It's great, you'll/might get more exposed. But make sure to make your watermarking obvious along with some Meta data or whateever. Ask Tomasz for advice lol

I'd love to know what you guys use to build some of your photo blogs. I'm not used to much other than Wordpress and I'd love to overhaul my photo site.

I've heard good things about Wix.

I use wordpress for artofstance and my personal photoblog

been wanting to a buy a filter for my tokina 11-16 and ive been trying to look online whats best out there...do you guys personally have any recommendations? been looking more into cpl filters, altho i keep hearing that it can really mess up the picture with the "too blue" effect on one side

for wide angle lens like the 11-16mm a CPL can work against you since the field of view is so wide... ya exactly the blue will be uneven..

Had to chuck these today. Some old Nikon bodies, shitty lenses, a 17-55mm f2.8 & four 70-200mm f2.8 VRI. All deemed unrepairable by Nikon Canada. :(

So I've been reading up on the differences between T3i and T4i and the two that stand out to me that the T4i has that the 3 does not are the stereo microphone as opposed to mono, as well as continuous auto focus in video while the 3 is all manual focus?

Seems like these two features alone are kind of worth the extra dough if I'm going to be taking much video with the camera no?

With the T4i, you will also need a "STM" Lens for autofocus during video to work smoothly

^ I had a teacher contact me from the Institute of Quebec on Flickr. She was also interested in my picture to use for an instructional document. We chatted on the phone, agreed to a payment and boom. I now have one my pics on 300 000 copies of some educational document in Quebec :)

Ask him to call you and talk it over, make an agreement that works for u both. Its kinda like selling your art haha

Never, EVER send hi-res files before receiving payment. EVER. They're trying to dupe you into giving them a free image. Every time that happens, it contributes to the cheapening of the professional photography industry...and it's not fair to you.

A 12'x8' print? The amount you can charge fairly will depend on print quality and usage, but you should at least be able to easily charge $2,000+ if it is of fine art quality. Are they wanting to license your image for one time use, a limited edition, or an unlimited run? The amount you charge will be dependent on its use. As you are what is called an "unknown," you won't be able to charge as much as Jeff Wall, so maybe $500 for a (12'x8') print intended for one time use is fair. I dunno...I asked for and got $2000+ for an 8'x2' print, but this was a fine art quality print.

The art market is fickle in that the camera used to make the image also counts in the final price even if in the final print you can't see a difference. Let's say one makes a 4'x5' print from a Canon 5DmkII, and another guy makes the exact same print shot at the same time with a Phase One IQ180 80MP medium format camera, you can expect to get more money with the Phase One print. Even though the detail level on such a relatively small print is indistinguishable. Yes, there may be differences in tonality, but let's not go there just for this argument.

This is why I hate flikr, and I don't know of any big name highly successful professional photographers in my client pool who use flikr.

EA has lots of money - dont let them rip you off. As long as you get what you think is a fair price, everything will be fine in the end, but don't give it to them for free.

Has anyone here had any experience with Canon 50mm F1.0L?

My colleague's dad, a soon-to-retire pro-photog is selling his entire Canon equipments and moving to lighter Leica setup. I was gonna pick up a 5D MKII for some (relatively) cheap movie setup from him and this lens caught my eye and arm (it's humongous and weight at least 2lb).

He's asking 2.5k (he originally paid over 4k back in the early 90s according to the receipt :ahwow:) if I get it with the 5D. But reviews on the internet seems to be rather negative about this particular model. Admittedly, I'm a gearwhore, but I don't really want a 2.5k crappy lens as it's almost as much as other great/rare lenses like Nikon Noct.

Opinions?

Save your money and buy a new 50mm f1.2L instead.

That's what most people on their review seems to recommend. :D

I did some googling this afternoon and found out that this thing is fetching for ridiculous prices on fleebay!

I think I might as well get it and flip for some profit to buy a 35L... :concentrate:

The 50mm f1.2L isn't very sharp wide open either, but it does have a magical quality to it though. I've tested the 50mm f1.2L & 50mm f1.4 side by side, and the 50L has noticeably smoother bokeh at equivalent apertures. Well, I should hope so, as it costs about 4 times more than the f1.4!
