are nice so my cats don't turn it on all the time. |
