What are you using to try and calibrate it? Are you using the built in software calibration or a hardware based calibration unit?
Built in software. System Preferences/Displays/Color/Calibrate...
The software fails as its about to begin calibrating and asks me to send an error report to Apple after the first few steps.

So, I picked up a used 5DII, and whenever I take a longer exposure shot it takes a long time to write the file to the compact flash disk. I'm using Sandisk 16gig extreme cards 60 per/whatever. Is this normal? I can't remember. Or if it isn't, what would cause this?
Example: A 4 minute exposure will take a minute + to process, or even a 40 second will take like 40 seconds to write to disk. Regular exposures 1/200 or whatever is instant.

Are you sure you don't have the long exposure noise reduction on?
When you have that setting on - if you take a 40 second exposure, it will take another 40 second exposure with the shutter closed, and then take the bright pixels and use that for noise reduction.

what do you guys think of gear backpacks? i'm not sure which way to lean now that i need a new bag? Backpacks seem fairly versatile and usefull?
basically carry my camera, Kit lense, 70-200, 50mm, extra batteries, remote, cables etc and a tripod?
Depends on your personal preference. I have both types and tend to lean towards grabbing my shoulder bag all the time. My Kata is still new and unused collect dust. However if you need to carry a tripod its pretty much backpack all the way.
ya, unless u have a super light gitzo or something ~ 2lbs w/ head, and folds compactly, i wouldn't try a messenger/sling w/ tripod. it will hurt ur shoulder and/or bang against ur leg. i also exclusively use the kata in backpack mode now and have a small messenger for the m43 system.
Sup RS, just want to share something i recently purchased and damn am i ever satisfied.
The Yongnuo RF-603 Wireless Flash Triggers. They work pretty much just like pocket wizards for your flash units and cost pennies compared to the real thing. They also got great reviews online. I bought a set of 2 which comes with 4 remotes total. That pretty much allows me to use 3 separate flash units at once. Lots of new possibilities for flash photography
Anyway check them out on ebay for about $25.00 each set.
^
I want it! I want pocket wizards too though. I want everything! Wish I had money
Did anyone else get that Flickr Holiday Gift for those of you who use Flickr for photo hosting/sharing? 3 months free of Flickr Pro or 3 months extension on your current Flickr Pro account. Pretty sweet entendo

At $80 for two, they're quite a bit more expensive than the $25/pair set.
What's the advantage for the price difference? I don't use a flash often but I'd like to start trying it out. Wasn't going to spend the money on PocketWizards so this is something I'd be interested in getting just to play around with since the price is right.
the rf-603 work like the cactus v5s, they just fire the flashes. the yn622 are ttl flash triggers that when used w/ compatible bodies/flashes, you can control the power/ratios in the camera menu. think of them as the cheap version of phottix odins/pw flex/mini etc.
u can find tests, descriptions, videos all over google. industry standard pw/radiopoppers are >$150 a set. just for (similar) functions of the rf-603. they're not fair comparisons i suppose, but $80/pair yn622 didn't seem $ for what they can do.
Saw Senna shooting my friends wedding last night. I think that's the most photographers/videographers I've ever seen at a wedding...lol
must have had like 6-8 people working

Shoulda came up and introduced yourself! Which table were you sitting at, and is E or D your friend? There were only two of us photogs, but there were three videographers - it was difficult staying out of each others way.
That wedding had the most amazing decorations in the reception hall I've seen this year! Nicest couple, and most beautiful bride too! E's father's speech was heartwarming.
