well in terms of apps there's over 100k apps in the Nokia store and all the major apps are cross platform anyhow

as for the OS you should give the new Belle update a look my N8 is like a completely new phone so even what criticisms there were of Symbian^3 are gone (people still have the N97 in their minds when they think Nokia but thats so not true)

as for an Android version the new Satio camera is getting nods at being just as good/better than the N8 (ive only seen one comparison review though and the Satio looks too overexposed imo)

edit: there's a rumor that the sensor in the N8 successor will be 1" like the Nikon 1 camera... hopefully it ends up being larger than that but thats still astounding if it is

Do you guys think its mandatory to have filters on your lenses? For example a UV filter for everyday shoots to protect the lens or polarized filters to create some cool effects?

-EuroRSN- 02-15-2012 02:28 PM

UV filters are mostly used to protect the Front Element of your Lens which is always good but won't make your pics any nicer. Polerizers are really usuful if your shooting in the sun with Blue Skies or Shinny water.

I'd be careful with cheap filters though. Filters with bad quality (or non-existant) anti-reflective coatings will cause bad reflections/glare on your pictures.

I've also borrowed a cheapo polarizer for Formula D last year - it turned out it was screwing with my focus and made all my shots out of focus. It scared me for the longest time because I thought my lens was broken - then it turned out it was just the filter. But it also meant most of the shots I took that day was blurry :(

It was a good filter

i'm reading that a clear filter, instead of UV one, is a better choice for protection if needed. seems to be debated quite often. Why do these companies still continue to manufacture and advertise the UV ones?

LiquidTurbo 02-15-2012 08:47 PM

Use no filter man.

The difference is like protected and unprotected sex. One's riskier, but the quality is better!

insomniac 02-15-2012 09:19 PM

anyone have a 52mm filter theyre willing to get rid of? polarizer or b+w. also can i stack two or more filters together?

Boostslut 02-15-2012 09:36 PM

Can you stack filters? See this link:

I've got a cheap 52mm circular polarizer sitting around here you can have if you want to pick it up? I doubt I'll ever own a lens of that size again..

More photoshop sorcery

Matsuda 02-16-2012 10:04 PM

I posted that on the previous page =(

i bought a standard 2" Surefoot Body Plate by Jobu for my Wimberley Wh-200 vII. fits no problem!

http://members.shaw.ca/northvanmike/...lateimage2.jpg

it'll stay on my camera body so i can mount my camera on my gimbal head. i originally bought a long plate for my telephoto lens, but it stays on the lens. now i can use any short lens on the Wimberley!

If I purchase a brand new GF2/3, with the 14-42 lens kit....realistically,
how much would I be able to sell the brand new 14-42mm lens for?

Looking at Craiglist, people are asking for appx. $400 for the
14-42 PZ Power Zoom one, but what about the normal one?

Anywhere in the $200 range?
Or will anyone even want to buy this kit lens?

StylinRed 02-21-2012 01:13 PM

So I was talking about Nokia Pureview recently and the rumor of how nokia is going to shove a 40ish Mpx camera into their next phone to use as a zoom function

well Nokia today released a teaser video for Pure View; the video is in 1080p and is assumed to be photos/videos taken from said phone and that the close-up stills shown at the beginning are drawn from the last image shown in the video

Not many will want the kit 14-42 lens as most people would've bought it as a kit if they wanted it.

Might be able to flip it on eBay.

StylinRed 02-21-2012 04:37 PM

not sure if anyone needs this as you probably have it

but you can order photoshop cs5 extended for $45 (including tax) from adobe.com right now if you've got a student email account and use code SAVE80EDU

So the Nokia 808 Pure View was announced today

and it is 41mpx and you have the option to take stills @ 5mpx,8mpx,38mpx (etc) the sensor size isnt the rumored 1" but rather 1/1.2"

and the sensor will Oversample up to 7mpx->1mpx supposedly allowing for extremely detailed shots @ 5/8mpx

they showed some stunning sample photos @ the press conference most the info i find will be posted in this thread if anyone is interested

Hey guys!

I know we have a couple pro photographers on here and I was just wondering what kinds of prices to expect for a short grad kinda photoshoot for 1 person.

Thanks in advance,

Brian

Senna4ever 02-28-2012 07:06 PM

^^^ $150-$350, depending on photographer, session length and add-ons (if any) purchased.

K-bad 02-28-2012 08:23 PM

Thanks for the responses on filters. I just got a Polarizer filter for mid day shots.

Where can you get some decent price ND graduated filters locally? I know they can be pricey but I'm just looking at options, since I love taking landscape shots. Thanks

artmotion 02-29-2012 09:59 AM
