agreed on the pentax

Why small? You'll get a better deal at a bigger store. Check Leo's in vancouver, from the price checks I've done at local stores, they're the most competative.

Take a look in the yellow pages. Other places to check out are Broadway Camera and Kerrisdale Photography (or is it cameras?). I recall finding the best prices at Leo's though.

Inter-pro Photo on Howe st. will price match. That's where I bought my 7D.

Broadway Cameras will give you a discount if you haggle with them. The prices in the display case is only a suggestion. They will discount from that price by about 10%.

I bought a lens at Inter pro awhile ago and didn't realize they had a no-return policy until AFTER I paid for the lens... that sucks.

good thing the lens' a keeper

yeah man, they'll exchange your item if it's defective but if you want to return it simply because u're not happy with it, they'll charge you like a 20% restocking fee or something like that... or was it 5% i can't remember.

look at the bottom of your receipt, 3rd one down the list :

"No refund or exchange without prior approval. All merchandise returns subject to a minimum of 20% restocking charge"

it's kinda dumb, i think. but i'm sure they'll let you return it if you make a scene in front of other customers... that being said, I probably won't shop there too often simply because of this dumb no-return policy.

but I'm happy with the lens so that's fine.

Damn, you're right. It's probably because some people will 'buy' a lens, use it for a wedding or something and return it saying they changed thier mind.

Digital Camera Question's

I'm thinking about getting a new digital camera (my 2 dollar, 0.3 megapixel one just doesnt cut it )
I'm thinking I probably want to spend about $150-200 (maybe more). Something thats about 4-5 megapixels.
Basically I'm wondering what are some reputable brands, ones that come with decent software (sony can lick my balls).
For most of the time I'm using it a point and shoot would be useful (just taking pics with friends etc, quick snapshots, so one that can take a couple shots quickly would be a bonus), though an SLR would be nice, are there any SLR's on the market that you can set to auto focus etc if you decide to get lazy? I dont need a super fancy one with insane lenses or anything like that.
I dont need a huge screen or anything (I'd rather have better battery life, (alot of the time I just keep the lcd turned off anyways).
I'm just starting to look now, but any sort of advice and direction would be much appreciated.

The powershot is one option I'm looking into, just quickly peroozing through ebay I came up with a couple cameras but apparently I suck at linking to ebay, one was a Minolta Dimage z2 4.0 megapixel 10x optical zoom, the other is a Fujifilm FinePix 4.0 Megapixel 6x optical zoom, both SLR/Auto

Does anybody know of which stores in vic are the best for looking at digital camera's (employee knowledge wise/ selection wise, pricewise would be nice too, but I'd rather be given correct info about what I'm buying than getting it cheap and getting fed BS *cough* futureshop *cough*)

Cannon Powershot has been suggested in this price range, any thoughts?

I have been using a Canon Power Shot A400 ... used by AirMiles to get it

It seems to take decent pics, is easy to use (easier than the previous ones). The only thing I do not like is the time it takes to focus and take a shot. When taking pics of moving cars (AutoX) I have to plan and pan ahead, as there is about a 2 sec delay from pressing the button to taking a pic.

I use ACDC for my photo editing ... so cannot realy comment on the Canon software.

Read up on Epinions for other reviews.

My fist DSLR, what to buy...

I have been looking a lot at the D-SLR's out there, and I think I want to go with the D-50, as I am a poor high school student.

I will only have $1500 to spend, and I need the everything with the camera, (lenses, memory card, tripod, carry case, ect..)
I found a nice kit on ebay, I'll see if I can get a link in a bit...

any recomendations? or idea's?

I can't buy one yet as I need to sell my car first...
